Now, I prefer Obama more than McCain. But I think some people are taking Obama wayyyyy too seriously. I don't usually like Glenn Beck, but even the most fervent Obama supporter has to admit this is funny. Unless youtube is a good indicator, which implies that I will be denigrated as a hatemongerer and a racist
Earlier today I was feeling really sleepy and wasn't able to do much with my head-I was really fatigued. Now, 12 hours later (without caffeine) I feel fine fatiguewise but I have had on-off fevers and I have some white patches in my throat and it may be strep or godforbid mono. I dunno why it'd be mono though as I haven't kissed nobody, I am ridiculously sterile, I don't know anybody who has it and I never drink from the same glass as someone else.
I really, really hope it's not mono. At least strep goes away in a week with antibiotics. Getting mono at a workaholic school like Uchicago is going to be hell.
I am now swapping my main race from Terran to Zerg.
I have no idea how, but my ZvP, ZvT, and ZvZ all are positive win ratios for me. My Terran this season is craptacular (I dunno how my 12-11 terran last season went to 2-15) (vs Z/P/T) Zerg 10-6 | 63% | 16 games 1-0 (100%) 4-3 (57%) 5-3 (63%)
Clearly I must be doing something right as Zerg that I'm not doing as Terran. Fuck, I even have a positive win ratio against Protoss. That has NEVER happened. And my wins aren't all 3 hatch mutaling anymore. They're actually legitimate wins.
This must have something to do with how I learned to lurker push the other day. Thanks Faust ^^
As it turns out, my standard play has been suffering as of late. My late game TvZ used to be really up there, but recently I've just been abysmal at TvZ in general. Likewise, my TvP remains equally bad, and my TvT was always just below average.
My victories: TvP, Biomech timing rush TvZ, Valkyrie-Wraith-Dropship (hilarity ensued) TvZ, all in SCV TvT, 2 Fact Vult ZvT, 3 hatch ling ZvP, Mutaling All-In ZvT, Mutaling timing attack ZvP, mass crackling elimination race vs. carriers ZvP, Slow Drop
as you can see, my victories are all relatively non-standard builds, and my losses are all standard. Clearly something is up here, and it's probably my shitty mechanics. Any tips on improving mechanics?
So the stock market is crashing worldwide, and shows no sign of stopping. There are rumors that society itself may collapse, even with swift government reactions. What have you done to prepare for this possible collapse?
Personally, at University, it is pretty hard for me to be able to do anything much, especially in Illinois, that bastion of anti-gun law. So I bought a wrench yesterday and some canned food/other foods, and have a lot of bottled water. I suspect that will be only enough to last aboud two weeks, so I also have a Brita filter to get me a little bit more water.
The good news is as I'm on the lake and I know how to fish, I may be able to feed myself there. The bad news is it's nice to have electricity and not being cold in Chicago, and that may be a problem.
as you may or may not know, the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) has a name contest-make a new name by Friday. I submitted the following:
Dear Mr. Edwards:
My idea for a new name for the LHC is the Colliding Regulating Analyzer for Proton-Proton Emissions, or CRAPPE. Not only does it distinguish all of the separate actions of the LHC, namely, the regulating of collisions, the analysis of certain object of interest, and of course the proton beam collosions, but it also is much easier to pronounce than LHC. Whereas LHC requires three widely different syllables for the typical English speaker, CRAPPE requires a mere two, thus saving 33% of the time to be used for further discussion of the wonders of sub-atomic physics.
Another advantage of the name is it is carefully designed to avoid any of the absurd sexual innuendo that is brought on by a common misspelling of the word "hadron," as many people spell it "hardon," thus absolutely befuddling the typical layman. This particular acronym not only has relatively simple words that layman can understand, and if misspelled will be extraordinarily difficult to transmute into such sexually lewd language.
The original idea was the slightly smaller acronym CRAPE. It has one syllable and 17% less lettering, but the disadvantage of this acronym is that it sounds utterly like a French dish and would lead to further confusion. CRAPPE takes care of this mixture with delicious pancakes with the completely different pronounciation.
Alternatively, one may use Proton Emission Watcher, or PEW, as an acronym, as well as Grand 2-proton Galvanizer, or G2G.

And my response was
*******,
Many thanks indeed for your eloquent pitch. My "Unread Email" count was in four figures yesterday morning, so only the entertaining entries have kept me sane.
Despite all my hating on him, after much heartfelt deliberation i've decided to commit my vote for that half-black man, Obama. It has nothing to do with my agreement (or there lackof) with Obama's economic policies. It has only slightly more to do with my agreement (or there lackof) with Mccain's economic policies.
Obama and McCain have the same economic policy: regulate more, government more, etc. Either one would do the same thing to the economy.
The real factor, though, is that McCain is very antagonistic towards Russia. And Putin recently sent nuclear capable bombers to Venuzuela with our dickering in Georgia and Ukraine. I am heavily concerned that McCain will likely invade Iran and/or Russia, causing a massive nuclear war that will result in the entire eradication of 95% of the world population. Call me crazy, but can't you call McCain crazy too? At the very least, I'd rather not be drafted. Under Obama, I may be poor, but at least I'm alive, whereas under McCain, I'll be poor and dead.
So congratulations Democrats, you've got this hardline anarcho-capitalist's vote. Not just because Obama has a teensy weensy bit of laissez-faire in him, nor because he used to teach at my college. But because the alternative is far, far, worse.
