I was reading the PR (lololol shitstorm) and suddenly when I go to the next page the embedded Youtube links work perfectly!
Bug in the Great Firewall? Terrorist attacks? Obi-wan Kenobi?
Anyway this rules.
Edit: After cooling off this post really lacks content but seriously. When the blank bland squares full of despair and emptiness were suddenly replaced by the lights of Yongsan and the roars of the MBC commentators, I felt like the second coming was happening right now, before my eyes. I have never felt so religious in my life than in this blessed moment.

It's great that you feel that way but I think that your priorities are a little weird if it really felt like the second coming

Most people know how to go through it by using proxies anyways.

Welcome to the internet, man. Browsing Youtube is one of life's great pleasures.
|
I hate creating lackluster threads, even on the god-forsaken blogs section, so I'm gonna add some pictures I just took.
This is not my bike:
Lol!
I feel much better now. 5 stars please.
@ alffla: Actually with the time difference being only 1 hour here, I can watch most interesting matches live, and grab the rest off wfbrood / youku (chinese commentators ftw rofl. Fei long = muta? Xiao gou = zergling? Seriously?)

What? Youtube got unblocked? Thats nice, i've been on this VPN for age(overcome the blockage) guess I will check tomorrow w/o the VPN and see how it goes. You live Beijing right? How is the snowstorm up there. I live in Shanghai btw, if you ever come to SH maybe could meet up lol Edit: Still blocked for me T_T

Why not? In Warcraft 2 or all of the Age of Empires series, the buildings that provide populations are either called houses or look like houses. In Starcraft, Overlords provides populations, so calling them houses is reasonable.

If you understand Chinese well, a few commentators actually give incredibly insightful and hilarious commentaries.
|
Nah, clearly, the best thing is when the science vessels are about to get scourged and they go: QIU! QIU! lmao. I love that. :p Idk why, hahaha. I actually kinda like chinese commentary. Too bad Youku loads slowly for me.

you can watch every progaming VOD, most of them in Chinese and Korean commentary on wfbrood.com
They even upload their vods faster than jon747
Theres really not much to do on youtube if you're in China imo. There are so many popular chinese vod sites.

It's blocked again.

|
I could not imagine my life without youtube. Congratz dude Edit: Just saw that it was blocked again?! What happened?
|
Lots of snowmen protesting in the streets tonight. Some kind of silent demonstration. They refused to look at me when I passed by. I think all of this is related.

Indeed. Uusee is also very reliable, even in America, I watch all the games on Plu.

You're not missing much now imo. Youtube was way better when it first came out. There were real interesting videos from around the world. Nowadays, Youtube has been segregated by country and commercialized to the death. It's also filled with crappy v-bloggers who auto-refresh on their videos to get them to the most viewed pages.
So now, ultimately there are still good videos but they're buried under the mountains of crap ones.
|
U GAVE ME FALSE HOPE
now it's apparently blocked again, I think.
|
I hope since youtube isn't blocked in China anymore we can watch some all star night episodes of chinese progamers

So is there anything that you can't work around? Also, are people in general mad at the government for blocking stuff, or do they kind of agree with it?
|
Well, it's still not working for me without VPN. Maybe it has to do with service providers(since I live at a school).

It sucks for me when I browse English message boards, and this big white screen appears every time someone posts a relevant video. Not so much starcraft. But moreso with my hometown Rockets/Texans/Astros.
But ywa, I agree that the whole OMG CHINESE GOVT IS DEVIL BECAUSE NO FACEBOOK NO YOUTUBE thing is waaaaayyyyy overblown. Most Chinese(as in not expats) don't really give a shit.

Well, I have to say most Chinese even the younger generation are very well tamed(is it the right word?) by the goverment. Most of them just didnt care about all these blocking cos they can use the chinese alternative of these websites. And yes, youtube, facebook are all have their chinese alternative. Imo, foreigners in China are those who suffer the most by these blockage.

No one in China uses Youtube/Facebook/Twitter, so they could care less.

just because two things have the same function doesn't mean you should call them the same thing dude

That's like saying you're not allowed to call both landline phones and cellphones "phones." What horrible logic. If you say "houses" in regard to Zerg, everyone in China will know you're talking about Overlords, so no point to come up with another name...?

I'd still be pissed just on the basis that the governments controlling what I can do...

Maybe it's because I've played WC2, but the term house seems to be pretty self-explanatory. Besides, ovies can carry armies, so they do provide housing.
Chinese terms kick ass and funny as hell sometimes.

Well yes, I would assume everyone in China would know what I'm talking about when I say "houses" in regard to Zerg, since they do say it in the commentaries and nobody gets confused by it. Indeed, there is no need to come up with another name as it is already commonly used and understood.
What does that have to do with ANYTHING I said?
also i must add that your counter example is frankly retarded

Yeah it was just confusing at first because the commentators would be like HE'S GONNA SHOOT DOWN THE HOUSE or w/e and I'd be looking for marines killing a hatch or something lol. Chinese terms are indeed awesome, red ball/white ball/technology ball ftw

If everyone understands you when you use the term, why shouldn't the term stick, regardless of what other things the same term describes?

A retarded example for a retarded point. I'm glad you now see how retarded your logic was..
