Time is never ever standing still, except on Never Ending Hill. From here you can see Devil Lake The velvet sunset is never too late
Never Ending Hill is where I live, The Old Oak Tree is standing still. Can you hear the birds singing in the trees? Can you hear the wind shaking all the leaves?
Take a look at the sky Golden clouds are moving right by my eyes Black Cat Magic is down by the lake Chasing butterflies that can't get away
[Solo : Mike]
Now the sun is slowly going down I can hear... Devil Lake is quiet now Magic, Magic come home Say goodbye to your butterfly 'cause night time is coming our way
Time is never ever standing still, except on Never Ending Hill. From here you can see Devil Lake The velvet sunset is never too late
Take a look at the sky. Golden clouds are moving right by my eyes Black Cat Magic is down by the lake Chasing butterflies that can't get away
[Solo : Andy]
Ah, Darkness coming Ah, Sun is drowning, drowning in Devil Lake. Ah, Magic come in Ah, Light is fading, oh yeah its getting late.
Alice, isn't it frightening? Alice, aren't you scared? Alice, isn't it wonderful? Living life afraid Don't look around the corner I might be lurking there Under the bed at night You're up till dawn again
Alison hell, your mind begins to fold Alison hell, aren't you growing cold? Alison hell, you are looking blue Alice in hell, what else can you do?
Alice
I begin my rule, life hideous in your mind Crying out, you've lost your doll It isn't worth a dime
Alison hell, your mind begins to fold Alison hell, aren't you growing cold? Alison hell, what are you looking for? Alice in hell, soon I close the door
Sitting in the corner, you are naked and alone No one listened to your fears, you've created me
Alice, isn't it frightening? Alice, aren't you scared? I was killed at birth I shoot this final scene You're in the basement You're trapped insanity
Alison hell, what were you looking for? Alison hell, as I close the door Alison hell, here you shall dwell Alison hell, Alice dwells in hell
Alice
Alice Alison Alice In hell
Goodbye

Yeah, that's it. Just relax. Have another drink, few more pretzels, little more MSG. Turn on those Dallas Cowboys on your TV. Lock your doors. Close your mind. It's time for the two-minute warning.
Welcome to 1984 Are you ready for the third world war?!? You too will meet the secret police They'll draft you and they'll jail your niece
You'll go quitely to boot camp They'll shoot you dead, make you a man Don't you worry, it's for a cause Feeding global corporations' claws
Die on our brand new poison gas El Salvador or Afghanistan Making money for President Reagan And all the friends of President Reagan
Half way through the wheat, my golden foe With his itching ears in the scorching heat. The weight of summer, torment to my hands Armed with a sickle I am out for his beguiling glance. Thought I heared a mare neighing from the creek Where in every hour spared we anxiously would meet. Drunken whispers noone could hear 'til the day when hordes of wasps Poisoned every hour so passed.
She was faint as I when she spoke to me. Reluctantly. Words came through Words of leaving here and leaving me. And her eyes grew bigger then Bound in moonlit glittering. She Leaned to me and whispered tears into my ear.
Well, I went to see the creek again And many a day I'd stand at its shoreline wondering If it might be heading north Through the timber, passed the lake and our chalet should have gone with her, should have gone with me.
But I stayed when she begged me to come with her, never to separate, never to be alone. And lept silent when I should have sung the song of heart And remained loyal to the thief.
There is a road that I must travel May it be paved or unseen May I be hindered by a thousand stones Still onward I'd crawl down on my knees
At sudden swallows took upon the scene Heralding what I could not have foreseen a threat of rain on the dark horizon A strong foreboding of a storm arising. And willows'd roar, midges dazzled birches sigh from painful lessons lessons they'd learned in life that every stem breaks if bent too far.
Will I run for a shelter and quiver ? Will I run away, be idle and shiver ?
And thunders pound so hard, pound the drums of warfare Hungry clouds draw closer with reptile teeth as lightning Is it the fear of the inevitable that is keeping me awaiting? I am rigid as of reverence, still and enduring.
I must have seen it coming.
Oh my longing's neverending. Time's so pale So come with colors, paint it burning red I fear no more, can see clearly now The morning sun beyond the clouds. And when the dark night seems endless With only a quarter moon left of light I am longing back to times of splendor Longing far away, away from here and back to you.
I swagger back and forth dancing the betrayer's dance For the last of all times, I swear For the last damn time, I swear !
I am over and through with all your lectures I know this is the right step to do Over and through with all you lectures I know this is the right thing to do !
if I don't leave now I will be lost in the hot burning dungeon they have oh so thoroughly prepared for me to all eternity. Hear her whispering feel my cheek ablaze And I take the first step of a thousand more to come.
There is a road that I must travel May it be paved or unseen May I be hindered by a thousand stones Still onward I'd crawl down on my knees.

It came from dismal shadows Creeping, sudden, from behind. fell upon my merry whistle darkened me at heart and sight. Back with me, one again with the memory Again I behold the ruins that I left when I was all devoured by wrath.
Last night out in the timber a thousand torrent's vehemence came rushing through my veins Up my throat and filled the eyes, And then that I knew all pain will be undone When I pack my bags And depart for lonely roads
And with courageous verve I stride chop the heads off flowers aside, still wondering
How come you never bleed When I stab right into your back. How come you never choke When I drown you in the sea.
Merely hours passed that I had left him to his mountains his colossal idols - one for every spear in me. Slopes so steep, I could not conquer in a lifetime. Now they're all but ruins, Ruins I left behind.
And with courageous verve I stride chop the heads off plants aside, still wondering
How come you never bleed When I stab right into your back. How come you never choke When I drown you in the hot and burning sea.
There is always one waiting for me, my beloved I shall be with her again so soon. craving for her lips, her kiss Her hair in summer winds The morning dew dripping down her breasts.
Shadows and Flames.
I have been demure Cries were silent but heart ablaze. have been one of his shadows Condemned to stray an unlit maze. My feet are numb, soles torn wide open After endless years of clambering My path is lit and leads me north.
And with courageous verve I stride chop the heads off flowers aside, still wondering
How come you never bleed When I stab right into your back, How come you never choke When I drown you in the hot and burning sea
Symphony X - Domination (Progressive Metal, though this song is quite thrashy)
All alone in a wasted war Legions of lost scream in pain A million shattered destinies All slowly drowning in tears of flame Break the chains around your necks Lick your wounds, you dogs of war Raise your badness ever high And ravage the Babylon horde
I, with darkest insurrection, victimise Hail the horrors. On hell we sanctify
My domination!
Rotting from the inside out Ripping away at the core A million lives unite as one Smothering innocence, forevermore Sounded by the drums of doom March to this black heart of hate Clawing, tearing, slashing did the fire defined our fate.
I, with darkest insurrection, victimise Hail the horrors. On hell we sanctify
My domination!
Get down on your knees
Oh, go and turn the waters red with rage Burn all the Earth shore to shore Open wide the gates of Hell Defile the Babylon horde
I, with darkest insurrection, victimise Hail the horrors. On hell we sanctify
Sometimes I try to do things And it just doesn't work out the way I want it to. It's like, I try hard to do it And I get real frustrated. And I take my time But it just doesn't work out the way I want it to. It's like I concentrate on it real hard, But it just doesn't work out. And everything I do and everything I try, It never turns out! It's like, I need time to figure these things out. There's always someone there going, "Hey Mike, you know, We've been noticing you've been having a lot of problems lately, you know. You should maybe get away, You'd feel a lot better." And like, maybe you should talk about it, Just leave me alone, I'll figure it out you know. I go, "No, it's okay you know, I'll figure it out. And they go, "Well, you know, if you wanna talk about it, I'm just working on myself." I'll be here ya know, And you'll probably feel a lot better if ya talked about it, So why dontcha talk about it?!" I go, "No! I don't want to I'm okay! I'll figure it out myself!" But they just keep buggin' me, They just keep buggin' me And it builds up inside!
So you're gonna be institutionalized You won't have any say You'll come out brainwashed with bloodshot eyes They'll brainwash you until you see their way
I'm not crazy - Institutionalized You're the one who's crazy - Institutionalized You're driving me crazy - Institutionalized
They stuck me in an institution Said it was the only solution To protect me from the enemy, myself To give me the needed professional help
Uh - I was in my room Just thinking about everything But then again I was thinking about nothing. And I was just like staring at the wall thinking 'bout everything And then my Mom came in, And I didn't even know she was there. She called my name But I didn't hear her. Then she started screaming, "Mike, Mike!" And I go, "What? What's the matter?" She goes, "What's the matter with you?!" I go, "There's nothin' wrong Mom." She goes, "Don't tell me that, you're on drugs!" I go, "No Mom, I'm not on drugs. Why don't ya give me a Pepsi?" I'm okay, I'm just thinking, you know. I go, "Mom, I'm okay, I'm just thinking." She goes, "No, you're on drugs!" Normal people don't act in that way!" She goes, "No, you're not thinking, you're on drugs! All I want is a Pepsi." I go, "Mom, just give me a Pepsi please, Just one Pepsi! And she wouldn't give it to me! And she wouldn't give it to me! All I wanted was a Pepsi! Just a Pepsi!
They give you a white shirt with long sleeves Tied around your back, you're treated like thieves Drug you up because they're lazy It's too much work to help a crazy
I'm not crazy - Institutionalized You're the one who's crazy - Institutionalized You're driving me crazy - Institutionalized
They stuck me in an institution To give me the needed professional help Said it was the only solution To protect me from the enemy, myself
I was sitting in my room. My Mom and my Dad came in. So they pull up a chair and they sat down. They go, "Mike, we need to talk to you." And I go, "Okay, what's the matter?" They go, "Me and your Mom, We've been noticing lately you've been having a lot of problems, And you've been going off for no reason. And we're afraid you're gonna hurt somebody, We're afraid you're gonna hurt yourself. So we decided that it would be in your best interest If we put you somewhere Where you could get the help that you need." And I go, "Wait! What are ya talking about?! We decided?! My best interest?! How can you say what my best interest is! And what are ya trying ta say, I'm crazy?! How do you know what my best interest is! When I went to your schools! I went to your churches! I went to your institutional learning facilities! So how can ya say I'm crazy?!
They say they're gonna fix my brain But by the time they fix my head Alleviate my suffering and my pain Mentally, I'll be dead
Chorus (two verses): I'm not crazy - Institutionalized You're the one who's crazy - Institutionalized You're driving me crazy - Institutionalized
They stuck me in an institution Said it was the only solution To give me the needed professional help To protect me from the enemy, myself
...Doesn't matter I'll probably get hit by a car anyway
One murder coming on Say I'm wrong for all I've done Are you god to judge us all? Prophet false with a jury hung
Home An empty shell of a living hell A human zoo full of cannibals Backwards life it's a dirty world Where your dreams can't be heard
A shallow grave is where I dwell Buried alive within this cell A shadow cast upon my fate Deliver me to the one who waits
Guilt, Regret, and Innocence Full of lies, and corruption Suffocate while the worms infest Underground. Take one last breath
Home An empty shell of a living hell A human zoo full of cannibals Backwards life it's a dirty world Where your dreams can't be heard
A shallow grave is where I dwell Buried alive within this cell A shadow cast upon my fate Deliver me to the one who waits
Visions of life start to flash as the dirt rains down How does your so called god get off on this
Blackness descending on me in this hole in the ground No longer will I see the light of day The saints are gonna make the sinner pay And maggots are waiting to feast on my flesh
D.R.I - Suit and Tie guy (Crossover Thrash Metal/Hardcore Punk)
Greedy for blood Paralysed by power The decision to die Tales of terror Deep in the corner Passion to kill Corpse on the ground Minds starts to chill A man lies in the corner, covered with blood Bloody wounds on his body, praying to his god People pass him by, but they say Why should we care about him? he will die today Riot of violence Find your own way You must go alone Kill all next to you They want the throne The infectious disease Is the only life You're scared to death Die by their knife A man lies in the corner, covered with blood Bloody wounds on his body, praying to his god People pass him by, but they say Why should we care about him? he will die today Brutality and mighty wars, warriors start to fight With bombs and guns, the troops have come to extinguish the light I'd rather not go wild tonight, but I must save myself On a field littered with corpses Stands a lonely flower It reminds the world how it was But we kicked it away with power
Mkay, with all these regular vids being posted, I figured why not join in. However, since I'm too lazy to post it daily, I figured that a weekly edition might work better.
The songs that I will be posting will generally fit in either the Hardcore Punk or Metal (Heavy/Progressive/Power/Thrash) genre.
The songs are not relevant to being my top three songs of the week or something like that, simply three vids I expect the target audience to enjoy. I'll also put the lyrics of the song under it in a spoiler.
1. Dead Kennedys - MTV Get off the Air (Hardcore Punk)
Fun Fun Fun in the fluffy chair Flame up the herb Woof down the beer [click!] Hi I'm your video DJ I always talk like I'm wigged out on quaaludes I wear a satin baseball jacket everywhere I go
My job is to help destroy What's left of your imagination By feeding you endless doses Of sugar-coated mindless garbage
So don't create Be sedate Be a vegetable at home And thwack on that dial If we have our way even you will believe This is the future of rock and roll
How far will you go How low will you stoop To tranquilize our minds with your sugar-coated swill
You've turned rock and roll rebellion Into Pat Boone sedation Making sure nothing's left to the imagination
M.T.V. Get off the M.T.V. Get off the M.T.V. Get off the air Get off the air
See the latest rejects from the muppet show Wag their tits and their dicks As they lip-synch on screen There's something I don't like About a band who always smiles Another tax write-off For some schmuck who doesn't care
M.T.V. Get off the air And so it was Our beloved corporate gods Claimed they created rock video Allowing it to sink as low in one year As commercial TV has in 25 "It's the new frontier," they say It's wide open, anything can happen But you've got a lot of nerve To call yourself a pioneer When you're too god-damn conservative To take real chances.
Tin-eared Graph-paper brained accountants Instead of music fans Call all the shots at giant record companies now
The lowest common denominator rules Forget honesty Forget creativity The dumbest buy the mostest That's the name of the game
But sales are slumping And no one will say why Could it be they put out one too many lousy records?!?
M.T.V.-Get off the air! NOW
2. Municipal Waste - Unleash the Bastards (Crossover Thrash Metal/Hardcore Punk)
Millions lay dead Resistance is futile Armies are crushed Bodies thrown in piles Rich white man's dream Once gained through the machines Brought pain to this world Through bloodlust and greed The new hounds of war Mechanical Bastards Ripping through flesh Destroying their masters Programmed to kill
Destroying at will The brilliant turned fools Now punished by their tools
The time has come For all your leaders to die Electrified hate Your blood an their circuits will fry Bring on the war Unleash the bastards Prisoners no more Destroying their masters Fleets take the night Destroying mankind Those that revolt Will spill blood from their throats
Wise up and see your fate Witness the mechanical advance Rise up but it's too late You should have stood up when you had the chance
But now the world's a living hell The stench of death is all you smell The ground is scorched The air is black The sound of your neck being snapped What was an earth worth fighting for? Now destroyed by the corporate whore An over load of greed and wealth Who's gonna save them from themselves?
Here we go The people show Victims of tomorrow The way it goes It never shows Emptiness or sorrow There is nothing left inside Nothing left to cry for So I justify my crimes Things that I must die for
So alone Away it goes The life that you have wasted You never know Where it might go The sweet success youve tasted Tasted by a bitter frown Knowing I must die for Cant confide, to all the lies No one to inquire
As I wander, change os seasons As I realize That Ill soon be there
Ill let you know The reapers show Makes you beg or borrow He comes to see The tragedy His fate he will not follow Wearing your electric crown The preacher starts to pray Shiver as the lights go down Heed these words I say
As I wander Change of seasons I cant ponder I got my reasons As I realize I dont care All I know is That Ill soon be there
Now its done The time has come The people stand in silence Another dawn Has come and gone His fate has been decided There is no one left inside A brain without a mind Traces of a bitter man Are all that you will find
Was a bit bored so I decided to make a small lyrics game. Rules: 1. You're not allowed to google the lyrics. 2. Put all your answers in spoilers. 3. The questions are all about thrash metal bands.
EXAMPLE: Master, master, Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream. Answer: Metallica - Master of Puppets
Seems simple enough to me. Easy 1. Suspended State of cryogenics Selective amnesia's the story 2. Society failed to tolerate me and I have failed to tolerate society 3. Talking to you is like clapping with one hand 4. Auschwitz, the meaning of pain The way that I want you to die 5. Murder In The Front Row Crowd Begins To Bang
Hard 1. We arrive, and are blinded by twisted rubble, and piercing light 2. They use fear like the press In the book of deceit 3. Conceptualize, wrong or right The ending of life God save me now 4. it'll be too late when they finally see the light. 5. The bio-sphere, the place we live It seems like we don't give a damn
I wish you all good luck, and I'm counting on you people not cheating.
This is a music-oriented guide for those that are interested in the metal genre but don't really know where to start, or the lost souls that are currently listening to numetal/metalcore. These are the 5 albums I would most recommend to anyone starting out with Metal.
4. Iced Earth - Something Wicked This Way Comes Genre: Power/Heavy Metal with Thrash influences. Description: Iced Earth is a band that is quite known within the Metal genre, with high critical acclaim. This is their most accessible record, with ballads such as Melancholy (Holy Martyr), Watching Over me, and Blessed Are You, but still packs quite a punch with Disciples of the Lie, My Own Savior and the Something Wicked trilogy. I would highly recommend this album.
3. Judas Priest - Painkiller Genre: Heavy Metal/Speed Metal Description: This album is probably considered their best album. The album starts off with the title track, which is an amazing speed metal track and an epic solo, though not the most accessible song. After that, the album slows down a bit but still has great moments such as Night Crawler and A touch of Evil, both are recommended tracks.
2. Black Sabbath - Paranoid Genre: Heavy Metal Description: Black Sabbath's most famous album, and the first real heavy metal album ever. This album single-handidly started the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (in which bands such as Iron Maiden got popular). The entire album is killer and you basically can't go wrong here. It's very accessible for someone who hasn't listened to Metal before, and a definite recommendation.
Just kidding.
1. Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast Genre: Heavy Metal Description: The breakthrough album for Iron Maiden. This album contains the best song ever made in the world of heavy metal; Hallowed be thy Name. It is seen as Maiden's best performance to date. Other notable songs on this album include the title track, 22 arcacia avenue, and Run to the Hills. It's a shame some of the song on here aren't that good (Solar Eclipse in particular), but the rest of the album is just too good to pass up.
Close, but no cigar: Metallica - Master of Puppets: I view this album as too overrated to be here, and the emphasis in this blog was on Heavy Metal. This is still a recommended album though. Testament - The Ritual: Many thrash-fans don't like this album too much, but I think it's quite underrated. I don't think it's worth putting it with these 4, though. Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction: If any Megadeth album were to be placed in here, it'd have to be CtE since it's their best album after Rust in Peace, which I would deem too aggressive for starting listeners. It might've been worth an extra, 5th spot, but meh.
Now I'm sure a lot of metalheads will disagree with me. Note that this was written for those with completely no experience with the genre, though.
Went to a concert today. Tilburg was the stage, Turisas, Annihilator and Iced Earth were the bands. Starting time: 8PM.
Left my house at 6:20PM to catch the train at 6:30 which would get me in tilburg 45 minutes before the start of the concert. At the arrival in the 013 (stage name), I found out that the starting time was not 8PM but a bit earlier instead, as Turisas had already started.
Turisas is a folk metal band, and can be compared to Korpiklaani and Finntroll and the like. They put on a good show in old fashioned Viking clothing. I only got to see about half an hour of them, but they exceeded above my expectation, mostly with songs about beer.
Next band in the list was Annihilator (Thrash metal band). I didn't expect too much from them as I didn't really like their stuff on the albums much. However, live they were fucking amazing. Definitely rose above my expectations and they were probably the highlight of the evening for me, especially the song "Phantasmagoria" (huge mosh pit ftw) which is a true thrasher.
-Interlude- Some annoying guy kept fiddling with my hair despite me not knowing them, so I had to move places. I still don't understand his reasoning, probably to impress the girls he went to the concert with.
Last was the main liner; Iced Earth. I had high expectations for this band and the song Violate was the sole reason for me visiting Tilburg. To me, they dissapointed with their new singer, Tim Owens. This guy was brought in Judas Priest from a coverband a number of years back, and joined Iced Earth in 2003. To me, he sounded more like Symphony X's singer, which fits with Symphony X. Not with Iced Earth.
Violate fortunately is a song mostly dominated by the instruments, and it was still awesome. Stormrider was another highlight of the evening, with Jon Schaffer doing the singing instead of Tim Owens, and I would much prefer if he became the main singer for the band. All in all, they still put in a solid performance.
As I went home, I found out the train was 15 minutes late, which was a problem as I had to switch trains on the way home. Luckily, I still made it. Almost got involved in a brawl between a metaler and some guys that came back from going out, but luckily nothing happened.
Sorry, no pictures yet. Might find some later, so keep checking!
I've went to a few concerts lately. It all started with Fields of Rock back in june which was awesome and inspired me to go to more concerts. Testament followed in august and Dream Theater in october. Since then, I try to visit any concert which features bands that I enjoy. The problem obviously is that we don't control the setlist. Idea when bored -> Create your own ideal setlist and lineup from the bands! (Yup I'm bored.) Metallica: James Hetfield - Lars Ulrich - Cliff Burton - Kirk Hammett Setlist: 1.
