Terran!

Hi guys. I'm entering the military in my country on 9th January 2009(this Friday). I'm in high anticipation mode as well as a little level of anxiety.

My knee problem has been rectified and its not really serious.. just some tight muscles and positioning of my footing that's causing knee cap irritation.

Just some additional information about this whole thing.

Over here, we call it National Service(NS) for the compulsory conscription of all male Singaporeans and second-generation permanent residents upon reaching the age of 18.

This act was passed on 14 March 1967 as we had a pretty small defence force of around 1000 soldiers. The British army(yes we were under colonial rule) had also decided to withdraw from our country and our government thought that it was important to build up a military force.

With that, I'm going to pack my bag for camp now. WOOO!!

I just read some posts around here about the guy who is really having a tough time in his life right now and he was talking about his close friend dating the girl he was with for 7 years and they almost got married. Whatever made you choose your race? I'm sure we all have our own little story as to how we eventually made up our minds to try a certain race. For some people I know, they liked the idea of protoss units having shields and went with them. Others thought that zerg could mass really fast. So they chose zerg. Why did I exactly play terran?


Before I got broodwar, I was caught up with a video of a battle between Oov and July where July went for some all-in build and Oov BARELY managed to hold it off. The battle came down to every single unit that July threw to Oov. Oov built a firebat, 3 lings shred the firebat. Just as that happened, a marine popped up from the rax and takes down 2 lings.. a few nearby SCVs takes care of the last. July then sent in 6 and Oov had one firebat out by then and it was so back and forth. I remember the pivotal point that caused both players into tech is when Oov somehow managed to squeeze a medic out, forcing July back and making them both start their tech.(Haven't really watched the game ever since so I'm not exactly sure of the sequence of events.)

It amazed me because I had never seen a Starcraft game being played this way. I played Broodwar since I was 9 years old but I've never seen the game this wya. It was basically my first pro-game that I watched. A terran vs a zerg. I was never a fan of zerg simply because back then, I just hated the bad guys due to the campaign in broodwar.

I also liked the background music of terran. It reminded me alot about SCVs mining minerals. It wanted to make me play Terran so bad. I remember the day when I was out with my family and I went to a shop to go get a copy of Starcraft battle chest set. It was really cheap. I think around S$30 or so. This kid nearby stood and stared at me for a while.. probably wondering "WHY IN THE WORLD ARE YOU BUYING A 1998 GAME WHEN YOU'VE GOT NEWER ONESZZZZ?? NOOBZOR". Maybe he didn't have that thought in his head but he sure gave me that kind of look. But I must say.. almost 6 years of gaming life, nothing has ever come close to Starcraft. Runescape comes closest(still pretty far away.) The diversity about how each game is different and the desire inside that makes you want to improve further keeps making you play. And I've found Starcraft to be the most effective game I've played because my reflexes increased tremendously. My accuracy also improved alot. I used to always miss catching stuff that people throw at me but now, they actually miss the stuff that I catch.

So this was basically why I play Terran.

But it didn't stop there.

I think Terran is a race that requires alot of mechanics. I still remember back in the days when I was in GG.net, many guys who knew that I was new to starcraft told me to play protoss first since it was easier for lower leveled players. I agree with that but I still stuck with Terran.

Eventually, I started playing on Bnet. Initially, I had a phobia of the fog of war.. not knowing what your opponent was doing. There was always this known fear at the back of your head that revolves back and forth into your conscience that your opponent will do some devastating attack on you.

I remember my first game, it was vs zerg. I had built up around 10 marines and the zerg had around 12 mutalisks. Completely owned. I played for 3 weeks straight with all losses. It was really frustrating.

But then came another figure. BoxeR. I think in every SC player, BoxeR has a place. Whether you play Protoss, Zerg or Terran, every SC player has a tinge of BoxeR in them. Its the nature that wants them to do creative strategies. Its the nature that pushes them on to fight till the last worker. Its also the nature that forces us back into contemplation about our poor performance and to gather yourself back again to come back as a stronger figure.

That's really why I stuck at playing Terran.

When I first watched BoxeR's perfectly executed SCV rush vs Yellow, I was AMAZED. I thought to myself "Who would ever think of such a strategy?". I was so amazed, I decided to try it on my own. I logged on to Bnet, made a game "LT NOOBS". A zerg player joined and I began thinking about how I would go about doing it.

Coincidentally, I actually went 8 rax on time. I scouted him first on 5 and his natural hatch was already up. I set up a bunker and I brought my marines in. He brought a bunch of drones to try and deflect the rush but my bunker was finished and 3 marines were already inside. He retreated and I advanced onto his hatchery. Eventually, he lost all his workers and lings and gave in. It was my first victory ever on Bnet.

I'm proud as a Terran player to know of all the past greats and current greats who have devised creative strategies with Terran, which is the race that is seemingly most inflexible amongst the other races. It brings me delight to know that I also wield the power of terran but power without control is nothing.

I suck at Terran but I still love it.

So its Christmas Eve. I went to meet my family at some sushi hangout for dinner today after meeting a friend who had just booked out from his military camp.

We ordered food and we had a nice talk as a family.

I arrived around 10 minutes after my parents did arrive at the place so they ate first and they waited for me. I got the menu when I arrived and I ordered food HOKKAIDO CHIRASHI DON.

Okay so I had to wait around 20 minutes and my food still didn't arrive. I asked the waiter to check and he said that the food would take some time to come.. so I was like okay fine.

Then we waited for another 10-15 minutes or so and the food still didn't arrive. I asked another waiter and the manager came saying that oh.. they actually missed my order.

I got kinda pissed off. Okay not kinda. I was infuriated I almost went BM. I mean first you tell me that it would take some time and THEN YOU FUCKING COME TELL ME THAT MY ORDER HAD BEEN MISSED. WTF IS THE POINT IN CHECKING MY ORDER WHEN YOU TELL ME IN THE END AFTER CHECKING ONCE THAT THEY HAD MISSED MY ORDER. Its like waiting all that and they come tell you. So I cancelled the order, paid the bill and left.

Is getting angry wrong? Its the festive season but man FUCK SUSHI TEI. I don't think I'll go back because of the FUCKING ignorant people there. Bullshit.

Hi guys. Don't mean to be over-posting again but today something quite percular happened. I really find it so.. its really so ee han and so funny and odd. It happened so nicely that it was really something.

Anyway this is not about saying that I've got feelings for here again or whatever but man I still can't believe this.

I went about my usual schedule on a Saturday where I'd leave home in the afternoon to proceed for guitar lessons at a mall in a Yamaha studio.

Basically, my class venue was located at the 6th floor and it faces a huge glass window about the size of a wall. The Windows are usually and always covered by the curtains because it can get quite warm. It was somehow opened today.

My guitar teacher came in and we did our pieces and stuff. There was some event going on downstairs that caught my eye. This mascot for blood donation. I was really distracted in class with the things going on downstairs.

I saw some people walking around with themselves holding some sort of trays and are constantly approaching people.

Then something caught my eye. This girl that had a figure that looked just like that girl I mentioned earlier. I haven't seen her in quite a while and I never expected to see her again through the window of the 6th storey.

I confirmed it was her after some scrutiny.

Doesn't mean anything but well, it brought back memories of the past where I was so obsessed with her. But now its like she's just another girl you'd meet along the street. Great to have moved on.

Hi pals. I'm not sure if this is really an injury or whatever but I've recently been having some knee problems.

The problem has been around for a month or so now but today it just took a different phase.

I ran last night and toward the end of my run, I felt my knee having some knocking sensation there. Its like 2 bones are rubbing against each other.

Then I wake up today and each step I take up the stairs, I feel the same feeling as I did when I ran.

I've actually been training hard for my national service in the military in about a months time but this thing has really ben hindering my progress.

Does anyone know how I can help the problem? I was thinking of going to the doctor around next week or so.

My family decided to pack up and repaint the house so we did loads of cleaning up and I found a bunch of photos and one of them was me sitting on a dog when I was only 2!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I've still got one month to go before I head off to the military. I've scheduled my mornings for swimming which I've made a ton of progress on. I've gotten rid of the floating board that I use to practice my kicks now I can swim officially yay!

After I return home, I start cooking lunch and after that, I get so bored!

I was looking for some MMORPGs to play. To date, I've tried Runescape, Shattered Galaxy(kinda mmo), Maplestory, WoW, Warhammer Online, Guild Wars and FlyFF.

I had intentions to play this month away but I don't know any good games out there. Recommendations?

I sit here in the middle of the night 2:12 AM being kept awake by many different things that lurk in my thoughts.

ICCUP has been okay. Starcraft has been bad. I crack at the smallest things and yes I know that very well. I lost to a few D- players already.

Anyway, I feel as if I've just reached a point where I'm about to call it quits. Not SC but on the fact that I wait for the right one. There's an inner desire but sometimes desire is just desire. Its nothing.

Love is love. Its something to enjoy but I believe that love isn't fit for everyone. Not me at least. For some, love comes easy and for some, they fight so much just to get a tinge. Why wait so fucking much for the damn cake you can't fucking eat.

I recall back to the incident about Tika where he blogged about his own love life. I recall Misrah's beautiful encounters with two wonderful women. But I guess things end somehow. I agree with Misrah. Whoever said that its better to love and lose than to have never loved at all is a fucking retard. Seriously. Sometimes I wished I never loved at all.

Its one thing to love and lose with the knowledge that you've got better love in store for you but its another thing where you know that this love will be your last.

From Tika's incident, I gather that most of you understand how fucked up it gets sometimes. Its shit to find that you're almost always or always more than ever alone in all that.

All that's happened really just proves a point that I'm not a creator. I can't create love out of nothing.

And I can't admit that I haven't ran away. I've probably ran long enough for a marathon now. But its so screwed I can't even think about anything better.
