Dealing with a depressed girlfriend.
DoctorHelvetica, Aug 28 2008
My girlfriend has really big depression issues, and I don't know how to deal with it.
She talks about how she's never happy, she'll never be happy, her mom is a horrible bitch (true), and she won't be able to live independently when she graduates highschool.
However, instead of dealing with it in a healthy way, she stopped seeing her therapist, instigates her mother, stopped taking prozac, won't go to tennis (one of the few things she likes), and refuses to talk to any of her friends.
Essentially, I'm the only one she talks to. I want to help her, I really care about her, and I would want to help anyone with these problems because I delt with them myself.
My father was an abusive alcoholic, my step-father is verbally abusive, my mother is so absorbed in her stress issues she borders on negligent, and cycles into overbearing. I dealed with my depression by realizing how insignificant these problems are, since soon I will be an adult and can live my own life, free of family trouble.
But how do I get her train of thought on the same track? It's really frustrating.
She says that when she goes to college she still won't be happy, even free of her family troubles. She says she'll be lonely so she'll turn into a drunk slut, so she can socialize and meet people.
It's of course the opposite of what I'd like her to be. I have a beef with teen drinking, because of a friend who died in a car accident after a party, and a friend who was raped. I'm also scarred from my childhood, which may make my demonization of alcohol irrational, but there is no reason for a girl, especially an intelligent one such as her to turn into a drunk slut.
What do I do? I wish this was as easy as Protoss. Any advice?
Travis?

It would be nice to have a serious practice buddy.
DoctorHelvetica, Aug 18 2008
I'm sick of being the worst terran in the world, and I'd like someone of equal or slightly higher skill level perhaps to be a practice buddy with me.
And I don't mean someone flaky, who'll mass game me one day and then never talk to me again. Someone to analyze reps with me, play over and over again.
So if you're a D-/D level player and having difficulty against Terran players, PM me or something.
Don't PM me if you're not serious. I'd rather noone PM me at all than someone who won't take it seriously.

Did I mention fusionsdf is the best person ever?
DoctorHelvetica, Aug 11 2008
Seriously.
What a sexy gosu wizard. Wizard of my heart, and probably wizard of yours. I can't find a picture of him, because it's probably too handsome to even exist.

My horrific dental surgery.
DoctorHelvetica, Aug 09 2008
Today I went into surgery to remove my wisdom teeth, and an impacted tooth that was causing my jaw to rot, or something horrible like that.
Anyway, I have four stiches where my wisdom teether are, and one huge one where they ripped out my tooth, cut my gums open, sawed some of my jaw out and replaced it with plastic.
I can't talk, I've spit up about a cup of blood, and I'm on vicodin so I can hardly walk.
GSL Finals here I come! gogogo.

Learning German!
DoctorHelvetica, Jul 26 2008
I just finished German 3-4 at my high school, and because of the idiotic decisions made by administrators there will not be a 5-6, AP, or summer class.
So would any german TL members be kind enough to help me practice or teach me a bit? Our german teacher was pretty terrible, and I forgot alot already this summer, but I really want to learn the language. My vocabulary is good enough to have simple conversations.

Displaying Hangul.
DoctorHelvetica, Jul 19 2008
I can't seem to display Hangul on any korean website.
I'm using Opera, and I've downloaded the Microsoft Korean Language pack, as well as two supposedly korean fonts. Yet it continues to be small blocks and squares.
Solution?

I applied for my first job.
DoctorHelvetica, Jul 18 2008
So I just applied to TJ Maxx, a clothing store near my house, and I'm pretty sure I'll be accepted.
I'm super excited, finally I will have money. It's pretty cool knowing I won't have to rely on my mom everytime I want something as simple as a movie ticket.
But at the same time, I'm a little nervous. Most of you guys have work experience. Any tricks of the trade, or tips for working at a clothing store, or just in general?

The Pedophilia Witch Hunt
DoctorHelvetica, Jul 13 2008
Something I've noticed these days, is wrinkly ugly feminists, barking out the word "pedophile" at every possible chance.
I was at the pool with my uncle, and he was teaching his daughter to swim. She's 6 years old, and its about time she learned, but when he lifted her in the water, some old bitch yelled at him for having his hand on her leg.
It's his daughter. Should parents and children keep an arms length distance from eachother at all time? Should fathers be afraid to hug their own children, or have an intimate, happy, and normal relationship with their own offspring? No, of course not. Gone are the days of old where you can sit on Grandpa's lap and hear stories from the "good ole' days". Because anyone who touches a child is a pedophile.
Even I experienced it. I was at the park, and some girl fell in the sand which I was near, and her parents weren't paying attention. The girl couldn't get up, so I helped her. I help her up, and the mom tells me "Don't touch my daughter!"
I'm there at the park with my girlfriend, we must be 16 year old pedoswingers looking to pick up a hot threesome right?
Jesus.
Don't get me started on the statutory rape laws. Girls in my highschool have had their boyfriends sued by their ignorant mothers, because they were 18-19, and the girl was 15-16. You think the 18-19 year old guy, of roughly the same maturity level is some sick freak?
Highschool girls like older men anyway. Of course, like any natural urge, it must be surpressed and ignored and blamed on Satan. Or pedophilia. Besides, attraction to teenage girls is ephebophilia and every man has it.
Has anyone else noticed this, or seen things like this?

Korean attitude toward foreigners?
DoctorHelvetica, Jul 12 2008
As one who has been thinking about moving to Korea, is their attitude toward foreigners as bad as countries like Japan?
I know in Japan its near impossible to get ANY job besides "english teacher", and I fear perhaps Korea is the same way. Any Koreans or Foreigners in Korea care to tell me how the public acts toward foreigners like me?
