I just played this zvz on iccup (me C, him C+). Those who have read my previous blogs know how I play zvz. Although I swore to stop so I could improve my muta micro, I can't help but go for hydra/lurker/ensnare/plague every now and then.

Enjoy!

Hey. I approached you yesterday near the apartments at UCLA. You were wearing a WeMade Fox shirt. I forgot to ask for your TL.net name. Reveal yourself! Are you on the UCLA team for CSL yet?

From previous blog:

What's the best way to recover data from a flash drive? I googled this, but I don't know how effective it is.

The flash drive was already kind of broken when I was using it. When plugged in, it would periodically disconnect from the computer. Then one time, a pop-up said I needed to format the flash drive in order to use it. I brought it to someone who formatted it and then used some recovery program to retrieve the files. He got about 80% of the files back, but only about 25% of them can be opened. The rest give an error message.

Anything else I can do?

I thought I'd try to blog again since I'm getting extremely desperate. I have 5 personal statements that I can't open. This is what happens when I try to open one of the corrupted .doc files:

If I click yes, it tries to install the converter, but it can't since I don't have windows cd at the moment (at school). It eventually leads me here (same as if I had clicked no):

First, is there any way I can make that data viewable?

Second, I also have a lot of TMP files on the flash drive, e.g. _WRD0610.TMP. Is it possible to open them? Big thanks to anyone who can help me get these personal statements back.

Edit:
By using this feature:
I was able to recover fragments of 2 of the personal statements. In these recovered files, the formatting is messed up and there are weird characters, but there's also a decent amount of what I wrote in there.

I just finished summer school and have about two weeks free until school starts again.

Following something Nony did a while ago, I want to try some fun strategies (or maybe even handicaps) out on iccup. For example, someone asked Nony to go goon/ob/mass dt. The idea was to snipe his opponent's obs so his dts could kill freely.

If you have ideas similar to that (but for zerg), feel free to throw them out. If you've looked at my previous blog posts, you'll know I really like going hydra/queen in zvz and zvt, and occasionally burrowling in zvp.

Another thing is, I won't wait until I get a huge advantage in the game before doing the suggested strategy. That wouldn't be fun. Note I'm only B-, B at best, while Nony was way better, so I probably won't be as successful as him. Regardless of how well this goes, I'll post the interesting replays.

I've got some spare time and I'm itching to play d2 again. Anyone have any suggestions on a fun character I can solo with (at least until nightmare)? I haven't played in a long time but I played hammerdin the last time I played.

Any suggestions or a site with some good guides? Thanks.

It took 194 games, which is way more than a busy college student should be playing, but I finally reached B. With only one week left in the season, this looks like a good place to stop. Next season, my goal is to get better at muta micro so I can play conventional zvz. Since my muta micro is really bad, I've been using hydras in zvz or playing Terran instead to avoid the matchup altogether. But in order to get better, I'm going to need to learn how to muta micro. I finally have to admit to myself that hydras aren't viable in zvz.

Matchup statistics
zvz: 6 wins, 10 losses, 37.5%
zvp: 38 wins, 39 losses, 49.4%
zvt: 36 wins, 28 losses, 56.3%
tvz: 22 wins, 12 losses, 64.7%

As expected, my zvz is my worst matchup. Surprisingly and sadly, my offrace has a better win percentage than my main race.

Goal for next season
- Get better at muta micro
- Get at least B+

Decent games at B- level
zvp @ Destination - just a standard game:

zvp @ Colosseum - burrowling vs 2gate:

zvt @ Destination - hydra/lurk:

zvt @ Destination - using drops:

zvz @ Destination - hydra:

zvz @ Colosseum - hydra again:
http://www.repdepot.net/download.php?type=rep&id=13328&name=slaustkdchlrh+vs+Blind.rep

zvp @ Colosseum - the win that got me to B:

Notice how I don't make any muta in any of these replays. I wasn't kidding about that awful muta micro.

Here are three fun games I played on iCCup. (First game is D, last two games are C+)

Game 1 (zvp): I 5pooled, thinking I could get a quick advantage against an FE. It turned out he 2gated, so my 5pool did no damage. I was able to recover by making a hidden expansion and using a lot of guerilla tactics.
Replay: http://www.repdepot.net/download.php?type=rep&id=12357&name=flocos87+vs+Blind.rep

Game 2 (zvt): I played this zvt like it was a zvp: triple evolution chambers with mass hydra/ling. I guess this is called sauron style zerg? I throw in some ensnares later in the game to make an already weird game weirder.
Replay: http://www.repdepot.net/download.php?type=rep&id=12359&name=MiG.Largo+vs+Blind.rep

Game 3 (zvp): I opened with 9pool speed, hoping to apply pressure to opponent's FE, but again, my opponent didn't FE. Instead, he did a 1gate tech and defended against my initial 6 lings losing only 2 probes. I ended up resorting to drone drilling, hoping to end the game quick with an all-in ling attack. There is a surprise in this game

This has to be one of the most fun games I ever played. It's zvz. Opponent opens up with a 9pool/lair while I do 12hatch. I lose my natural, but an impulsive tactic turns the game around.

I have to start this off by apologizing because this is another one of my many help threads.

What I want to do: save this site on to my computer, or better yet, save the video on that site onto my computer. I want to be able to play the video without internet.

Things I've tried:
(1)saving the entire page on to my computer, but when I open it, the layout is messed up, images are missing, and the video isn't even there.

(2) viewing the source of the page and unsuccessfully trying to find the url of the video so I can just save that.

Any ideas?

Why I want to do this:
In case you're wondering, I'm going up to the mountains this weekend with an education-based organization. We're trying to find ways of improving teaching students, so I want to show this video to the other members. I assume there won't be internet in the mountains, so I'll need to be able to view this video offline. So this is for a good cause and I'd appreciate any help!
