yoyoyo! i have a midterm tomorrow and i have some problems that i don't have the solutions to!
if you're bored, you can check my work, or if you just love probabilities that much, you can try to do them yourself without checking the solns! :}
[all my XC0 will be for clarity :d]
P9. 10 rooms in a ring. Each of the 3 Little Pigs checks into a different room. Let X = # of adjacent pairs. Find P(X>=1). + Show Spoiler [My Solution] +
P(X>=1) = 1-P(X=0) P(X=0) = 15/10C3 P(X>=1) = 105/120
P10. Draw 10 cards from standard deck. Find: a) P(getting exactly 1 suit) b) P(getting exactly 2 suits) + Show Spoiler [My Solution] + 10a. 4C1*13C10*39C0 / 52C10 10b. 4C2*[13C1*13C9+13C2*13C8+...+13C9*13C1]*26C0 / 52C10
P14. Return 4 hats randomly back to 4 people (n=4). Let X=# matches. Find: a. P(X=4) b. P(X=3) c. P(X>=1) d. P(X=-) + Show Spoiler [My Solution] + a. 1/4P4 = 1/24 b. if you have 3 matching, you must also have 4 matching, so same as (a)? is there overlap? c. 1-(6/24) d. 6/24

advance wars oozium -- 103 kb -- downloadjust like the nintendo game, you try to destroy the other teams' HQs. take control of cities to gain more gold per time. you choose a special ability in the beginning which you can use whenever your bar fills up. use the mountains for superior positioning and utilize the proper counters. it should be very similar to the original game. early version by me, my friend Siegemech took over and vastly improved on it. hopefully my name isn't credited given how little it resembles my original map haha. hopefully, some of you guys can have fun with this. you'll need a few people to play though (the more the better). gl hf!

Epik High - Vol 5. Pieces, Part One Genre: Hip-hop, rap, K-pop Released: April 17, 2008
If you've never gotten into Korean music, now is a good time to start; Epik High's latest album is one of the best I've listened to recently. I highly recommend the following songs: 15 우산 ft. 윤하, 16 당신의 조각들 ft. 지선, and 05 연필깎이 ft. Kebee (marked with double daggers). Don't overlook the others though! A lot of people label 'One' as their favorite track, but imo it's a bit cheesy with all the t-t-t-ticking ;D. The "missing" tracks are just intros to the next tracks. Other songs I recommend from their previous albums include Love Love Love, Fan, Fly, Paris.

Nujabes: Hydeout Productions 2nd Collection Genre: Hip-hop/Jazz Released: November 11, 2007
Nujabes: 2nd Collection is highly, highly recommended. Fusing jazz and hip-hop, Jun Seba (nuJ abeS) creates chill and soothing instrumental music, perfect for working or just plain relaxing. However, it's not uncommon for Nujabes to feature rappers, producing some of my favorite songs (e.g. Lady Brown, the Luv (sic.) series, Feather). Some of you might be familiar with his work in Samurai Champloo (e.g. Aruarian Dance). If you enjoy this album, you should definitely try out his previous albums, which, imo, are much, much better. However, that shouldn't stop you from listening to this album. :D

hi TL~!
I began my first Liquibet two or three seasons ago & almost won first place if not for a critical vote I got wrong at the end (or the few small liquibets I accidentally missed ;x hehe). I was like "fuck it -_-" and skipped the next season. But at the moment, I'm second place!! I'd be first if the PST to Korea time switch didn't fux me over -_- I wanted to think over the Hwasin vs. Savior before the deadline, but I'm sure I would've voted Hwasin~ grrr @ empty vote. hehe. Anyway! I just wanted to share a few tips on the patterns I've gathered over the past year or so ^^ the irony is that I'll probably start losing my rank after writing this ^^; but i digress~
There is a huge emphasis on predicting upsets in the Liquibet. CruiseR won last season's Liquibet with 64.35% accuracy. Sixty-four percent. For every two matches he predicted correctly, he missed one. And he won. In general terms, those are pretty shitty odds.
So how the fuck do you hit upsets?
General Ideas
- Risky Behavior -- You can't be afraid to take the risk for an upset. It's always possible for a potential landslide rape to become an upset. Remember, sixty-fucking-four percent for first place last season. Plus, it's such a good feeling hitting upsets that everyone misses, but that shouldn't undermine a player's dominance in a particular Starleague.
- Ranking -- Being 1st is relative to the decisions of everyone else. If everyone had a one percent chance of correcting guessing the winner and you, five, you'd still be first place by the end of the season despite your shitty guess rate. By blindly following what everyone else is choosing, you're not going to end up at any significant ranking, just like everyone else. Recognize that most people don't take risks and end up nowhere, and recognize when an upset can definitely happen and few people will go for it. Conversely, don't go for the underdog for a majority of the games.
- Popular Belief -- Just don't listen. When the average TLer starts hitting at least 75% in accuracy, start listening -_-;
- Bias -- Even though it's obvious, think with your head, not your heart. That means removing all bias you've accumulated over the past years, i.e. players lose their edge. People always "vote with their hearts" (which is essentially just wistful thinking) and then complain about their ranking or the players later on. Don't do that shit.
- Chance -- Most of the TL population playing the liquibet would fare better by flipping a coin, which is kinda sad -_- For fun, make a secondary TL account and vote for the opposite player from your main account. There's a pretty good chance it'll do better than your main account.
- Research -- Even though it seems that luck dictates much of Liquibet, there's a reason why the top rankers consistently rank high season after season. You have to hit those upsets. Hopefully, every choice you make will be more thoroughly thought out than hastily chosen.
The Process- Which of the Players is more dominating/streaking currently?
- Is any Player overrated? underrated? in the specific match-up?
- Read the user comments.
- Look for high rankers' explanations for their decisions.
- Who does the general TL population think will win? (Why are they wrong?)
- Weigh the Players' styles & experience.
- Ponder all these ideas until you have a decision.
- Has the Player been practicing this MU or ignoring it for another MU?
Additional Info- Mirror Match-ups -- There are tons of upsets in MM's. Go for the underdog unless the favorite is just too dominating, and even then be wary.
- Unknown vs. Unknown -- These are retarded so I pick the lesser known (because most people pick the one they recognize), or I choose T>Z, Z>P, P>T (or whatever the current match-up stats dictate).

+ Show Spoiler [is boring] + i'm sick of playing DotA with friends and friends of friends i know IRL. they all do the same annoying shit over and over. half their shit wouldn't be so annoying if they didn't fucking blow so much and have such a faggot attitude when you talk to them about it. here's a list of shit that pisses me off. hopefully this will ease my tension. note that this isn't high level DotA.
1. towers : you're in a rush to push a lane asap and they're fucking jacking around waiting to get the last hit. how about you fucking help attack the tower so we can fucking win? and when they do get the last hit, it goes to their shitty S&Y at 60 minutes into the game. or they lose the extra gold as they die in the next 2 minutes.
2. 2vs1 : you're on low health alongside a partner. an enemy's running toward you and obviously trying to kill you. your partner has the dps to take him down as you kite him, but wait, what the fuck? your partner's RUNNING WITH YOU? you verbally abuse his ass when you die and, what the fuck does he say? "i didn't want to die," or my favorite, "QQ more." repeat this scenario 1000x/game
3. QQ : why do only fags say this? it doesn't even fucking look like a crying face.
4. neutral creeping : why are they so fucking intent to neutral creep when we can win by fucking pushing or lose by not defending? oh shit you killed the +9 gold creep. only 377 more taskmasters for your eaglehorn.
5. TPs : why don't they buy fucking TPs? honestly, sometimes it's your style, but i've avoided hundreds of deaths just by running into a dark hole (or not even) and TPing out, even if i had BoTs.
6. sniper/drow : why are these noobs SO IN LOVE with these heroes? they fucking love walking out in the open, past the river, alone, with no TPs or any means of escape. then they scream for backup when they get ganked and you know they're just going to keep doing that shit over and over. then they call you noob.
7. advice : WHY WON'T THEY LISTEN? if it doesn't work, i don't know, IT WON'T WORK AGAIN DOING IT THE EXACT SAME WAY? i remember telling a BH to use track whenever ganking a weaver and he wouldn't fucking track her. and he continued to try and gank her without track throughout the entire fucking game. is it illiteracy? stupidity? arrogance? pride? fuck.
8. solo : why do noobs ask for solo? even with heroes with incredible lane control, they utterly fucking fail every time. wrong skills and priorities, even with constant instruction.
it's such a frustrating game, and when you're losing, it's just a shitty feeling after spending so much time to only lose because your teammates keep doing the same fucking shit over and over again with their arrogance to block whatever learning experience there is. i should've stuck to SC.
does anyone have any particular gripes when it comes to DotA? -_- or even 2vs2's in SC. sigh :{
