Sidewinder. Best mouse I have used to far.
|
ive had a G1 for 2 years and its been good
|
I use MX518, it's a good mouse. It's big and not so small like most razer mouses for example.
|
I use G3 when I play SC. I have no problems with it. The side buttons are indeed very annoying, so I just have them disabled, and it works just fine. Doesn't G1 have identical shape as G3 (minus the side buttons)? I'd get G1 if that is the case.
I also have G5, which I don't like nearly as much for SC. I prefer smaller computer mice I guess.

Razor and Logitech are both good brands for gaming mouses, imo. Don't get something that is like super expensive though. Try to spend about $15~$25 for a logitech mouse if your looking to get one of those.
|
Razer Lachesis imo
Had it about 6-7 months now, and I am still in love with it
|
Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer is good for me, I play all games with it.
Find a 1.0 version if you can though, I doubt you would be able to though
|
I know this isn't the answer the OP is looking for but i suggest trying a razer mouse. I have a Razer Krait and it's sooooo bad-ass. Not even as small as some people say, I've had smaller O.o

Razer DeathAdder is beautifully comfortable.

I have a Razer Diamondback that I picked up about two years ago now, and it's still working flawlessly. The extra buttons were great when I was playing WoW, though they see minimal use now - you hit them with your thumb, and the only other use I've seen for them is they're set as Page Forward/Backward in Firefox, which is useful enough, I suppose. The mouse performs amazingly, and was way too fast for me when I first plugged it in, that I had to bump the sensitivity all the way down, and it's still pretty fast. The blue lighting complements my computer, and the other few colors it comes in look pretty damn good too (the red is sexy as hell).
I paid $50 for it two years ago, so you could probably get it cheaper now, or a better model. I'd highly recommend it though. I'd definitely buy a Razer mouse over a Logitech any day, but I have a passionate hate for Logitech products.
|
I have two Razer Kraits and a G3. I have to say both are extremely comfortable but I like the Kraits more because they just seem smoother and more reactive. G3 is by far one of the best mice I use though. Krait has nothing on G3 when it comes to reliability T_T

IntotheWow..
I believe G5 will suit you the best, u'll feel like a man.
MX518 is really solid mouse, FPS, RTS cant go wrong with that too..
|
ill just add my question in here as well. What are the best mice that are big, as in Diamond 3G big for gaming? I prefer bigger mice.
|
MX518. As someone with humongous hands like myself, I find this mouse to be perfect for playing a variety of different games (including Starcraft).
+ Show Spoiler +You know what they say about guys with big hands...
|
id recommend a razer diamondback, ive been using one since like 3 years.. the only downside is that it usually breaks after 1 year(i read an above poster saying that hes had his diamondback since 2 years so it might be because i abuse my mouse too much)
adjustement-wise the first 1-2 weeks is hard but once you get used to it.. you know how the saying goes + Show Spoiler +once you go diamonback you never go back

It really depends on what sensitivity you play on. If you play with a very sensitive mouse you probably should get a razer mouse/logitech gaming but if you play on low sensitivity all that extra dpi doesn't really matter that much.
|
Mouse: MX510(if you can still find it) or MX518 Mousepad: QPAD!!! So smooth!
|
I also own a diamondback. Seems like a decent choice to me.

Thanks a lot.
The G5 is shaped kind of like the mx518 right? It was too big for my taste.
Seems like so far the best option for me in terms of size and weight is the G1.
Anyone knows if there's a big difference in technology between the G1 and G3? I mean I don't care if it's 2000 dpi against 1600...
The side buttons look annoying, specially for claw grip.
Still thinking about the moused
Any small razer mouse? From their site they all seem pretty "long"
Thanks again everyone.

I have the Diamondback 3G and I love it. I certainly like it more than the Logitech MX518 I had before this.
|
I have a G5 and I really like it even though it's pretty big and I'm left handed. (LOL it's a right-hand molded mouse)
G3 is a laser mouse and G1 is optical. Laser mice are better on surfaces that are glossy/reflective (these can make optical mice jump around when they shouldn't), and can handle higher sensitivities in general. The max DPI on optical mice is about 800, and most people just don't go much higher than that. Laser mice go much higher, and i like being able to use 1200, but few people will go much higher than that.
I would only get a laser mouse if price isn't a factor because they are quite a bit more expensive.
On a side note, i don't actually see the G1 for sale. Is it discontinued?

Here's a picture of my Diamondback next to my phone for comparison.

I own...
Razer Salmosa Razer Krait
Logitech Mx510 Logitech Mx518 Logitech optical (the small one Nal_ra and some pros used for a while)
Microsoft optical mouse
I personally prefer the Microsoft optical two button mouse, but I've gotten a lot of gifts over time after it broke. If you have a "claw" grip I'd shy away from the mx518/G5. The G3/G1 is amazing in the category, I'd pick one up. It's not as slim and tiny as the Krait, but still has that nice sleek slim feeling.
I use the Razer Salmosa right now. It's the simplest and most like the Microsoft Optical Mouse I used to use.

I use a KTEC KTM3500 which is the best mouse I've ever used. It cost me about 10 bucks.

It's okay, you can disable them. Even if you don't, they do nothing in games. They are "back" and "forward" buttons. So clicking them in games have absolutely no effects.

On a side note, i don't actually see the G1 for sale. Is it discontinued? Laser mice are still worse at tracking under almost every circumstance, including the newer sensors, and D(C)PI is a mostly irrelevant number. Optical mice do go well above 900 CPI, but I know very few players that actually use sensitivities that high, because it's simply too high.
To the OP, your first concern should be shape. If the MX300 is what you like, I recommend you try and buy another one or get a G1. I think the MX300 is actually superior, but since Logitech isn't making them anymore, you next best bet is the G1, and the G3 is worse than both.
Razer might have a similar shape, but you might as well stick with what works.

In most cases, unless you're a QL player, the difference between the laser and optical sensor won't be noticeable. I guess the G3 has some negative accel and malfunction at lower CPI settings, which may be an issue. Seriously, first try looking around for a MX300 on eBay or something.

The default DA CPI is 1800, which I agree is too high, but that's why you drop it to 900 or 450. I think the MX518 starts at 900 by default, which is why you might've liked it more.
Either way, DA (IME3.0) and MX518 are both too big for the OP.

Damn, that's like less than half that I would have to pay for a G3 lol

Don't buy G3 it sux i tried G3 and krait, now i got logitech mini optical, and it's good but I've got some problem with drivers (mouseware), it's not detecting my mouse as logitech mouse just some HID compilant mouse. Anyone had this same problem before? I tried installing Setpoint but it detected mini as some black wheel optical mice not miniop.. and works worse than without drivers imo. btw. i'm winXP SP3 user

logitech optical.
Cheap and indestructible. Should be enough for bw. If you want to play competitive FPS get something else :p

Oh well, I talked to a guy who buys straight from logitech, apparently the G1 and the G3 are discontinued, all of them being sold are used or refurbished.
I don't get it, I read posts everywhere about people wanting the mx300 / G1 / G3 but logitech discontinues them, wtf

QCK+/QCK/QCK mini are all perfect pads.
I've got a mini for LANs and a + at home because it's huge.
