It's yet another blue, beautiful day, (not unlike one eight years ago, that shone over New York on a Tuesday) and, freshly fortified with breakfast, I'm up for another game of starcraft. I am not completely surprised that my D+ campaign is going poorly at this part in the season, I've encountered my share of mis-ranked people, and duly lost to them. But the game I played this morning stung a bit, because I was ahead for most of the game, I had made a couple deft choices and was primed for a final push. That's when the carriers arrived over my base.
What I did wrong: - I didn't scout the carriers. I was perhaps a little to pleased with how had I played so far, and did not react appropriately to his suspiciously small army sizes. I'm wondering if a couple goliaths midgame is not a bad idea, if only to stall in the eventuality of carriers. Goliaths do not do absurdly poorly against toss units, and can be used to snipe observers, - I had a science vessel somewhere, but I forgot about it, and that was dumb. - I didn't build workers particularly well at my second expo. - I realized after that with my tank army outside his base, and two dropships with the army, I could've shuttled my tanks down to his base, and that attack would not have stalled.
What I did well: + Improved use of hotkeys, although I got a little screwed up after a point. How many cc's should I have hotkey'd at a time? + Better management in battle for the most part. + The drop was a nice adaptation, I thought, and clearly effective. + Per DAy[9]'s last podcast; I came into the game with a plan. I executed that plan as I intended.
How I'm doing so far? I think a lot of previous wins can be traced to cute little drops and timing pushes, but I feel that my game management is improving, whether or not it's resulting in wins at this point is unimportant. I am 4-13 with 739 points.
- treehugger* * I refuse to bow to peer pressure.

Go go go terran! This is actually the best time to practice, late season best time to rank remember that (I'm kinda gay for saying best time to rank is late season hahaha)

just watched the replay. I don't know if you want advice of not, but i'm going to give you one tip
spend all of your money. you have a few k min and gas, and idle factories. just whack them full with tanks and vultures. make the queue totally full if you don't have the apm to build one round every fifteen seconds of whatever. that way, you use your surplus money, and idle factories.

you don't really need to hotkey the CCs much past the early game. What you should do is use location hotkeys for them, shift f2 f3 and f4 to save location, f2 f3 f4 to recall location. Use one for your main CC, one for your natural CC and the other for any other expansion perhaps. I've started doing this and it's very helpful.

The pros don't hotkey their cc once they get up to double cc. Only hotkey your first cc, then use F2-F3.
