I'm getting tired of useless arguments about religion and God. I can't disprove your God just like I can't disprove a flying spaghetti monster, or an invisible pink unicorn. If you make a claim, it's up to you to prove it, not me to disprove it. Does that make sense?
Also, what's with everyone thinking their religion is the best and all the others are blasphemes? You only have your specific religion because you were born and raised with it. You could have been born in the middle east and think that Allah is the shit, instead of the Christian God (and vise versa).
And finally, I don't have a problem with people being religious, I'm tired of people saying that to me. I'll tolerate your beliefs just like anyone else, because I believe everyone has the right to what they think. The keyword is tolerate though. Don't ask me to respect it, because I can't. But I'll tolerate it, no problem.
I remember on some replays randomly pressing the numbers and actually being shown the player's control groups! It was really cool but for some reason it isn't happening anymore. I have no idea how it happened the first time either. And I couldn't choose which player's hotkeys I was checking out.
Can anyone help me with this? I'd love to be able to see the hotkeys of the pro players playing the replays I watch. It makes me get a much better feel for how they operate, and it's just fun.
Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question. Also I suck at searching.
Well I finally got some of my friends into SC. Not super competitively or anything, but they'll play real maps and not UMS or BGH.
Anyways I'm gonna do some 1v2's with them. I'm a Zerg player, and they are Terran and Protoss. They're slightly better than b.net noobs, with a knowledge of basic builds and decent multi-tasking. But my APM is twice theirs so they thought this would be fair, even with me insisting that APM isn't that important lol.
Oh well, either way I'll be playing some ZvTP and I was wondering on what tips/strategies/words of wisdom TL might have for me. The map we're playing for sure is Colosseum, but please recommend me any maps that could help the lone Zerg versus 2 players =)
tl;dr - I'm gonna do a 1v2 as Z vs. P and T, help!
I've been watching professional Starcraft for roughly a year now, and I've been loving it. But I've never really been a fan of that many players, mainly because outside of the game they all seem the same. Practice 8 hours a day, sleep, repeat. I've read as many interviews as I can and the pros all seem really... I'm not sure how to describe it, but they don't say that much significant stuff, while still being really polite. It's alright I guess, but I've always wanted more.
I think there's about 4 players I find interesting disregarding their gameplay:
-Firebathero. Yeah those ceremonies are very lame and all, but he does it to entertain the fans, and I appreciate the effort. Sometimes they're so bad they actually are funny.
-go.go. This guy is a straight up asshole sometimes, but hey it's fun to watch. Can't have all nice without some bad to make it interesting, ya know?
-Boxer. Short, cute interviews aren't exactly my thing, but wow this guy has an autobiography! Now that's interesting. Oh and let's not forget that he's Boxer, who really helped make e-sports what they are today.
-NaDa. From what I understand, he's gone through a lot of emotional distress and slumps, and has managed to overcome them. Now that shows some good fighting spirit, it's no wonder he's the most prolific Starcraft player ever.
Something else I wanted to mention is that I've never been a fan of any particular team - except the night that I liquid bet them. The corporate named teams just don't do it for me, they don't really represent that much imo. So I guess I'm left to marginally liking the teams with my favorite players a bit more than the rest.
So tell me why you guys are fans of certain pros that you follow. Oh and teams as well.
-People against abortion. Isn't it ironic how most of the people against abortion are people who are never gonna have to worry about it anyways?
-Instant messaging. Holy fuck talk about meaningless communication. Sometimes I'd rather just e-mail people instead of getting two line responses ending in "lol". I'm usually against formal things like letter writing, but it sure beats the hell out of its polar opposite.
-Anime. I don't mind the artistic intentions of the authors, but really what bugs me about anime is that it creates a shitty sub-culture of obsessive nerds. I've never seen any form of media/entertainment create such a socially-hopeless fan base.
-Internet gaming "communities". Kind of ironic because technically I'm apart of one. But let's be honest, a lot of people try to make up for their failures in the real world by seeking acceptance on the internet. I'm talking about the 14-year-old "badass" on a video game forum who trash talks and uses mainly profanity to communicate. These people are "why we can't have nice things". I would just like to note though that TL is so awesome compared to the console gaming "communities" I've come from.
-Internet "memes" not used on the internet. Alright I'll admit a few are good (Bel-Air comes to mind) but memes are basically inside jokes from the internet. Exposing others to inside jokes is lame enough, but if some fucker starts spamming "over 9000" to me in real life I'll be left with no option but to cap his ass.
-Fox News. OK I'm going to have to admit that every news media is biased in some way or another, but with these guys it's so blatantly obvious it's pathetic. And how do Americans not realize this? Why do so many people watch Fox News? When I look at American society I'm often left in awe.
-Rap Music. Sorry, but it's dead to me now. It pretty much died along with Tupac, and then some guy called Soulja Boy came along and took a big huge dump on its grave.
-Bandwagoning. I don't even know if this is a word, but I hate people who ignorantly follow whatever is popular at the moment, and then just jump on the next big thing. What happened to being a faithful fan of anything? Flash is cool, but my Terran hero is still NaDa. Also, these same group of people seem to jump to conclusions so fucking fast it's ridiculous. For example, people that claimed Flash was slumping after going 2-2 in proleague during some week(s). Listen idiots, in a sport where the best players have winning statistics around the 60-65% mark, going 50/50 some week after a long winning streak means very little.
-Elitism. For example on the internet, people who don't take your opinion seriously until you have X amount of posts, or have been doing something for Y amount of years. These people are usually very closed-minded as well. Elitism really doesn't serve anyone any good but the people trying to stay in their little social bubbles telling their lame little inside jokes until the end of time.
-Logic. Sometimes it makes me doubt God. Wait, maybe this was supposed to be the other way around...
I listened to this. I cringed. In fact, I died a little inside. What has rap come to?
So my question to you is this: does Soulja Boy count as music?
Poll: Soulja Boy = Music? (Vote): Yes, music is just a collection of sounds. (Vote): Absolutely no fucking way. (Vote): I think Soulja Boy is a pretty cool guy. eh ruins rap music and doesn't afraid of anything.
I don't think these questions are important enough to be in the strategy forum. Just wondering if some more experienced Z players could give a few short answers on the following:
1) Hotkeys: is 1-5 for units and 6,7,8,9,0 for hatcheries a good idea? So far it works fine for me but I don't know what to do when, for example, I get 12 lurks and like 60 lings and 8 ultras or something crazy like that.
2) How does 9-pool speed/overpool/12pool fare against 2-gate builds from P? What about proxy gates? Oh and about 12 pool, how is it for ZvT? I almost always 12-hatch, just looking to expand my repertoire with stuff that I would be comfortable with.
3) Against P: how good of a combo (lategame) is ultra-hydra? My ultras always get pwned by archons but I love using hydras against them. And I heard from somewhere that it's a good combo, I don't really know.
4) ZvZ: is it really a build-order triangle? I never see 9-pool builds beating 12-pools for example (I think this happened recently in Jaedong vs. Oversky?). And, can 12-hatch ever defend 9-pool?
Alright that's about it, thank you very much anyone who takes the time to answer and enrich my Zerg experience.
