About 2 months ago I decided that I was gonna exploit the good music scene in Liverpool where I'm at university and bought a load of tickets for shit throughout the year. However being an incompetent I forgot about half of them because I didn't write down the dates anywhere.
On Friday I turned up late to the Arctic Monkeys (indie/rock/britpop) who tbh I don't really like and kind of enjoyed an hour or so of music for $50ish wasted. But I didn't care so much because I had a ticket for Kasabian on the Monday (today). I like Kasabian, not a huge fan but a standing ticket at a decent gig where I like the music is a guarantee of a good night.
Unfortunately when I got back today I decided to play some bw and try and get some points. I opened by losing some games to RaGe and Whistler and this put me on tilt and made me want to keep playing indefinitely. And in all the Starcraft I forgot about the gig until I read someones blog about Within Temptation or something. That reminded me of music which reminded me that about an hour ago the gig I was looking forward to ended. So yeah, another $50 burned there. And I don't have the money to throw it away like this.

Fuck bw. Stupid distracting addiction.

Last night started really shit. My computers couldn't get online, got kicked out the uni computer room at 11pm, decided my sleep pattern was sufficiently fucked to justify going into the main uni library and using the internet there for half the night, just missed the last bus for that, decided I needed pizza to cheer me up but the nearest cash machine was broken when I got there, called a few pizza places to ask if I could pay by card but half said no and the others said I could online.

However, what I did find was a load of old vods on my hard drive and some beers in the back of the fridge. So I settled down and spent 6 hours watching games from 07-08 and doing homework and drinking. Watching SaviOr vs NaDa in the ODT from a year ago was epic. Their game on Blue Storm was really good with some extremely well executed attacks dismantling terran balls.
Equally, watching therock play on P>>>T maps was painful. Seriously, he beat Sea then Midas going 2 base carrier on Katrina and Blue Storm respectively. Both times it was scouted, Sea didn't do too well against it but Midas face stomped him only to have therock allin his carriers going for the command centres while pumping dts in his main. The huge terran army in therocks nat was impotent against dts while the few carriers therock had left hung on killing each goliath as it got produced. Made me ashamed to be protoss. Midas deserves better than that.
Oh and yarnc sucked balls back then. And tbh Sea was pretty bad too, despite it being kinda at his peak.

Also I did a load of Greek homework and then had bacon at 7am.

My love of bw and beer overcame all odds to make last night alright.

I'm trying to translate a concept into a Greek word and I find it's always better to check with a native to make sure your translation doesn't lose it's meaning through lack of context or that there isn't another better word. I wouldn't normally care so much but it's for a tattoo and if I'm going to get something written on me I want to make sure it's right.

So could anyone for whom Greek is a first language pm me. It won't take long.

About 3 days ago the motws were changed and Longinus was brought back. Longinus is ridiculously P favoured and suits my style really well so I figured I'd start a new account and try and get as high as I could. Not to train but purely to stats whore. I didn't dodge anyone, just hosting games and playing whoever joined provided they were my rank or better.

Went 29-0 before losing to some C+ zerg who went 2 base hive rush then double expanded to 4 gases at once while dropping me with annoying little crackling drops. I went reavers too late. Silly thing is he had a losing record. He was just your average C+ guy and he broke my streak. So wp him I guess.
Made it to B- without losing another game, 38-1 (yeah, pure brag :D). I stopped playing PvP at this point because my PvP is significantly worse than the other two mus and while I ought to train it at some point now wasn't the time.
Made it from B- to B in a single session, bashing a few C+s (nobody was joining my games for ages so I widened the rank) but getting owned by one terran and losing a few nice games to some zergs. That got me to 50-4 B rank.

Won my first game today against some B- Zerg to get 51-4 but then lost 0-2 to LRM)ZZZero. That dropped me back down to B-. Not to worry though, he's A- high and I gave him good games.
Then some terran kind of raped me. Accidentally let him scout my build and then he just camped, played safe and then rolled out onto the high ground on longi and sat there. Mass recalls and exp sniping turned it into quite an interesting game as I killed all 4 of his mining expos in a minute but I couldn't stop him tornadoing my main.
Played a 25 minute game against smi.lols which I eventually lost . Was your standard long PvZ game. Chons, reavers, storms etc. Wasn't a bad game although I feel I wasted it. I had a big army and map control but could either kill his morphing hats at the 3rd base site before he got them established or defend my own expansions. While his army couldn't beat mine in a straight fight if I split my forces either half could get owned by his entire army. Keeping my P ball together got my own expansion attempts sniped by cracklings too many times. I asked for a re and then cannon rushed him out of spite, making it 1-1. In our third game I attempted another cannon rush with probe support but he wasn't having any of it this time and dealt with it smoothly. I transitioned into FE and started pumping 2 gate zealots while heading for +1 and speed. Then I caught him off guard with 5 zealots and 2 probes, killing his mineral only because he'd been too busy teching and macroing. I'd overextended and mutas promptly appeared and wiped out my main but my risk had given me a lot of +1 speedlots. Enough to kill his 3rd again, a lot of his drones, his spire, hydralisk den and lair while getting towards chons myself (although I wasted the first 2 on solo attacks against a dozen muta). Eventually I retook my main but was lurk contained. A skirmish that lasted about 10 minutes of non stop action ensued as I attempted to break out with goonstorm against lurkhydrascourge. Was slowly taking ground but my nat was already mined out and my main was close to exhaustion when I finally made it the screens width to my mineral only. He made a desperate attempt to stop me taking it but suceeded only in wasting his army into storms and letting me take my double gas expansion which given I only had 2 depleted geysers saved me. After another 15 minutes of zeegoonchonstorm against ultralurkdra I eventually got the upper hand and won.
That win took me back into B where I promptly lost a game to a Chinese B- zerg for -125 points. He went for 4 hatch hydra and my storm was just too late to save my cannons from being broken. Once the cannons fell the speedlots were vulnerable and died.
I asked for a re and attempted my cannon rush but unfortunately it wasn't to be and instead I was kind of raped.
I asked for another re and went proxy 99 because he'd gone 12 hat 11 pool no scout both games. I maintain stuff like this isn't cheese if you do it because you have a clear read on the opponent. He went 12 11 but sold his nat hat just before it finished and tried to make another hidden one. Realising he'd gotten a drone out I found it and overwhelmed it with mass zealot before destroying his main.
I played him again and somehow managed to misplace my nat nexus so it was far from the mineral line. Deciding to make the best of a shitty situation and scouting to see he was going 4 hat hydra again I quickly made a second gate in my main and two more at the mineral only of the empty base site. I hit him when he had 2 hydras finished and 9 more in eggs. Was nothing he could do. My build countered his perfectly and the proxy had hidden my true zee count from him.
I played him again and again he tried 4 hat hydra. This time I rushed to storm and after losing a few hydralisk he backed off. My attempts to storm/dark drop were very unsuccessful as he had well positioned overlords everywhere but his economy and upgrades were behind mine and a well placed dark was stopping him taking a 4th base. His fast lurk switch was met by fast obs and I pushed out with goonstorm against his hydralurk. He took heavy losses attempting to maintain his contain but as his lurk count declined I unleashed the two control groups of speedlots I'd been making to keep my minerals down but keeping very far away from the lurkers. My army rolled him across the map and then wiped out his 3rd and 4th, taking the game.

So overall I made 96 points on the night, or lost 1 point from my high after the first game of the night. It also completely ruined by sexy record. I knew that I'd eventually get some losses if I wanted to hit A- (my goal for this acc) but even so, it hurts . I got more losses in 10 games tonight than I did in the 55 preceeding them. I'm trying to diversify my builds into other maps but I'm still looking for cool builds on the current motws.

I'm looking for games on Tears of the Moon or Medusa in which a Protoss player does an extremely well put together execution build. I'd rather it wasn't cheese, or a game in which he got lucky. Instead a build which is unconventional but clever and if used correctly against an unsuspecting opponent leaves you ahead.
PvT and PvZ vods are most welcome. I intend to turn the vod into a clear build order and then copy it on icc (those are motw) so if you're interested in the builds I'll happily share the orders once I have them worked out.

This game between Stork and fOrGG in the MSL is a perfect example of what I'm after.



Stork plays a highly aggressive build which leaves fOrGG behind despite reacting correctly. I've perfected this build but the motws have changed.

So, Jared decided he'd play $50 betgames with Strafe. And being a total tard he decided to do that without having $50 or even being able to deposit $50 online. And being even more of a tard I decided to bail him out on pokerstars. When he had a bankroll this would have been fine but Jared is no poker player. I lent a little more here and there too.

It's been pretty awesome so far. I got to Cologne with Artanis and his sister pretty late on the 5th. Called up Shaun (Apollo C&C3 defending world champion) and found out where team UK were staying. Then Artanis and I got a taxi there about 11pm and hung out, had a few drinks, played some really bad poker etc. And I finally made it onto team UK when Shaun gave me his team UK hoodie and player badge. After a lot of drinks people started heading to bed (Jamie claims he is ill) and we got a taxi back.
Yesterday I get woken by a phone call from Shaun asking what he did last night and if I have his badge. So we get up and drive to the event, fortunately making it here a good hour before the games start so he could still get some practice in. The guy doesn't actually play C&C3 anymore though and hasn't in 3 months because in his words "it's a fucking shit game". That led to some pretty funny interviews where C&C3 fans were told how much better bw was than C&C by their champion. <3 Shaun.
I watched the players practice and watched the live games with Zatic. Got to know the rest of team UK better.
About 6pm Artanis wanted to go back to the hotel which was pretty lame because I'm not here for the Starcraft, I'm here to have fun. So I convinced him to come out with the rest of us. We went to an Italian place, had some great food and ToT)Silence( explained particle physics to me (I think?!). Then we went out to a bar and started drinking pretty heavily. Almost all team UK went out on the first day so we just got fucked. About 11:30pm Artanis wanted to get the taxi back to the hotel (he doesn't drink) whereas I was really buzzed and trying to outdrink Shaun so I gave him my taxi fare and asked Jamie if I could sleep on his floor. People started to head home (and Shaun fled after being sick) until it was just Simon (German poker player), Susie, Jamie, Mikey Baby, our WC3 champion and I left with a huge tab. Jamie and I were busto but had been buying our drinks up front all night so Susie had to cover it. Eventually the bar closed and we left (like an hour after it closed).
Back at the hostel we ran into the Ukrainian team (DIMAGA!!!!) and the drinking increased. Mikey Baby kept buying rounds (<3 Mikey) and some Ukrainian Warcraft 3 player was trying to get Susie drunk so kept buying everyone drinks. We eventually got to bed at about 6am completely fucked.

Midian and I got up today at midday and left the hostel at 12:30ish. He said he knew the way but we went the wrong way at the first turn and it took us an hour to get here when it should take 10 minutes. Then he realised he didn't have his ID so we had to go back and get it. So that's been the first 90 minutes of my day. After talking with Dimaga last night it seems there is some controversy over the group. Basically one guy went 3-0, another 2-1, Jamie 2-2 and Dimaga 2-2. Then the 3-0 guy forfeit his last game against the 2-1 because he doesn't care. If he'd won then it'd be a 3 way tie. It's fine to get knocked out by a better player but being knocked out because someone can't be fucked to play is pretty lame and Dimaga was pretty pissed off over it last night. There was talk of breaking faces.
