I recently learned that, according to Hinduism, a being’s soul is immortal, and goes through a cycle of reincarnations designed to bring said soul, or atman, closer to a spiritual realization of it’s true self. This cycle, known as samsara, continues until the atman moves past the desire for fleeting, worldly pleasures and onto a quest for spiritual enlightenment.

Normally I would stick this info in one of my mind grapes until I had to squeeze it out later, or it would shrivel into a forgotten raisin. This time was different. It all sounded too familiar. Then it hit me all at once.

Stork has been possessed by the very same evil atman that took over the Jim Kelly-era Buffalo Bills.

For those of you who understand the previous statement: I KNOW, RIGHT?!

For the rest of you, I’ll explain:

In 1990, the Buffalo Bills went 13-3 in the regular season and stormed through the playoffs, only to lose to the New York Giants in an extremely close contest. The deciding moment would come when Bills’ kicker Scott Norwood made a crucial mistake, missing a field goal wide in the waning seconds of the game.

In the ’07 GOMTV S2 MSL, Stork would reach the finals and keep it close until forgetting Dragoon range in the final game.

Norwood had range, he just misclicked

In 1991, the Bills repeated their regular season success, finishing 13-3 for the second straight time. They would face the Washington Redskins and first time Super Bowl quarterback Mark Rypien. They would lose the game soundly, 24-37.

In the 2007 Ever OSL, Stork plowed through Flash and Bisu, only to face then first-time Starleague finalist Jaedong. He would lose the finals soundly, 1-3.

The Bills would make it to the Super Bowl twice more, losing each championship game to a Cowboy’s team on their way to success. The Bills played better in the rematch, even leading at halftime, but neither contest finished especially close.

Almost, Jim, almost.

Stork would follow his two previous Starleague losses with back to back second place finishes, losing each final to Flash, a rising Terran player. After losing 3-0 in the Bacchus OSL, Stork would push Flash to five games in the GOMTV Star Invitational. Up 2-1 at one point, he ultimately fell short, losing the series 2-3.

See Jim? Do it like that.

This is where it all gets a little fuzzy. Being just a Hinduism novice, I’m not sure if the atman stayed with the Bills after those Super Bowls, causing the subsequent failures of the franchise, or if it left after the ’93 game, leaving the Bills to collapse on their own under the crushing weight of their chronic failure.

Hopefully, this monstrous atman has left Stork to his own devices. Still alive in both leagues, I hope Stork shows us all that their ain’t no atman left in that man, and that his long spell of so close for so long is finally over.

Also, if you’re reading this, evil atman, I hear there are plenty of openings in the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, or practically any other non-New York sports franchise. Check the Red Sox first, though.

The computer I have now is atleast 3 years old, and a little sluggish. It's a P4 2.8Ghz, with 512M ram and an nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200.

It's most noticeable when I'm using multiple programs or graphics-intensive software. What I'm wondering is would it make sense to get more ram/better video card, or should I just wait a little while and get a whole new computer?

I'm kinda bored and I'm sitting here with some whiskey. Rather than stare into the middle distance of my darkened room, I thought I'd hammer out a stream of consciousness blog.

Eurocup:
Russia played well today, but I think NLD defense really gave the game away. Hiddink proved yet again that he's a brilliant coach though. Really looking forward to Spain/Italy tomorrow.

Movies:
In Bruges comes out this week on DVD, can't wait to buy it. What a great movie. Great stuff from Gleeson, Farrell and Fiennes. I can't wait to see McDonagh's next movie, as his plays are fucking awesome.

The Love Guru looks like the biggest piece of shit ever. Doesn't Mike Myers have enough money that he doesn't have to make this ridiculous schlock?

TV:
Psych and Monk come back this summer, as well as Burn Notice. USA Network has some really great shows, one of if not the best lineups on TV right now.

I went to the store today to get a headset/microphone for my comp, and I also picked up a Van Gogh "Starry Night" mousepad. I'm so classy.

I find myself strangely attracted to Mariska Hargitay on SVU.

I'm also going to see Eddie Izzard next saturday!

This Nike commercial is awesome, directed by Guy Ritchie.

That's all for now I guess.

I'm pretty shocked by this.

I want to say more but idk what to say. Really talented film maker. I met him once after a lecture in New York, and even though I just asked him dumb question after dumb question, he was really open and profound, expounding on things I never would've given a second thought to otherwise. I was lucky to have met him.

If you saw the blog title and thought it applied to you, welcome! If you saw this blog title and want to flame me, welcome! If you clicked this blog by accident, welcome! If you're a homeless man who found this webpage on the computer at the library, welcome!

Lately I've been listening to stuff like Neutral Milk Hotel, The Decemberists, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party and Death Cab for Cutie.

I'm looking for more good bands like this that I might not know about or hear about. Post stuff here and I'll track it down and listen to it.

PS - If you post a Youtube link to a song, do me a favor and put it in a spoiler. My browser goes a little crazy when there's too many youtube videos loading on one page.

I posted on the iccup forum, but I know it might be a while before I get an answer, so maybe someone here can help me:

I was playing a game when my opponent paused for about 2 mins. About a min after he came back, I got that message "Your connection to battle.net has been lost". Anyway, he left the game like 1 min later (even though the game wasn't close to over), and now every time I try to get back on iccup, I lose my connection after about 1 minute.

I also noticed that I had advloader open (but not loaded) when I was on iccup.

Was I banned for having ADV open, or was it something about that game, or is it some problem on my end?

If anyone here knows, or if an iccup admin reads this, maybe you can help me out.

I think this show is probably the funniest comedy on TV right now.

Here's the first episode of Season 3:

There are very few things that have stayed constant for me these past few years. They include, but are not limited to, movies, grilled cheeses, and Starcraft. Alcohol is rushing this exclusive frat now that athleticism has moved away, and I’ve heard promising things about the kid, but this isn’t about him. It’s not about movies or my delicious pal, The Big Cheese, either. It’s about my Paul McCartney, Starcraft.

The fact is, Paul and I have grown apart, and I’m not sure why. I still like Starcraft. I even play a game every day or two, at least. It just doesn’t feel the same anymore. Remember when going to a place like McDonalds was an event? You spent the ride there thinking about your order, wondering what toy you were going to get, praying you didn’t have it already. Now, it’s just a convenience. I don’t feverishly rub my hands together as I pull up to the drive thru. Starcraft is starting to feel the same way.

Now when I play, I feel like I’m just going through motions, no matter how fun I try to make each individual game. Its how I imagine Gallagher feels the second before he’s about to smash another watermelon, or how Paris Hilton feels as her boyfriend turns off the lights and switches on the video camera.

Even watching progamers is underwhelming to me now. The leagues are riddled with new faces and maps, and I haven’t been keeping up. Talking to me about Starleagues at this point would be like showing a dog a card trick. I don’t like this at all. I feel like a marriage is breaking up. I want Starcraft to roll over in bed and snap me out of it. (I know I’m really mixing metaphors at this point, sorry)

I need some help rekindling my interest. But for right now, Big Cheese and I are going to go haze the new guy.
