hi, just got back from a visit from the opto, id like to share some of my results and the information he gave me
after the intense examination thing (my eyes are still watery from those damn lights), he said to me that my left eye is normal and my right eye is -1.0 (i dunno how good/bad this is but from what hes said its not as bad as it could be.)
right now he told me not to bother with any sort of aid yet, come back in 6months and see if things have progressed and then, if they have, i might need to get a contact for my right eye.
i asked him alot of questions about lasik and laser surgery, suprisingly he said its a viable option. he told me of 2 quality places in my area that charge about 3000 bucks per eye (more than i expected, but still, not a bad price). he told me that the chance of severe problems is about the same as winning the lottery and no more probable than any other surgery. the worst ill get is dry eyes if they get irritated by the air con or whatever but really almost 0 chance of getting serious complications
the opto said that the technology for it has progressed alot in 2008/09 compared to 5 years ago, and the only problem is the cost (which isnt that much compared to contacts and practicality) and that since lasik is only 20years old they have no idea about the long term (50years sideaffects). but other than that, as long as im 18 im allowed to undergo it (but its a good idea to wait until my eye has stopped changing first.)
he didnt really give me a definite answer as to how long the lasik treatment lasted, but he said its pretty much long lasting barring any mishaps like overccorrection (which can be fixed anyway).
right now i dont think ill bother even with a contact until a 6month check up, i dont think my eyes will deteriorate that much more and he said i could live pretty easy without aid like this, so i think getting surgery isnt really a priority in the present, but of course its nice to know its definately an option, should i decide to go for it.
i forgot to ask him if having a minus diop thingy closer to 0 is better than a -5 or whatever in terms of a successful and perfect surgery, but my guess is yes it does.
i guess right now i can stop worrying and shitting myself about going blind, i was so fucking nervous in the opto's chair but he was a nice guy and i think he gave it to me frank so im happier than i was this morning.
recently ive noticed in the last month or so that my vision in my right eye is blurry at a distance so i went to the doc to get it checked out. he checked my right eye and said it was near-sightedness (i think it was 20/70), whereas my left eye is pretty strong (i think it was 20/15)
im pretty sad, i thought it was eye strain and i dont really want to wear glasses and contacts, so im thinking about possible lasik or related surgery in the future.
ive read the other 2 threads and they were pretty informative, but i dont know what the -3.5 business means. i think my right eye is 20/70, whats that in relation to the other way of scaling?
also, ive never had any vision problems in the past so i dont know really what my options are. ive been to the doc but not the optomotrist (he did some weird paper hole test and i could see fine through the holes with my impaired eye, so he said its near-sightedness). since my left eye is great and he said its not going to get short sighted, should i bother with getting glasses/contacts, and just wait until im eligible for surgery?
will using contacts disqualify me possibly for later lasik treatment? the doc said that no two eyes are the same but one of my eyes is pretty bad and the other one is really strong, is this normal?
since im 20/70 will lasik do anything? i dont expect to have perfect 20/20 vision, maybe 20/30?
i dont care if i have sore eyes or bleeding or dry eyes from the lasik surgery even if its for the rest of my life, i can deal with that and id much rather have that than be short sighted or dependant on lenses.
anyways, im going to the optometrist tomorrow to get analysed, can anyone share their knowledge with my since im a bit of a noob? itd make me feel a little better i guess, im a bit down right now
i was in a game called plzbrg infinity today, when all of a sudden, bang 1700 sojs sold to merchs. it was a pubbie game, so two fags came in and spawned in arcane, and i got about 3 or 4 clan members in here to try and kill. ended up with game dropping after we pked the two fags and the smiter/hdin guys almost killed, but got dropped and game disappeared. oh well
if only this had happened 2 days ago in a priv game because i had just sold off all my frenzy barb gear and he would have been able to kill him in a few minutes and taken the anni. oh well
so, ive decided to start playing d2 again with my cousin since ive got a few months of absolutely nothing to waste
my cousin has decided to play a hammerdin because they are possibly the most badass class ever invented, and ive picked out a necro summoner because im lazy and i like the idea of having a bunch of friends to protect me and take punches for me lol . i know summonmancers can solo hell bare-assed but i like feeling good and 'uber', and my cousin found a decent torch so im gonna start out on a necromancer.
i havent played d2 in a while, not since the new patch, does anyone have any advice for me? in particular, what to mf/where to mf? should i try to sell key sets? im a poor man so any decent gear suggestions for me until i work up enough for the rich man;s stuff? im hoping to scratch up enough for a low enigma, and then just mf all the usual spots.
anyone have any suggestions / past experiences they want to share? oh, i play ladder/softcore on USWest (yes i know im a pussy, thats why im a summoner ) with the account name TribalTech, so if anyone wants to add me and game with me some time id appreciate it alot since its only me and the fams playin so far
im thinking of buying new guitar soon, most probably a classical (or an acoustic electric if its a fantastic deal), so i can play some acoustic stuff as well as some flamenco. i have no experience in buying classical or spanish guitars (only acoustic/electrics) and am a bit hesitant to purchase one.
my current acoustic is a takamine and i really love their tone, although ive heard that cf martin make great guitars also - but any brand will realistically be fine if its quality.
i was wondering, does anyone have any opinions or advice for me in selecting a brand/model? any stories to share regarding price, durability, sound etc? any dramas?
some details:
price: no more than 1000 (aus d) scale: doesnt really matter inlays: with or without frets: preferably rosewood but anything is fine
i will almost exclusively be playing fingerstyle, maybe strumming some chords and such with a pick but nothing more
