Last night I fractured my left 5th metatarsal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metatarsus). I was at the gym practicing kickboxing, so you should probably have an idea of how it happened. Anyway, I live on campus at UC San Diego and have a few different gym choices. I decided to go to a farther gym then since my girlfriend want to stretch for dance with some of her friends. I'm really completely unflexible, which doesn't help for martial arts at all, so getting a good stretch was pretty attractive. We arrive, do a bunch of stretches, then all the dancers get into doing a few workouts. Since becoming flexible is a way higher priority for me than conditioning, I keep stretching. The room we used is multipurpose, and used by a few of the martial arts clubs, so there were a few upright punching bags supported by big fat bases. The gym I normally go to has regular suspended bags. I'm just waiting for the dancers to finish at this point, so I launch a few casual kicks and am pleased to discover the stretches helped a lot for kicking. Everything seems fine, until I make the mistake of launching a tornado kick on the bag. It actually went so high as to go over the top of the bag, which wasn't really a problem, but my left foot, instead of landing on solid ground like it normally would, landed partially on the bag's fat base. It slipped off after bending a great deal, but I managed to land standing. The first thing I noticed was a great (though tolerable) deal of pain in the outer side of my left foot.

At this point I didn't know that I had broken anything. I figured that the fact I was able to walk, even if walking caused excruciating pain in my foot, was a pretty good sign that it was just a bruise or something that would be fine overnight. I still was stuck at the gym though, but luckily my girlfriend's dorm was very close. It would have been hell to get to my dorm, which was about a mile away despite still being on campus. UCSD is ridiculously huge. I crashed at my gf's for the night, hoping that my foot would feel better in the morning. My foot did feel a lot better when I woke up, and I could hobble around well enough to take a campus shuttle to class.

I went to the student health center after class to make sure nothing serious was wrong. The guy who took my xrays was like "Hey come take a look at these. You sure did a doozy on that." From the picture, it would be pretty obvious to anyone that my bone was broken. The doctor said that he was surprised that I wasn't in a wheelchair and that I wasn't taking anything for pain.

The treatment isn't so bad. I just have to wear a hardsoled shoe for up to 6 weeks while it heals. I'm just a bit sad that I won't be functioning to my best abilities for the first few weeks of the school year. I was also going to take a kempo class, which I out the door until next quarter, I guess. The worst part of all this is the sheer size of UCSD. I walk so slowly that it takes forever to get anywhere. Getting between classes which have only a 10 min window of time between them and take a 10 min walk at normal pace is going to be a challenge. :/

Hey guys! There are a few orders of business that need to be taken care of. First off:

1. The Roster:
-Fontong(player/coach)
-besiger
-jello_biafra (newly joined)

Unconfirmed:
-pr0xi.beater
-randombum
-Ziras
-Butigroove: quit
-flow.of.soul

If you are unconfirmed please tell me whether or not you are playing!!

Out:
Duke: quit
intertinept: 2 week temp banned, dunno if he will be oming back

I have a feeling that the mods are in some sort of sadistic game in which they chose one kickball team and will ban them all...

Basically, I need to know what you want to play.

So, today my girlfriend got a job at a company called Vector Marketing. If you don't know what they do (I didn't), here is the wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_Marketing
Summary:

Vector Marketing is the domestic sales arm of Alcas Corporation, the Olean, New York-based company that manufactures Cutco products.

Salespeople, many of them college students and recent high school graduates[1] market Cutco products (mainly kitchen knives) to customers, especially their friends and family members[2] via one-on-one demonstrations, and (infrequently) through fairs & shows.[3] Vector builds its force through advertising via newspapers, Craigslist, direct marketing, MySpace, Facebook, word-of-mouth, posted advertisements, unsolicited mass text messages, and letters sent to students and recent graduates. Their fliers advertising "student work" are a common sight on many college campuses in the United States and Canada.

She was quite excited to get this job for the summer, since it pays about 16 dollars per 'appointment'. Apparently her job is to interview customers about their needs in order to sell them the correct product, which is what an 'appointment' consists of. Things were looking good, that is, until a mutual friend of ours sent us this site: http://www.spamlaws.com/vector-marketing-scam
+ Show Spoiler [what it says] +

A quick google turns up many hits for 'vector marketing scam' Naturally, this has her worried. After sifting through the information provided us by the internet, we really couldn't decide what to believe. There were some positive testimonies mixed in as well.

I am coming to you, teamliquid, for help. If you have had experience with Vector Marketing please tell us about it. Thanks!

If you like to, here's some wallpapers for you:

I know no one could possibly be a fan of all three of the above players at the same time, so here's one with only Jaedong:

Also here's some wallpapers with no men in it:
[image loading][image loading]

All of them are 1920 x 1080 in honor of my new 23" monitor, which is completely freaking awesome. These are some of the first wallpapers I've made, so don't be too harsh on me. Also if you want a specific combination of players in the image I can do that pretty easily, also I could resize but I would have to cut stuff off the sides to make it any other common resolution. If you want any random images edited you could ask me here too, I was gonna do some of the ones in RaptuhJeezus's thread in general but it got closed since he wasn't doing shit.

Enjoy!

Edit: feel free to give me suggestions on what to do in the future, here's what I'm thinking so far:
-Reach
-Boxer

Ok, I was at my friends house today for a lan. I guess I was really supposed to be just setting things up, but all I was really doing was editing the images for the winner league final. Man I can never get away from this site at any time of my life. Now I'm getting called out on it by one of my friends, apparently she keeps getting linked to stuff on teamliquid by her friends heheh. Then when she found out I'm a regular here she was like "!!!!!!!!!" because yeah. Also she went and searched for all my stuff on this site ;_; I guess it's ok though since there isn't anything too bad LOL. I bet she is looking at this right now o.O

Ok since I know no one cares about all of this I'll post something I've been working on.

I know it's tiny and everyone hates Bisu, but I did it as a request for one of my friends and he has a tiny monitor and likes Bisu. But supposing by some cosmic coincidence someone likes Bisu, likes the wallpaper, AND has a larger monitor I could be persuaded to make a larger version. Of course it would be a pain since my monitor is also tiny . I wanna get like a 22" widescreen or something so it's easy to have like 5 things going on at once on the screen and ez to edit images but I'm half asian and that side of me keeps telling me not to buy things.

Ok a bunch of random stuff. Just know that I'm working hard on the banner for CJ vs OZ to help everyone get hyped up on that EPIC match! I'm including savior in it too, since I know I'll get a bunch of crap if I don't.

Edit: thanks to Quickstryker, that guy is like my first and #1 fan, I hope he reads this!

THE TEA BLOG

So I have been drinking a lot of tea lately, really since I got to college. One of the big reasons I started drinking it is that it is a pain to go off campus to get drinks(especially gallon sizes, ect) and then have to drag them back to my dorm. It is much more convenient to just have tea around and then make it when I want to drink some, it doesn't really take up space either. Drinking tea at the end of a long day or while studying is pretty damn awesome, also when the dorm gets really cold. You can also drink it to calm your stomach, if you needed to for whatever reason, don't really know what this would be, yep.

I was just wondering what types of tea you guys like to drink. Since there's a lot of asians on TL I'm hoping for some good responses.

I stick to the basics really, the most famous types. Here are some of my favorites:

Thai Tea
+ Show Spoiler +

Thai tea is actually really good just by itself, I know people normally have just had it as milk tea though. It's also cool since it gets really orange(even though the color is food coloring XD)

Green Tea
+ Show Spoiler +

The classic of classic teas.

Jasmine Tea
+ Show Spoiler +

The other tea served at chinese restaurants. Jasmine tea is probably my favorite, somehow the fragrance leaves a nice feeling in your mouth.

Triple Leaf Tea
+ Show Spoiler +

Supposedly this tea can help reduce acne, which is useful since all the food served in my schools dining halls is super greasy. I'm not sure if it works but who cares, it has a nice kind of herbal minty type of flavor which is refreshing.

Vita Tea
+ Show Spoiler +

It doesn't fit with the rest, but I like this tea too. Anyone who hasn't tried this stuff is really missing out.

Did anyone know about these? I'm feeling kind of mindfucked despite the nature of these expansions.

Wikipedia article:

StarCraft's first expansion, Insurrection, was released for Windows on 31 July 1998.[50] The expansion was developed by Aztech New Media and authorized by Blizzard Entertainment.[51] Its story focused on a separate Confederate colony alluded to in the manual to StarCraft, following a group of Terran colonists and a Protoss fleet in their fight against the Zerg and a rising local insurgency. Insurrection was not received well, being criticized by reviewers for lacking the quality of the original game.[52] Insurrection was followed within a few months by a second expansion, Retribution. Developed by Stardock, published by WizardWorks Software and authorized by Blizzard Entertainment,[51] Retribution follows all three races attempting to seize control of a powerful crystal on a Terran Dominion colony. The expansion was not received with critical support, instead being regarded as average but at least challenging.

Summary: So apparently there were two expansions(other than BW) produced for Starcraft. They were created independently from Blizzard, but still authorized by them. They had campaign/map additions only, no game play changes.

All four of the game CDs.

I randomly came across this while skimming the Starcraft wikipedia page, I am the only one who didn't know about this? I'm seriously surprised. To me this is kind of like finding out that you had two siblings that died before you were born and your parents hid that fact from you.

I guess I was a little young when these came out though, like 8. I still knew enough to go mass mutas though, back when there were no corsairs, valkyries, or medics and turrets were expensive.

Ok, so we know that MMOs can be addicting. Throughout the ages there have been many major ones being MS, Runescape, and ofc WoW. There are 2 guys in my dorm who play MMOs, one plays WoW, the other Runescape.

The WoW player basically never leaves his seat. I've seen him out of his room about 3 times and all of those he was in a big hurry like he had to get back and raid or something lol. I don't think I've heard him speak yet, maybe he said something on Vent, Idk.

Think this is bad, well the Runescape player is infinitely sadder.

He isn't a recluse like the WoW player and I never really suspected him of being a crazy MMO addict until today when I went in and saw him just chopping trees in Runescape. When I was like 'wtf' he just said he had 300,000 chops to get to the next level, apparently he was at 96. Then he said "I have to get to level 99 so I get a special cape to wear and people know I'm a crazy woodcutting pimp." Which is what just killed me.

Even the possibility of Stork winning a title spawned dozens of new threads. What will happen if he actually follows through?

But seriously now, Stork is looking very very hot right now. He stopped the Best bandwagon(of which I was a memeber) right in its tracks, in a very convincing manner. Hell, he even made Best look like a little boy just waiting to be taken to school. Before he lost a game to forGG in the MSL he was on a 12 win streak against terran, including wins against forGG, mind, and Sea. Why does this king of second place suddenly have what it takes?

Stork's execution is often flawless, his units engage the enemy exactly the way that will deal maximum damage. When Stork and BeSt clashed on Plasma, Stork's dragoons were in a far better position and utterly crushed the army of the former PvP god. Can we see a Royal Roader this season? Not if Stork has anything to say about it.

Fantasy's play just hasn't been inspiring enough to make me think he can win. Is the victory of the king of second place now inevitable?
