Intro

This was my first live event. Parking was fine (considering it's San Francisco). And me and my brother arrived just as Ret vs. Seed was about to begin. The hall itself was a little on the small side, but it was packed. It's hard to judge exactly how many people were there. You can judge that for yourself from the vids. My guess would be 1000-2000.

This is the continuing story of Two-Face, a stray cat we began feeding when we saw her starving outside our front door. She would return time after time and eventually, she discovered the doggy door in the back door of our house. To this day she doesn't let us pet her, but she also doesn't jump on tables or make any kind of mess. She knows how to meow in the hallway when she's ready to eat and ...

Designing Starcraft 2:
The Alliance, Hybrids, and Xel'Naga

I couldn't have been the only kid out there who looked through their Starcraft Prima Strategy Guide and day dreamed about designing Starcraft 2. After Warcraft III came out, I was convinced that 3 races was the perfect number of races. Blizzard wouldn't add a 4th or 5th race. And I was also convinced that Blizzard wouldn't rehash...

Season 3 has begun and the musical chairs for the ladder maps has hit. Out are fan favorites like Megaton and in are two new maps. The first is Fossil Quarry:

I haven't played on Fossil Quarry yet, but it reminds me a lot of District 10. The second map, Deadlock Ridge, on the other h...

I blame this episode on Day9.

So I was reading this thread and I watched the first Day9 video listed. In that Daily titled, "Steal this build ZvP," Day9 goes through a Morrow replay where Morrow basically goes Spanishiwa style against a toss. Nothing but Queens and drones (and lings? and sp...

Episode 4: The Secret to Silver League 4v4?

Table of Contents

As I stated in Episode 3, I said I was trying to mix in Infestors into my (Silver League) play. Up until recently, my army has pretty much has been limited to 1 or 2 hot keys, depending if I were using Mutas or not. And as long as the game has gone longer than the early game shenanigans, I think ...

Today was a bad day for the Swarm. I think I lost 4 or 5 in a row before this game and this one was one of my only wins. My opponent's team was a mix of random and Protoss and all the randoms also rolled Protoss. Needless to say, they all decided to go mass Void Ray early on:

So, a half day of SC2 today and I started off with yesterday's muta rush that used to work so well. I won my first two games pretty handily, but then lost the next three. One of those loses went a little like this:

With another zerg in a shared base, he decides to make a macro hatch and we wall off ...

This is my first blog entry, so a little about myself:

I'm 28 years old and the original Starcraft was one of my favorite PC games (up there with X-wing and Ultima Online). I've never been a competitive player and I'm never going to be. I've never had any interest in going pro in the past and I don't have any ...
