So my Birthday was the other day. Since car insurance rates can change not just from driving record, making payments on time always, or having a plan for a set amount of time I got a letter saying call my insurance immediately to get "NEW LOWER RATES!!" (because I'm now 24 y.o.).
1st call: So I call them "immediately", guy says he'll transfer me over to my agent, on hold for 2 minutes, guy picks back up asks me for Driver's License-- tells me my agent is Evonne and transfers me again, 30 seconds later he picks back up and says Evonne isn't in right now. Call back on Monday (This was a Friday afternoon).
2nd call: So I call back on Monday, talk to Evonne and she tells me I can get 12$ bucks cheaper to a 42$ a month plan. Says I need to either come in or get to a computer and fax to do all the shit. (I was assuming this would be some quick change over the phone). So I tell her I'll be at work tomorrow at 1:30pm and can use the fax and computer there.
Lol, ok so I get to work and I'm grabbing my shit out of my car, making sure I have everything and locking the doors, keys are laying on the seat and I check my pockets. Door shuts, its locked. Lmao. So now I'm trying to McGuyver the side/back window open with something so I can jam a stick into the lock through the crack of the window. Luckily some construction workers had a bin full of crap across the street and I found a long ass stick. The problem was though, I had to get the window cracked first. Was trying to use 4 gift cards and make handles and pull it open. Didn't work. So after like 15 minutes, I'm gonna be late for work and just leave. (I park a block away and skate to work) I get into work and start looking for shit to use to get the window cracked. Grabbed a broom, unscrewed it, took the wood. Took a bunch of accessories shit off the wall, and took one of those metal hooks. Tell my co-worker I'll brb and run out just as fast as I came in. I get back to my van, and the shit still won't open with the metal hook and it seems like I'm gonna crack or break something. Before I give up I check the opposite window and easily pop it open with my fingers..lol So now I still have the long ass stick and I'm trying to reach the same lock across the car, but the angle is too awkward and the stick is too long. So I go for the driver's side manual lock that's like a little hook, also too awkward. Running out of options, I decide to try and get the passenger side auto lock switch but its just every so slightly out of range and the long ass stick takes hulk strength at this angle to hold up and steady for even 3 seconds. I barely nicked it and it made the 'unlock' sound but the locks just toggled up/down real fast. lmao again. realizing I got lucky and running out of time, patience, and strength I just stand there looking in the window befuddled. Then I noticed that the front locks re-toggled but the back lock is different and actually unlocked! So I get my keys and get back to work at 1:20 explain my story to my co-worker/supervisor and he leaves.
McGuyver really has nothing on me in resourcefulness.
So back to the insurance story.
Finally settled in at work I decide to lock the store and handle this thing real fast with no interruptions.
3rd call: So I call her up and shes actually with another client and gives me the "I'll call you back in 10 minutes thing" I tell her that I'm in a hurry and It would actually be easier if I called her back and she concedes and just tells me to hold on. 3 minutes later, she tells me a bunch of shit already know and confirms all my information that we both already know. Then she goes "Ok, I need you to write this and sign and fax it "blah blah blah.. Cancel current plan... blah blah", wait a minute what the fuck? Nobody told me about canceling my current plan and signing up a new one with another company (I shoulda known it was too good to be true). *Note + Show Spoiler +
I have 'Freeway Insurance' and they operate by searching all insurance companies for lowest rates etc. I have Access General currently.
That would be fine except that I'm pretty sure that it isn't free to cancel and sign up new contracts EVER. And this bitch is failing to mention anything unless I ask about it. She tells me that its a 20 dollar cancellation fee that can't be waived and there is another 30 bucks for the first month on the new plan plus the original 42$ and god knows what else documentation fees and other bullshit they try and nickel and dime you with. So, I straight up tell her "Wtf, why would I cancel my new plan to SAVE money if I'm actually spending more than I would be on my current plan for the next 12 months." She is speechless, and I ask her If I would be able to do this later if I felt like it (really after I worked out all the math). And she tells me the rates might change but yeah.
So, first month 92$ (plus whatever else ) Next 5 = 210 , total 302$
Compared to current 6 mos. = 324$ (Wow, a whole 20 bucks!)
Next 6 mos. New = 252$ Current = 324$ Difference = 72$, + 20$ = 92$ total saved for a year.
Is it really worth it? What if in 3-6 more months they drop my rates again even lower and offer me something even cheaper? I really don't know exactly how that works (assuming I keep a clean driving record and pay on time).

Alcohol and beer should be required to have the nutrition facts just like other foods. Most beers (12oz) even shitty Coors lights are at least 100 calories each, And lots of beers get up to 160ish (same as soda basically). I recently discovered that even hard alcohol like vodka and shit is gonna be like 60 calories or so, not even including chasers. All beers should also show Alcohol % by volume as well. Most do not.
Also, all products and chemicals should be required to show ingredients. Lots of times I'll have some chemicals or body products that do not tell what are in them and that can be dangerous if you mix them. Besides I just want to know what I am cleaning my house with or rubbing on my body in the shower.
This is kind of a no brainer, why haven't they done this?
Often times when I drink I end up drinking 8-10 beers (or more) and thats equal or greater than what I have eaten that day in calories/sugars.
If its consumable (one way or another) it should have an ingredients info label.
Came home from my gf's house (from a previous night of partying) and found a tax refund of 750$ and a insurance referal 25$ bonus check waiting for me (I referred a friend who got a great deal, win/win/win situation). Later that day, this sexy little philipino/spanish chick (I met like 2 years on myspace through mutual music interests) starts calling/texting me again (including sexy pictures).
I was supposed to meet up with her that night but my phone died when I got to the party she was heading to (which ended up having seriously the entire Santa Ana police department breaking it up. like 18 cop cars, a few vans & SUVs, K9, sheriff, and gang units, etc.)
So that sucked balls, after a few failed 1AM attempts to find her house and/or buy a charger I went home asap to charge my phone and call her. She was really horny and sent me more sexy and naked pics.
So the next day I decided to let my gf go. I'm a bad bf anyways, she should have dumped me a year ago. Its a really hard situation for me because I really 'like' her but I know it'll never be anything more than that for me, like it is from her point. I know shes gonna fall hard, because I tried to leave before and she cried all day/night. I feel bad but I think its worse to sort of lead her on.
Its also kind of difficult because I enjoy her company and I still wanna do the same things we always do (go out for lunch, run some errands, hang out, come over at night and watch movies, share hugs/kisses etc.), and I told her this, but she has this "friends don't do these things" attitude. To me she has this warped idea that boyfriend and girlfriend have to be in love or whatever, and friends have to act a certain way. Imo, people should just do whatever they want and not be bound by some unwritten code.
Its really hard to explain but basically, I mean well. I've seriously been trying to find a good way to let her down without destroying her (like the time I cold turkeyed it) ever since she 'fell in love' with me. It just came to me on Sunday to tell her that I want to just be really good friends with her still and still be there whenever she needs something. Anything at all, including ALL the huge spectrum of things a normal bf would do.
She has been crying a little bit here and there, but I've been trying my hardest today and yesterday to keep her spirits up. For the most part she has this sad look on her face and is quiet which I am also trying my hardest to resist from relapsing into 'her' relationship. Because afterall relationships should be mutual feelings.
Ok, so besides all this (which is not necessarily bad) I got a new stereo system for my van (I seriously know shit about wiring and stereos). Its a Sony CDX-GT420IP 120$, and the dash kit/wires for another 40$. I hooked it all up and it works perfect, came with ipod connector/charger included. I'm stoked. Bought a few other stupid things I've been meaning to buy around the house and have tons of money to spare and will probably be getting the 'Economic Stimulus Payment' check ($600) soon too.
I plan to fix a bunch of shit that is messed up around my grandma's house with all this money too. I've already done a few 'cheap fix' things like re-caulking the bathtub.
PS- If anyone read all of my ramblings, know that I wrote it spontaneously and didn't edit or re-read any of it for clarity. PPS- did you know that a cellphone deposit doesn't actually get returned to you after the contract is completed? Why the hell is it called a deposit instead of a down payment or something? A deposit on an apt. or something usually implies return upon successful completion.

PS- Something I left out when ripping with DVD shrink. Make sure that you don't rip too large of a file, if need be- take out other languages, commentaries, deleted scenes, or whatever you don't care about.

I've said this before in other threads that most people probably didn't see. Just thought I would share my secret with the masses.
Basically this works the opposite way as NoScript addon (which only allows whitelisted sites) by blacklisting sites. The only problem with this is that you can't preemptively type in a site you want to be blacklisted (you have to actually be at the page and tell YesScript to block it).
I also recommend the NoScript addon: After you install it, right click the little 'S!' icon then go Options>Notificications and then turn off the "Show message about block scripts". Every time you go to a new site you will have to tell it to allow the site or you can just type in a bunch of sites into the whitelist tab under options ahead of time.

PS-Once you install the addon/extension it will create a little white-bluish paper icon in the bottom right hand corner.
When you open www.theinternetisseriousbusiness.com page you will have to click that paper icon while the page is bouncing around. It will change to black. Once you do that the page will stop and you can close it. Wah-lah.
Did you ever notice that you cannot take a screenshot of a movie that is playing through windows media player or VLC player? In fact if you do and open the file in MSPaint it will show a black video screen (if you closed the video) or it will continue to show what the video is showing (if its playing it will play through paint). Did you ever wonder why that is and how you can get around it (without buying some stupid software)? Well follow this very simple guide and you'll be set.
The free and simple way to capture Images from Windows Media Player:
1 Open Window Media Player 2 Then go to Tools>Options 3 In Options, select the Performance Tab 4 Down below, click on the Advanced Button 5 Uncheck 'Use Overlays' 6 Click Apply/Ok
Now run your video in any size or screen resolution. Press 'Print Screen Key' as normal. If this doesn't work still, read on:
Try pressing "CTRL+I". This pops up a 'save as' window after capturing the screenshot. Save it where you want it and wah-lah.
If you still have problems, here is a continuation to the last method:
After you open Window Media Player. Go to Tools>Options>Performance Tab. You will see a picture. Reduce the "Video acceleration" from the default 'Full' to 'None', click 'Ok' and then close down media player.
Next, open the file you want to take a still image of using the Print Screen method - press 'ALT' and 'PrintScrn' to copy an image of media player to the clipboard.
I just got off work today at 6:30 starving from not eating anything all day (all I had was orange juice and water). Being sick of the shitty restraunts and fast food that are nearby work or on the way home from work I decided to go out of my way to some new overpriced plaza and get some not-so-fast-food (which is usually a bit healthier as well).
So I decided to give Togos a try, I've never eaten there and don't plan to. So I go in their crappy store which smelled like mold or sticky old trash (or both). And noticed its one of those shitty half stores where they have a Baskin Robbins on one side of the place and Togos on the other, Fuck that.
After painstakingly looking through the ridiculously vague menu that only has big ass pictures and some minor descriptions with little or no prices listed anywhere and nothing on the menu says the size of and sandwiches or anything either. (Its really amazing to me how a menu can take up a whole 200-300 sq. ft. wall or whatever and still not list everything.)
I decided to go for the Sierra Steak sandwich (or whatever the fuck it was called). So I ask the guy how much it is and he doesn't even know and has to check the computer and tells me its 5.99$, to which I reply "for what a 6 inch? or what?". Now normally I would just leave right then because I'm not gonna pay a dollar an inch for some crappy sandwich, but since I was starving and I have a soft spot in my heart for all things spicy I tell him to give me one and a large soup of broccoli cheddar while hes at it.
So then the other guy starts to make my food and tells me I can get an "Endless Combo" (I figure they mean the shitty food and prices are endless.), to which I reply "Sure, Whatever is cheaper for me man" and he says "Ok". Then I see that the 'endless combo' is the same price as just the sandwich. So you can get your sandwich and a salad or a soup with it. So I'm thinking, wow thats what I want. Its practically a free soup after all, score.
So I stand there for about 3-4 minutes while he builds my sandwich and a bunch of snotty little kids run around and bitch to their lazy mom about getting ice cream. It still smells like mold or some shit too. While the other teenage workers are helping each other hold ice cream scoops and playing grab ass or whatever the fuck Togos workers do. "We're big boys" is what I heard one of them say to their acne scarred boss as he left.
As hes making it I noticed there was some addon combo deal thing for chips and a soda but no price so I ask him what that is, if its part of the endless combo or what. Then he asks the head retard in the back and replies to me that its for some DVD or something. Wtf? So I say fuck it, its not worth even trying to figure out at this point.
So the sandwich is done and the guy grabs my soup and has to take a shit break or something and tells the other loser to finish with my order/payment. He takes my card and says to my surprise "11.94$" and I go "Wtf, no its 5.99. I got the endless combo" So now they are back there arguing about what I ordered when I just told them what I ordered. This gives me a some time to look at the wall and try to piece together the jigsaw puzzle menu and figure out what I ordered, what they charged me for, and how ridiculous their pricing works. Apparently a Regular soup is 2.49 (8oz.) and a Large is 2.99 (12oz.) and a Bread bowl soup is 4.49 (12oz.). (Thats cool a shitty soggy piece of bread for your bowl for an extra 2 bucks! sign me up!)
Next, these jack asses are telling me what I ordered and that the endless combo is a regular soup and a 4 inch sub. So there I am wondering how that 2 extra inches of a sub and 4 more Ounces of soup cost $5.50++. Seriously, wtf?
Finally, I tell them to just give me the 'endless combo' like I ordered. So now the dumb ass is mad and slaps my card down on the counter and says in a scornful manner "Fine, Its gonna take a while.". Then I'm like, "Can't you just take it out of what you already made?" He replies, "No, its a totally different thing". Irritated as hell myself I finally realize they are probably gonna remake it shitty as hell and not just fucking give me what they already made. I decide to leave. A big "Fuck it, I'm out of here." comes out of my mouth as I grab my card and walk out of that stinkhole.
EPILOGUE: My logic is that they just lost 11.94$ for no reason when they could have at the very least scrapped it and saved some of the profit. But no, they have to be some dumb shit kids with rich snob crappy attitudes who work at Togos cause daddy made them so they can 'learn responsibility'. They were probably happy I left the food so they could eat it themselves for free. I had the food in my hand before he took my card, I should have just walked out with it. I never planned to eat at Togos ever, they were lucky I was hungry today to even give them a chance at all. I don't ever plan to in the future either. Fuck this shitty overpriced shithole.
Long Story short, This is my grandma\'s house shes sick right now in the hospital with a stomache problem. My Loving Aunt and Uncle decided a few days ago we were going to have a \'family talk\' today at 8 am.
So the \'family talk\' is basically them 2 just yelling at us, telling my sister, her BF, their baby, and I (and my mom and her BF who aren't here for this) that we need to leave by September 1st. Why the hell did this have to be done at 8am on a Sat. and not a week ago? Why do we even need to discuss this like this anyways, why not just tell us when you told us to come to this meeting?
I don\'t pay rent here but I do whatever anyone asks me to do around the house aside from shit I normally do like yardwork, clean the pool, trash, buy groceries (that I never even eat), etc. I\'ve been doing yardwork around here even when I didn\'t live here. Been doing it for like the passed 5 years, only lived here for about a year.
The \'Family talk\' consisted of my uncle calling us lazy and saying we don\'t do shit or pay rent. I told how the fuck do you know you are never even here. And he basically called me a liar. He also said that she is not coming home with anyone in the house so if she comes home tomorrow we got to be out today.
Anyways I have a week to get all my shit out of the house and find a place to live. I have $263.01 in the bank, no car (I drive mom\'s BF\'s van). Which is part of the reason why I don\'t pay any rent, I\'m saving for a car among other things like MOVING OUT OF HERE. Which now I cannot do because I\'m gonna have to fucking pinch every penny for food, rent, and other fun things that life requires.
My GF has been a bitch lately and I don\'t know if she would let me stay with her. Even if she does I don\'t know what I\'m gonna do with all my stuff. I had just recently signed up for cable internet contract and Blockbuster online thing too, which I'm going to have to deal with.
As many of you may know I just built a new computer and I had just signed up for the cable internet. My next step in my plan was to save up another $600 and do the deposit on Full Tilt and start playing poker so I could buy a car and move out etc. But this plan has been obviously ruined.
On top of all this my boss has been planning to close down the store I work at since last summer and turning it into something else. This job just makes me enough money to buy basic shit like food and gas with a couple hundred to save every month. So I might be out of a job too.
What perfect timing. Life is great.
UPDATE 10/06/07:
Well right now its actually even more fucked up. I moved into my GF's house with her mom,dad, and brother. I paid 200 for last months rent and am supposed to for every add't month (plus whatever utility goes up, which is like 12 bucks for water and shit).
I didn't want to move in with my gf in the first place and situation has only gotten worse. I hate living with her, but I have to right now. I just got off the phone with her and she was crying saying its over etc. Which is why I say I am 'supposed to pay' that because this month has already started. I am seriously considering taking all my shit and bouncing.
Shes inconsiderate, disrespectful, insulting, stupid, alcoholic (along with all her loser degenerate friends), and a bitch, among other things. And her family dislikes me for whatever reason for the most part because I don't feel the need to socialize with them constantly or some shit. I mostly keep to myself because I think thats how people should be, minding their own business. Its not like I'm a mute antisocial or anything, I just don't care for their company. Which should make perfect sense to my gf because just about every day her mom comes home and starts bitching and nagging everyone in the house about anything. But no instead of her ignoring it or just escaping the drama she gets heavily involved and ultimately starts taking it out on me and blaming me for shit etc. Its like shes one of those ignorant black chicks on Jenny Jones. Oh and I forgot to mention the house its pretty well stuffed full of clutter.
Anyways I'm not getting anywhere financially closer to getting a car (because paying for rent along with other things, I'm effectively stuck).I have about 600$~700$ in the bank. And for whatever reason my gf just stopped giving me rides to work (she still won't explain to me fully why she is doing this other than it was some kind of test to see how I acted when I didn't get my way) how the fuck did she expect me to react, "oh its ok, I'll take 4 buses every day instead". Its not like I want to rely on her or anyone for anything, just right now I fucking need to.
She is just too young and naive I guess, She obviously doesn't understand the concept of grinding everything out herself. Seeing as her family has provided her with everything she has ever needed in her life and especially taking for granted such luxuries as a car etc. My family on the other hand has giving me basically nothing except a roof over my head (which is gone now!). Even just eating is something I have had to do since I was in my early teens. Everything else I have earned on my own.
PS- My Mom and my aunt have been totally overhauling the house. Totally remodelled kitchen, new windows, new carpets, paint, the works. Meanwhile this whole time the house has been empty and in mine and my sister's rooms nothing. I could have been staying there this whole time with no harm to anyone whatsoever (I would pay the utilities etc and rent if asked for).
My gramma has been through a lot of complications, first it was a stomache thing, then a urinary tract thing, then pnuemonia and a collapsed lung, its been rough. I don't really like to visit people in the hospital because its depressing and shitty, and it makes me think that it makes them think I'm assuming they are on their deathbed or whatever. I just block it out and hope they get better. I did talk to her on the phone and her voice was all fucked up to the point where I couldn't even understand what she was saying.
Anyways, My mom-who has been visiting her practically day and night, said she is really recovering nicely and can come home but is choosing to stay at the hospital for rehabilitation and monitoring. She had to relearn how to swallow and stuff, its really disheartening to think about. She says my gramma really misses me and wants to see me and stuff. Knowing my mom I don't know if shes just making up a white lie or whatever but its kinda confusing, because one minute she wants everyone out then she wants everyone by her side.
I had dinner with my mom yesterday and I said I am sick of my GF etc. She said my gramma would probably be cool with me moving back in for like $100 a month and doing the stuff I normally did (like mowing the lawn, etc).
I dunno, I'll probably go visit my gramma sometime this week and see how she is doing and maybe talk about this. I feel like an asshole though just for the fact that I'm going in hopes of her being healthy enough to discuss such things. I'm still kind of mad at her for the whole fucked up situation in the first place.
EDIT- 10/08/07 My mom's BF said he would sell me the crappy van that I was using previously for (2000$) 500$ up front and 100$ every month until the rest of the 1500$ is paid. I really don't want this POS because its a gas guzzler, bad handling/acceleration, ugly, radio/stereo don't work right, Windows down't work, etc. But Beggars can't be choosers I guess. And its slightly patched up with my gf right now. I'm being extremely nice to her and trying hard as I possibly can to use my 'Thumper Mentality'. + Show Spoiler +

Yea, I can see exactly how this can hurt someones feelings, but why the hell ask the questions if not to better yourself with the constructive criticism? Its like shooting the messenger.

edit- 10/20/07 So I'm planning on moving out/getting kicked out. I have no where to go and I literally have 4 dollars in teh bank and 10 in my pocket for the next week since I bought the van. I might end up living in this beast for a while. 11-2-07 Stupid fuckin van won't start. I just makes some clicking noise when i turn the key (might be the alternator?). I owe anohter 150$ on it as of yesterday. I owe my gf's mom 200$ for rent unless I move out soon (was planning to). Need to find a new job. Oh yea I got like 170$ in the bank.
Ok the van needed a jump. My mom said it might need a new battery which is like $50 bucks. I still haven't put the car in my name which is more money I don't have. Do I even technically have to do that ? I mean I paid 450$ up front but thats not even 1/4 of the total cost and I don't have any pink slip or papers saying the car belongs to me.

The Winner gets to punch the loser in the arm, but if the loser went first and lost he has a chance to tie because the winner has to match his turns.
This game is really fucking hard. I don't know if we ever finished the whole deck. (I think its 402 push-ups total.) Man did it feel good to pull a 2-heart after an A-club
My other friends used to play a variation of this game originally we put set some rules to it and as far as we know we invented it.
EDIT- Throw in some jokers and make them equal to ten *plyo push-ups.
*A plyo push-up is where you do a normal push-up on the down stroke but on the up stroke you jump in the air with feet and hands and/or clap in the air.
