It's no secret, there isn't a team out there that doesn't want Jaedong on their team. Jaedong has the best practice mentality out of any gamer and apparently is a pleasure to coach. He is bound for greatness in many ways. Indeed, the team who snaps him up will have a huge shot at winning the proleague - as shown by Hwaseung. KeSPA's bullshit rules mean that Jaedong ultimately isn't going to get to make a decision on where he ends up, just that he will go to the highest bidder - so where exactly will he end up? Well here's my take on the matter.
SKT T1 [image blocked]
SKT would be foolish if they did not put a bid in on Jaedong - after all SKT has searched for a long time trying to get a competent Zerg for their lineup. Their player "snatching" started a long time ago, and many Zergs have been snapped up in hopes of making SKT truly invincible. Zergs such as GoRush and July have passed through the SKT halls only to wind up slumping like crazy (and so the SKT Zerg curse continues).
Jaedong, however, has a legitimate chance of breaking this curse and simply dominating everything. SKT already has the best Protoss and best Terran in their lineup - adding Jaedong would make them truly invincible (at least for the time being). They would be almost like the KTF Superstar team consisting of Reach, Yellow, Nada, Nal_ra etcetc. BUT, even though KTF was a super team - they never won a Proleague title, so maybe (just maybe) it wouldn't translate into a title for SKT either... unlikely, but hey
SKT has a shitload of cash compared to other teams especially since they just won the Proleague. But really, they are already shelling out the big money for Bisu, Fantasy, Boxer and Oov to stay in the team. I'm sure their other players are on fairly good contracts as well. The question is does SKT have enough cash left over to purchase Jaedong? Or rather, will they have enough money to out bid the other teams. I can see SKT posting around 140 000 000 won for Jaedong, what Hwaeseung is currently offering - anymore and I think they will be paying more money to their players than they would make by winning the Proleague.
So while it is in SKT's best interest to purchase him, somehow I don't see it happening...
KTFail
Will KT put in a bid for Jaedong? Interesting question. It's no secret that KT have an enormous checkbook while they have not hesitated to flaunt round in the past. Of the "major" teams I think KT is most likely to snap up Jaedong. And here's why. They know that Flash is a kid wonder and will do great things. However, the rest of their team is so bad that they just missed out on the playoffs this season. With another awesome player on the lineup they can pretty much do what Oz did when they had Anytime and Jaedong - simply play Jaedong/Flash and then either Jaedong/Flash for ace. Scary combination really
So KT have the money, have the need, and they have a good environment. fOrGG already moved from Oz, so Jaedong wouldn't be completely isolated once he moved. While KT has a number of budding zergs like 815, Firefist and Hoejja, ultimately if they want results now (like they've always done) they will want to purchase a DEPENDABLE good zerg (not luxury lolol) and they can find that in Jaedong.
So imo, Jaedong will be headed to KT since they have the most spare cash and a great need for him.
CJ Entus
There's been a lot of talk about Jaedong moving to CJ, and why not. CJ is a great team. But I don't think they are very interested in purchasing Jaedong - well, let me rephrase, of all teams I don't think they the most interested in Jaedong and hence will only put in a mediocre bid.
Here is why. EffOrt is proving to be an amazing Zerg and is juts oozing potential. Kwanro is performing well in leagues, and could potentially come away with a title soon. Savior is still the Zerg god (and has a hefty contract to boot) and the vast majority of their lineup consists of Zergs. There is no need for another Zerg - since if they bought Jaedong it would make half their goddam roster redundant. CJ need a solid Protoss to make up for Much's departure or another Terran to give them some more depth. Jaedong doesn't play Protoss or Terran, thus, CJ probably isn't going to acquire him.
Samsung Khan
Rule of thumb; Khan never trades players away. Khan is like a family, and they stick together through thick and thin. Honestly, Khan has a very depressing Zerg lineup. Yes, great performed well last season, but really, do you trust him enough for him to carry the team? I thought not. Stork/Jangbi/Firebathero are a good trio and I really don't see January going out to purchase Jaedong for the team. I don't think Jaedong's ridiculous practice routine meshes well with Khan's relatively relaxed approach to practice.
Will Khan offer up a bid? Probably. Jaedong is too big of an asset to let slip by. But in reality - when they already have a couple stars on their team - they aren't going to be offering up much to purchase him and will lose the bidding war.
eSTRO
eSTRO is the best team Jaedong could possibly go to. A little known fact is that Jaedong and UpMagic are really close friends couple this with eSTRO's continual fail despite lots of budding potential and you have a team perfect for Jaedong. Jaedong would be an excellent choice for eSTRO since their best players are Terrans and Protoss - while Hyvaa is the only decent zerg. Jaedong/Hyvaa as a combo would be amazing since Hyvaa could learn so much from him and develop into an amazing player himself.
Jaedong's friendship with UpMagic, and the generally friendly atmosphere at eSTRO, seems like the perfect environment for him to be in. Sure he'd still be carrying the team, but it's not like Oz where he was literally a one man army.
The sad thing is eSTRO isn't the richest team of the lot - despite their sponsor owning the rights to Proleague (1 000 000 000+ won deal with KeSPA) so it's not like the money doesn't exist. It's just that they're not willing to spend it on their players. Maybe it's because they suck too much, or maybe its simply because they are stingy. I hope its the former, since shelling out for Jaedong would be so beneficial for their team.
If eSTRO are prepared to bid 200M+ for Jaedong I think they will be able to take him - and with that acquisition they will rise to the top.
I think KT has the best chance of getting Jaedong, but I really hope this is where he ends up.
MBC Game Hero
MBC are semi-renown for paying the bare minimum for their players. In fact, I'm reasonable sure that if you're on the B team you don't get paid at all. All of their FAs took pay cuts when they resigned; Pusan took a cut of over 30M won. They also let Bisu go to SKT since SKT offered them some nice cash in return. While MBC desperately needs a Zerg to pull them out of this shitheap that they've dug themselves - they aren't going to be putting out any figure which is going to win the auction.
WeMade FoX
WeMade is another team which could benefit from having Jaedong - indeed it would be the perfect complement to Mind/Nada. But hey, with WeMade not doing so well lately and Nada/Mind boasting amazing salaries for doing almost nothing and them signing Moon recently - how much money is left for them to spend on Jaedong? I doubt they will be able to do any better than 140M won (Hwaseung's offer) hence, WeMade doesn't have a chance at acquiring him. (Unless they pull out lots of $$ from nowhere)
Woongjin Stars
Woongjin have just lost GGPlay, one of their senior Zergs. Their current lineup consists of Free, Zero and "insert Terran here". While I think Woongjin will be interested in buying Jaedong, I think they will be more interested in buying Midas. Midas was once the best Terran in the world and has a huge amount of experience - an invaluable addition to the team (and for a good price).
Jaedong, ultimately, is too pricy for Woongjin. Indeed, I think that acquiring Midas would be better for the team, even though Jaedong would bring immediate results. Jaedong juts doesn't seem like a Woongjin player to me - Woongjin have always been that team that was once great, and ever since have been continually struggling to reach the top again. Jaedong isn't the answer to their struggle - he's the easy solution. Midas helps the team grow and become more dangerous further down the line; Jaedong simply glosses over the problem and leaves the rest of the team looking like shit (hi rest of Oz).
Hite Sparkyz
I don't really know much about Hite. They used to be a really cool team, but then they treated Casy like shit and Zeus retired. I think that Sparkyz will be posting a reasonable bid for Jaedong - but nothing game breaking. Perhaps 150M won at the most. Nevertheless, I think one of the richer teams will be more eager to purchase him than Sparkyz.
STX Soul
Realistically, STX's roster is packed. They just signed Calm for 130M won and Hwasin and Kal for something like 100M won. They're protecting their players and I don't think they're looking to expand it anytime soon. For STX their goal is to build on what they already accomplished this past season and I dont think they need Jaedong to do that. He's just not worth that much money - especially since STX is already shelling out a lot to retain it's stars.
So there you have it, my analysis on where Jaedong is going to go. I'm eager to here your thoughts on the matter!!
Keep in mind that whomever wins the bidding war has to repay Oz 200% of Jaedongs current salary - while I think teams will still try to acquire him, he's one costly motherfucker T_T
either way jaedong is gunna be getting alot of money for playing starcraft and he deserves it ^^ I hope he stays with oz but ill just be happy to continue to see him play.

lol yeah, that's what I thought too. I was hoping to open this thread about a bitter rivalry they've had and then Jaedong getting his breakthrough and totally ditching FA and then later them reuniting and rekindling their friendship or something.
I really wonder if the Lecaf coach will be replaced in the near future. OZ has gone from PL champs a year ago to, if JD does leave, the potential worst team in proleague besides ACE. In the last year he's let Anytime leave, and drove ForGG away. Which indirectly is causing JD to seek a new team.
This guy has really done a number on OZ.
edit*
it's been a while and I can't remember the exact details, but wasn't problems with the coach part of anytime's reason for leaving lecaf, or am I mixing that up with ForGG's deal

Perhaps, but keep in mind that he's been the coach of Oz since like 2003, possibly 2001. He's built this team from the ground up - and so it's not like he's a terrible coach... just mishndled this situation haha
I think the sleeper team in this whole thing is Woongjin. They've got all of GGplay's salary coming off their books, and we haven't had a chance to see anything to judge the spending power of the new sponsor.
On August 21 2009 13:24 StarN wrote: This may or may not be in the thread or Waxangel's thread, but when exactly will we find out where Jaedong is going?
We should know everything for certain by the 27th. But teams are already bidding on jaedong right now. Jaedong will not be informed of the teams bidding and how much, and will only be aware of the highest offer after the bidding war ends (afaict). Jaedong only has the choice between signing with the highest bidder or signing with hwaseung, he can't choose based on where he would like to go.
It just doesn't seem like eSTRO even cares about its players. It's cute how they're getting some foreigners but it just shows how little they really care.
Excellent blog. 5/5. I couldn't imagine to see JD with Bisu. The 2 rivals, looking for the top 1 ranking in the same team? hm... hard to believe... I really want Jaedong goes to Samsung. Stork and JD could be a could duo. If Stork manages to have JD has Z partner, his PvZ will improve like the hell.

this.
fantasy/jd/bisu on one team would be just unfair. They would be able to send out whatever race the ace map favored if it ever got that far.
One angle in all of this that gets missed is that Jaedong himself wants to stay at hwaseung... it's only his mother who either out of genuine concern for his health or genuine concern for his financial wellbeing wants him to go to free agency, and her signature is needed. I think it's entirely possible that no matter what he gets offered he'll reject it and then return to hwaseung, if he can convince his mother otherwise.
how's jaedong and fantasy ganna get along? they had so much beef, jaedong knocked fantasy out on 2 straight OSL and then fantasy in return denied jaedong's proleague championship. Iloveoov and boxer designed strategies to beat jaedong, and take advantage of jaedong's extreme confident in winning at any situation. they didn't design these strategies to beat zerg. It just happened that every other zerg player picked the wrong race and got experiemented on by fantasy.
proof? day2 proleague final ace match, the strategy was commenced before fantasy and jaedong step into their booth, jaedong was set up before the game even started!. when jaedong sees Fantasy talked to only iloveoov, jaedong thinks "only oov and not boxer? they must trying to trick me into thinking about a terran macro build, and then cheese me good" jaedong's action in response to the talking of fantasy and oov is 12pool safe build anti cheese. when jaedong's overlord fly over fantasy's expansion, saw the wall in and a rax building jaedong thinks "oh shit they got me, they knew i was watching them and knew i suspect talking to oov only will prompt me to go safe build, they already took the econ advantage now, since i went pool first." in response to this scouting information jaedong goes expo and fast tech while making minimum defense and lings in order to savage his already delayed 2 hatch mutalisk timing. but little did jaedong knew that rax he saw building was the 2nd rax.
See this is a fuckign set up and great acting, fit for jaedong only because they know jaedong thinks he is the better player and willing to play catch up vs any player, and SKT had nothing to lose, because they still got bisu the next game, even if jaedong suddenly lost all his confidence and decided that he can't beat fantasy when he's at an disadvantage. (jaedong despite have only 5 drones after hwashin's bunker rush, still confidently thinks he can beat hwashin straight up, and proceed to drone up instead of all in)

I'm fairly certain that starcraft is just a game, and these two people really don't give a damn about what happened between them. They were doing what they had to do.
The only time I can think of where there is genuine tension between players is when something like the tossgirl/yellow thing, where yellow lost and people accused him of sexual relations or some shit.
But in reality, I'm certain jd/fantasy don't hate each other.
edit: and what if two teammates meet each other in individual leagues? After one loses, does he go home and beat up the winner? Of course not.
why did Oz have to release their offering price for JD? Unless they get to offer one more time after all this stuff is done, I think that was retarded.
Just in terms of teams with money and need for a good zerg player I'd have to guess Samsung as much as I'd hate to see that, At least Jaedong's mother would approve of their practice style

whatever team jaedong gets on they are automatically getting the best player in the world so he will probably "backpack anywhere he goes" except probably skt1.
SKT1 is my favorite team of all-time. I do NOT want JD going to T1. I miss T1's legacy of scouting and nurturing unknown players into powerhouses. I was pretty disappointed when they snatched July (and we see how that worked out), as well as when they took Bisu (although he seems to be a great fit actually, he doesn't truly feel "T1" to me).

I totally agree. He is obviously a pretty good coach considering they got 2nd place in PL this year with JD, and the failcrew. Obviously he arranged some smart sniping, and consistently at that.
I'd love to see him and Flash together. Also, spending hours and hours together practicing every day- and discussing theory/mechanics... I think would elevate both their game play and and at the same time catipult KT to at least #3.
My favourite outcome would be for JD to join Khan. Maybe they would have some fans then! It gets so lonely...
There is probably huge pressure on JD to stick with Oz no matter the bid. It could take the team years to recover from losing him unless they themselves buy good players.
'Their current lineup consists of Free, Zero and "insert Terran here". ' Cruel as it is to, this made me laugh quite a lot. I'd love to see Jaedong go to SKT1 because then it'd give me the perfect chance to do a Jaedong/Bisu photo shoot.
Oddly, I don't think I would really want him going to Woongjin. He would overshadow and probably take away from Zero's playing time. Of course, Free/JD/Zero/random sucky Terran is a pretty damn strong lineup...
Nice writeup, however I don't think KT realistically will bid highly for Jaedong at all.
I don't get why people constently underrate Luxury. He's a top 3 zerg player when he's on, an MSL winner as well as a the winner of the World Cyber Games. He recently knocked Calm out of the WCG qualifiers. He's every bit as good as his brother Yarnc if not better! With a player like that, why in the world would KT want to spend bank on Jaedong? And don't give me 'because Luxury sucks' because he doesn't. -_-
To me, the best fit for Jaedong would be Khan because they have needed a great zerg (haha NPI) for a while now.
Do team sponsors like KT/ Samsung etc not give a whole lot of money to their starcraft teams? There is absolutely no reason that these companies couldn't throw down MUCH more than 200 million won for a player like JD. I would think the publicity JD would bring them would be huge and well worth the money.
Seriously 200 million isn't much at all unless the viewership of SC is MUCH lower than I would imagine.

It's more like 500 million If they bid 200 million since they have to pay the teams double the bid and pay the player the bid.
Jaedong in SKT1 might destroy Proleague, not only would they have a top player from each race but those top players would be practicing against each other all the time, making them even more deadly.
Also I initially thought this had something to do with Jaedong and Frozen Arbiter as well
Remember this: Starcraft is the second most watched sport in Korea behind Football. Signing Jaedong for your team would be like signing Michael Jordan to your basketball team.
following GTR's thoughts, JD would be an investment that would surely be worth for the less spotted teams, like eSTRO. What I mean is that they need a superstar to figure in the individual leagues, and attract money (including from fans, sponsors and other forms of contracts). JD is the best fit to this role. SKT, KT, hite and CJ already have this marketing aspect.
On the other hand, of these 4 teams, the one that needs the most a zerg is SKT. I think KT still has confidence in Luxury, like me.
At individual level, Bisu and fantasy are already good against zergs, so JD would benefit more. That would be awesome for SC, especially zerg, appreciators. But does he really need them for this matter?
Back to team talk, SKT would be farther than they already are. In the future, that would be nice to remember. But this would ruin proleague for me, as I prefer competitive leagues.
In conclusion, I'd rather see Oz picking another reliable player. Don't know the possibilities of it happening, though.
Sure Jaedong will be a good player for SKTT1, but I dont think he would be in the best environment for him personally.
Jaedong is a monster and probably thrives on being the leader of his team. Being in the company of Fantasy and Bisu would mean he would have to share the star status.
Training partners are probably better SK, but Oz didnt have exceptional talent to train with, but Jaedong still rose to the top.
When talking the price, I think many forget that it's either pay 200% of old salary or 100% and trade one of your own players except for 6 protected ones (as I understand it). I think giving Oz a player back would be the most beneficial for both sides, since Oz needs more quality and the chances to make the PL lineup in a team Jaedong plays for will decrease dramatically for the non-protected players.

This is like 100% speculation to help support your hopes of JD staying out of SKT.
I don't understand how any reasonable line-of-thought could bring you to that conclusion...

It's a shame, really. I like Jaedong a LOT, but it looks like I'll have to keep supporting the player and not wherever he ends up, unless it's one of the scrappier teams.
Seeing JD in a KT uniform or what have you is going to be strange.
Sure he'd still be carrying the team, but it's not like Oz where he was literally a one man army.
This sentence makes no sense, Hiya and Backho may not be amazing but I'm pretty sure they're better than anyone on eSTRO.
Actually, eSTRO is pretty much known for always losing 2-3. It's not like they always lose 0-3; They can get some wins. And if they had Jaedong getting that extra win and also an ace match victory, they would probably turn all of those 2-3's into victories. It's not like Oz where they always lose 1-3 with Jaedong winning one game.
Honestly I believe the team that will be most eager to purchase him will be one of the tv channel teams. Either Hite or MBC.
MBC is in a huge slump right now and we know they have the money because they had players like Bisu and July before. So Im picking MBC right now since they don't really have an ace whereas Hite has Leta. Although I also think that KT should bid on JD, but it would affect the superstar status of Flash and I don't think KT wants to do that.
The rest of the teams either already have their own superstars (and are paying alot for them) or, they just don't have the money to bid on him. In the end Oz is still the best team for JaeDong, hes been doing so well there and hes been there for so long and they are probably the only team that can afford him right now if they can just increase their bid a little, Im sure they can acquire him back.
The thing Im affraid with JaeDong is that if he moves to a new team he would go into a slump like Bisu and July and GoRush and a whole bunch of other guys. And theres no telling if he can come back like those guys.

"He's a top 3 zerg player when he's on" Yeah you might be right about that, but unfortunately he barely ever is "on". No doubt he has the talent to be a great player but his performance in the last PL round was really really really bad and Calm, Kwanro, Jaedong, Effort have been doing much better and looking at individual leagues you can of course include yarnc and type-b on that list. Is he gonna get out of his ass and play good again next season? Possible, but he's not a reliable player like JD and he probably never will be.

woot? ^^
Anyways, I'm not convinced that going to eSTRO would lift enough weight off JD's shoulders, so I'm hoping it'll be KT (Well him going to CJ would by far make me happiest but that's just not very likely at all)
Sure he'd still be carrying the team, but it's not like Oz where he was literally a one man army.
It's not like Oz where they always lose 1-3 with Jaedong winning one game.
i think this is worded weirdly, it's not like they tied for the best record in proleague by always losing 1-3 >>
Additionally In the 4 rounds of proleague this season (excluding winners league), Oz went 3-7 in matches lasting 4 games. They also went 12-6 in matches last 3 games. Overall that puts them at 15-13 (53.6%) in matches that didn't go to ace. Meanwhile, eSTRO was 11-12 (47.8%) in matches that didn't make it to ace. Oz won many more sets (12) 3-0 than eSTRO (6).
I don't really know where I'm going with this, but in the end, Crunchums original quote is pretty ridiculous. jaedong carrying eSTRO is going to be no difference than jaedong carrying Oz.
I wouldn't say Samsung is that unlikely, considering they already bought JJu (top 3 zerg then iirc) and Sigamari (probably the best 2v2 player ever) in the past (2004 I think?), so they can spend big money on a top player. January is still the couch as she were then, the only big difference is that they have good players now (back then Khan was like a freewin in proleague), but still not good enough to be first. Also, there are rumors around that when Stork threatened them to go to KTF quite recently, he got a big payrise, so they still are willing to shell out money when needed. I think Khan is easily among the 3 most likely teams to get JD, maybe even better (although KT should be the favourite).
On August 21 2009 14:39 Athos wrote: Nice writeup, however I don't think KT realistically will bid highly for Jaedong at all.

It's because Luxury wins one game spectacularly, then loses the next 10 miserably. The OP is suggesting that buying JD would give them a boost from the dreaded #7 spot. To me, this makes perfect sense, but somehow Jaedong on any team other than Oz is kind of awkward o_o;;

It's a shame, really. I like Jaedong a LOT, but it looks like I'll have to keep supporting the player and not wherever he ends up, unless it's one of the scrappier teams.
Seeing JD in a KT uniform or what have you is going to be strange.
On August 21 2009 22:15 Plexa wrote: Afaik, OZ will retake JD only if no other team puts a bid in on him
Probability of that happening? Pretty much zero.
From the other thread:
The source also revealed that they would offer JD the same contract if he failed to sign with another team.
So it is not whether a team puts a bid on him or not but whether they can offer him a better contract and he (i.e. his parents) decides to join the new team. The chances of JD staying with Oz are imho much higher than almost zero.
It's a good write up, but there's something missing - responsibility. Although a team like SKT1 or CJ might not offer him as much in absolute terms, Jaedong would end up with a more relaxed schedule, which is something he (or his mother) would probably like. With PL taking up so much time now, being on a stronger team will allow him to concentrate more on his individual leagues. He wouldn't even have to settle for that huge a difference in salary since success translates into more cash bonuses. That's the argument I'd make to him as CJ or SKT1.
I also do not think any team will want him if his mother forces him to sign with a team he doesn't like. I don't think they'd like a grouchy Jaedong mooching around the house not putting in his best.

For once, I agree with Storyteller. A big problem for Jaedong this season was the fact that besides being involved in three seperate individual leagues for a very long time, he also had to carry his team through Proleague practically on his own (although, arguably, it was not nearly as bad as the Winner`s League).
As such, it would be highly beneficial for him to join a team that has other ace players that could ocassionally carry the team. SKT1 is the perfect choice for this since both Bisu and fantasy are more then capable of doing so and even players such as Best and Canata can be leveraged at times. CJ and KT OLLEH! are also good choices, due to CJ having EffOrt and KT having Flash.
As much as I'm an SKT1 fan, and I'd love to see them pick up a good zerg, I can't see them getting Jaedong being a good thing. Proleague has become a much bigger source of attention recently, and a team that can reliably 3-0 virtually every match would not be healthy for the league as a whole. SKT1 is already arguably the strongest team in PL right now. Beefing them up more (and in the process taking down one of their closest competitors) only serves to make the league more boring.

Except doesn't he have to negotiate with the highest bidder? Even if he might like a schedule on CJ or SKT1 better, isn't he not allowed to negotiate with them unless they put in the highest bid?

Sure but that doesn't influence which team he will go to since that will only be decided by who offers the most money.
If SKT1 buys him, it'll be like the Real Madrid of Korea. Buy all talent just by sheer leveraging of money. That would be sad. We need a team filled with passion a KHAN of sorts. I do hope he goes to CJ or estro unless Oz can do a reversal and get some good players AND retain Jaedong.

Oh right, I assumed that if "negotiations" don't work out before the deadline he can still go somewhere else and try to work something out.
I mean, "negotiation" implies that both sides have to give way, so what if in the course of negotiations the team decides to lower their original bid till it is lower than the next highest bidder? Or what if he makes such unreasonable demands the team decides that they don't want him anymore? Does that mean he has no choice but to go back to OZ, or if things breakdown in half an hour can he then move on to the next highest bidder?
I'm pretty sure JD's contract with Oz was 140mil with up to 60mil more in performance rewards which, assuming he wins this Osl, is probably going to get most of so really he probably makes around 180. Does the amount he can get in bonuses factor into the bidding war or the double payback? cause if not JD could get poached for 150mil and be making less than before

Furthermore, having 3 S class players on the same team could mess with team chemistry. In the individual leagues, they would all be favorites fighting each other. Practice gets difficult, its tougher to try new strategies (how can you be sure the other guy doesn't learn about it ahead of time?). Egos flare. I just don't see it working well, even if they somehow decide to pony up for all those large contracts.

edit: and what if two teammates meet each other in individual leagues? After one loses, does he go home and beat up the winner? Of course not.
Actually, I would argue that Jaedong and Fantasy actually do hate each other. In one of fantasy's interviews, he said that when he played Jaedong in the Batoo OSL finals, he didn't think that JD was that great. Jaedong also said in his most recent interview that he wanted to prove his skills were superior to Fantasy's. In addition, I can't believe not more people have noticed that neither Jaedong nor Fantasy gg'ed back in their most recent OSL match. Holy shit, if that's not a sign of bad blood between the two players then I don't know what is.
ughh.. i dont think you know the rule of FA in e-sports. The team whos willing to buy Jaedong has to pay the double JD's previous salary or pay the same amount plus trading one player away. So it is predicted that the winning bid should be around 3 0000 0000 won

No. It's been repeatedly shown that the best mentors are from the same race. JD would really benefit from going to STX, but Boxer and iloveoov won't be as much help. Also, just having a good zerg on your team won't make anyways vZ better and vice versa if you have no good zerg on ur team, like with FBH with protoss and bisu with zerg.
I can see Jaedong slumping from this. He was raised in Oz and seems to have formed a strong bond with Backho, Hiya, and especially Lomo. Also, he never seems to give the "look, see how sorry-ass my team is without me" face like Flash does. On the other hand, there just doesn't seem to be any more he can do if he stays in Oz. It's quite clear that his presence isn't bolstering the other players on his team. I agree that Estro is probably the best team for him, since it lets him retain his position as the team's Ace and try, once again, to lead a group of studs to greatness.

People aren't always themselves in their interviews. iloveoov was infamous for purposefully taking advantage of interviews to psychologically mess with his opponents. He even said recently that his interviews weren't meant for ill intentions.
You'd be surprised what happens off camera and how people behave when the media isn't all over them.
Plexa - you treat Jaedong changing to another team as a foregone conclusion. Where's your entry for the likelihood that JD returns to Oz? Is the originating team not allowed to bid?
If jaedong wants to win a proleague, best teams to go on IMO would be Khan or KT. Maybe CJ, but CJ doesn't need to go out of their way for another good zerg, even if it is jaedong.
i dont think T1's head coach is stupid enough to get JD. Team atmosphere is more important to SC than anyother sports so since theres spark going on btwn JD and bisu, JD and fantasy, JD and iloveoov(by saying some stupid stuff about hwa seung), it doesnt help t1's chemistry at all to get JD
i really really hope he doesn't end up on SKT... that would be awful. SKT is like the yankees of SC (at least this season), their lineup is stacked as is, and they're my least favorite team. having my favorite player on my least favorite team would be a total mindfuck for me, like when you bet against a play you like in liquibet.

Yup, it pretty much is. Many teams will bid on him and he has to go the to one who bids the highest. I suppose he can decline it... but it's not even his decision - it's his moms.
i don't like the idea of jaedong moving to skt. Making skt a bonjwa of proleague would not be entertaining at all. Staying with oz seems best although carrying the team will be tough for him, the atmosphere there suits him well.
Jaedong will not go on the team to which he want to go; he'll end up on the team his mom decides is best for him. This means either KTF, SKT, or CJ. He won't have to carry his team, he'll get great practice partners, and he won't have to deprive him of his health. I think he would find that the coaching at SKT will be just as suitable for him as was his coach at OZ. He will NOT go to another OZ, which is to say another team which he will be carrying. That's precisely why (that and the fact that OZ wasn't offering him the money for which he was searching) he entered FA.
Better not go to SKT. I'm hoping for him staying in Hwaseung or going to KTF. KTF/SKT rivalry would be awesome, and Flash/Jaedong series would get a whole new dimension.

It doesn't sound like it's his mother's decision to me.

It says he requires her permission to sign a contract; it does not say that she signs the contract for him. She basically has the power of veto.
which is the power to chose. He can pick between hwaseung and some other team. Guess what happens when she vetoes hwaseung
And when he refuses to join the highest bidding team? What, she's going to leave him teamless? :/
just because she won't use a power doesnt mean its not her power to use. So yes, she could leave him teamless.
While we're on the topic of things that could happen... there could be a mass-extinction causing GRB heading our way right now!

I get the feeling you're just saying random things because you want to argue over basically semantics.
If jaedong's mom is against him going on a team AND has veto power and jaedong knows it, you're being ridiculous if you think thats not affecting his choice.
If she says to him "Under no circumstance are you going back to hwaseung, I would rather you retire than go back there", guess where he's not going to end up?
remember when they moved bisu so that they would balance proleague and teams and blah blah blah? they had that bisu moving away cremony before a msl match? i don't think that they would let SKT have jaedong that easily. like someone said earlier in this thread, it would ruin proleague.

oh ffs... I said that it is not her decision not that she has no influence on where he will be.
And now you're talking about her being able to force him into temporary retirement. Yes she could, but why would you bring up this incredibly unlikely scenario?
on one hand, even as a t1 sympathizer i worry about the prospects of competition if t1 signs him.
then again, i realized that it wont have too much impact on the future of the industry. some fans will be pissed off, but no reason to be particularly pissed off because the underlying economics and such was always there for this to happen, and it has happened before with superteams and such dominating in resources. the basic amount of hype and presence of the overall ordeal stays the same, at least in the first season. anti-fans will stay on to watch what happens. i don't believe t1 will not suffer unreliability issues and win over everything, as history demonstrated, name attractions do not translate into performance. in the end, all it means is that t1 will gather approximately 98% of the fangirls and prepubescent newcomers under its banner. the values of that particularly development is entirely null for me.

Actually, the reason Jaedong is a "free agent" at the moment is because his mother did not want him contracted to Hwaseung under the conditions they offered - despite the fact that Jaedong wanted to stay
so, since hwaseung already made their offer, if any other team make an offer twice as much jaedong will have to leave oz? doesn't that make it almost certain that he won't be on oz next season
Looks to me like he's in excess of 75% chance of ending up back at oz.
The fact that any team bidding for him has to pay oz 200% of his salary in compensation makes him incredibly expensive for any team.
Considering he stands to retain a 140,000,000 contract just by falling back to oz, one would think a team would have to bid at least that to buy him. Which means a whopping 420,000,000 payment to get Jaedong on your team if you are not oz. That's probably more money than your top 4 current players are receiving altogether, and in that situation JD is only getting 140mill of it, which is not a particularly stellar salary.
I guess Paying 100% of his salary and giving a player to oz might be an option, but that's still cripplingly expensive for most teams.
So unless some of the richer teams are only feigning disinterest, I don't see him ending up at anywhere other than oz.

Oh ok, that seems more reasonable, the FA system looked somewhat like an unmovable force before.
Still on some of the poorer teams (estro etc) I think 300 mill is about what their top 4 are going to receive anyway, since they tend not to have very top players. I'm not sure any team would be willing to pay more than the salary of t their entire top tier just to get 1 player, even if it's Jaedong, unless they had money to splash around.

Who get's that money (the 200% that has to be paid.) Does it all go to Jaedong's old team Oz?
