I've been playing chess alot vs. my vista and i feel like beating down some human nerds.

Anyone know of any online chess servers? Like the Chess equivalent to bnet or iccup.

When it comes to gaming, My friends are douchebags. They play CoD4 on the PS3, and wont shut up about there non-skill related achievements and accidental latency related killing sprees.

One day one of them came up to me and said.
"Omg last night on CoD4 i nailed a 720 No-scope"
me-"Wtf is that?"
"Its where you put your analog stick sensitivity on high, spin around twice and no-scope someone."
"Thats.... neat."
"It was set up but it still looked real cool."
-facepalm.

Thats the worst of the douche-baggery but there were alot of other comments too.

Anyway.

For about a year now i've been trying to get them to buy, or at least try, Starcraft. And most of the time they would say; "Can i get it for ps3?" or "nah, the graphics are shit." So after months of frustration, our science class (which they are a part of) Were set to do a computer-study on glaciers or something.

after about 20 minutes of a 75 minute lesson, and some god-like use of the copy & paste buttons, me and my friend nick(the CoD4 nooby) were awarded with some free time.

I always keep a flash drive in my bag for that situation and that day was no exception. Also i had a No-CD crack of Starcraft on it. I asked nick if he wanted to vs. me over LAN and he agreed. I taught him the basics of terran and promised to play a race that i am terrible at. So we played a PvT on Python, i decided not to cheese, or expand, or use more that one gateway. So after a surprisingly short game (due to the circumstances) i am the victor.

and nick said to me "Where do i buy it?"

Hopefully he will tell his Nooby friends and it will spread like wild fire.

I've asked all my Counterstrike 1.6 buddies if Cs is dead and they say.. its dying.
For years now the 1.6 community has dwindled and dwindled. Then the community was split in two by the release of CS:S and now it is down to a trickle.

Which leads to what this thread is REALLY about: What do i have to satisfy my gaming needs? With 1.6 slowly (and painfully) dying, no playing quake, and no good titles (bar Quake live_ on the horizon. what should i do?

Wait. the answer is right infront of me. TL.net... Starcraft? Is the starcraft community about to suffer a total split down the middle with the release of SC2 or is it going to be a total shift to the new game? Should i bother with SC?

At my school there are a lot of knobs. Also at my school there are alot of musicians. So as a direct result there are alot of musicians that are knobs. So i've come up with a musical knob theory.

With string instruments, if the wrist of that hand in which you pluck the strings is below your belt. You are a knob

So whats that you ask? every double bass/cello player ever is a knob? negative. the theory only applies to people in a rock band. if a double bass or cello is in an orchestra, jazz ensemble, etc, they are not knobs. Example:-




I'm yet to observe the knobbery of other instruments.

Imagine. If Shigeru Miyamoto (Head nintendo guy) Didnt make mario bros. or the Nes. Before the Nes there was a sort of, video game dark ages where atari, arcades and home consoles in general just stopped production. If Miyamoto didnt make mario bros (or legend of zelda or megaman etc etc) , Would gaming be as good as it is today? or exist at all? Would boxer be Gosu at something besides starcraft (probably pimping).

I've been playing the Double bass for i think 3 years now. In a few years i think i'd like to pick up another instrument. I was thinking about which one i would pick, i've narrowed it down to 2 possible choices; Cello or Trombone. Though i am open to other suggestions.

Ever wondered what the blue goo that Goons excrete upon death actually is?

i've come to a series of hypothesises.

1. Cybernetic Coolant
Like a liquid heatsink cooling the cybernetics, or maybe the shooty mechanism.
2. Cybernetics/Robo-blood
Maybe the cybernetics themselves are floating in the blue goo. Similar to nanomachines in metal gear solid.
3. Emissions
Maybe its the exhaust from the machines(in goo form).
4. Fertiliser
The Protoss might be enviromentalists and feel that their dragoons take up lots of minerals and have to give back to Aiur.
5. KoolAid
Who doesn't like KoolAid?

Have you ever sort of felt like you've... outgrown your friends?

Today. Just a lazy early-spring sunday (Australia), so i decide to invite my friends over for a game of Smash bros in the tin shed i happened to "pimp out". They show up rather quickly and im in the middle of a (semi-important) game of Team Fortress 2. They see what im doing and immediately say "When you die its my go!" and screw around with the various shiny objects around my room (Broken computer parts, my bass guitar etc).

Now i know i invited them over and i can't just tell them to fuck off, but still.

Anyways, we go to my pimp den and i plug the Wii in. I happen to have my record player spinning a copy of Pink Floyds "the wall". They start screwing with it, playing with the speed saying "lol i can make him sound like a chimpmunk lolollol". i don't rage at them i just let them proceed. We play some smash (1 game), they get bored and start taking stuff off the walls and messing with my records again.

Do you think i am too picky about my friendships or i should just distance them from me (which i dont want to do because i've known them since Primary school)?

I kind of feel that i have outgrown them because i've started making friends with cooler people. Back in primary school i was not quite as popular(FAT) and i guess they were the kids that didn't care, now i have slimmed down and made some new friends in high school, they seem a bit.. immature. But i know i should cherish my friendships.

Btw. i Really hate immaturity (my mum runs a home day-care so there are little derelict toddlers running around the hallways).
