Our team had to build an internationalized site within a few days turn around time to help promote a global benefit for earthquake relief in Haiti. I figured I'd share.
The international site can only be viewed outside of the US, Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico: http://hope.mtv.com (you can watch the stream of the show here though if you are not in the US, otherwise, you can watch on MTV.com or on tv).
All the messaging points to donate at http://www.hopeforhaitinow.org or by calling +1-773-360-0205.
Hope For Haiti Now: A Global Benefit For Earthquake Relief is hosted by George Clooney, Wyclef Jean and Anderson Cooper and features musical performances by Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira, Sting, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, Coldplay, Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z and Rihanna as well as appearances by over 100 of the biggest names in film, television and music. All of the proceeds from this event will go directly to Oxfam America, Partners in Health, The Red Cross, UNICEF, Yele Haiti Foundation, The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund and United Nations World Food Programme.
We can all help. Please go to hopeforhaitinow.org to donate now.
Credits: Much thanks to G.s)NarutO and Liquid`Drone for help with translations.
Note: If you want to help me with translations to Danish, Finnish, French, Italian, Hungarian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese (Portugal), Portuguese (Brazil), Swedish, Ukraninan, Japanese, and Spanish (Latin America) overall, any help would be appreciated =).

Haiti Haiti Haiti, it's all i hear right now. Don't get me wrong, i feel sorry for the people that live there.. BUT, my country [The Netherlands] donated 86~ Million EURO, like it's nothing.. WHILE WE HAVE AN ECONOMIC CRISIS OVER HERE. Instead of trying to fix things here, they rather donate huge amount of money to some other country.
SENSE - The Netherlands makes none.
it pisses me off.

86 million Euro / 16.5 million people = 5.21 Euros
That's the cost of a sandwich.

it pisses me off. What the fuck? You deserve to get banned for that shit. Don't you think Economic Crisis is all over the places?! What the fuck? Why are you valuing people's lives less than your economic crisis? PEOPLE'S LIVES ARE AT STAKE. PEOPLE FUCKING DIED, AND MORE DYING DUE TO STARVATION, MALNUTRITION, AND INJURIES THAT CAN BE TREATED WITH SURGERIES. I guess you are donating all of your money to Africa everyday, right?
what ever, im not blaming those actions, just dont request his ban because you dont like his opinion.
I could help with the translations, neutral spanish, and gl with the donations

You don't have to freak out just because you disagree with me, what i'm saying is that the netherlands always supports other countries with a 100%, while we can't even get it right on our own country. not to mention the netherlands is always among the top5 of donations while were this shit little country.

Please tell me you are trolling.
I would like to think that people this oblivious to the realities of the world and the suffering of others don't really exist.
PD: I bet the dutch spend more money a year on cheese or something like that, not bashing the country, but you really need some perspective.

Or you can just leave charity to the private sector instead of having the government take your money and give it to someone else... Just a thought.

what his trying to say is.... If a donating country can't get things right in their own country why would they donate... he wants his own country to get back on their 2 feets and then start thinking of making donations otherwise the "economic turmoil" will be lengthened due to the large sums of money flowing out of the economy.... but in that sense money is just paper and metal coins, peoples lives are in danger and in this case and in all cases human beings > money.. so priorities are priorities .. you need to take the big flames out before you take out the little ones
have a fantastic day

84 fucking million is what The Netherlands is donating its fucking ridiculous. Germany a country that has 84MILLION PEOPLE IN ITS COUNTRY is donating 20million while we as one of the smallest countries in the world with 15million people GIVE fucking 84million doesnt make any motherfucking sense indeed. (at least thats what i heard) -.-
We could Probably have bought Haiti for 84Million.
Gotta love Holland, yawn.
Another thing Haiti only has 9million citizens ~ thats not that fucking much i think we gave enough money already. (the entire world together that is) how much are they gonna need. I think we are giving way way way more in total then they actually need, we basicly gave them so much that they can rebuild their country x10 or something (they didn't have anything to begin with but some concrete wtf buildings)
edit: and from those 9million only 1million doesn't have a roof above their heads anymore. kekekek

the guy has a point. it has nothing to do with greed; you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of others. suffering exists in all countries, rich or poor.
at the same time you cant allow devastation of this magnitude to continue without aid, especially since the people of haiti can not help themselves.
comparisions to haiti and african countries are not fair either. haiti was in bad shape before the earthquake, but it was the earthquake that caused the widespread devastation. in africa the issues are political, and thus are not readibly solved by aid.

The Netherlands has a declining unemployment rate (4% in 2009 as opposed to 4.6% in 2008), a growing GDP of about 2% every year, a declining debt.
The United States, has a rising unemployment rate (9.7% in 2010 from a 5.8% in 2008), a declining GDP (lost 2.6% last year), a rising debt.
The United States is not as well off as the Netherlands. We have more than twice the unemployment rate, and a debt that by the year 2020 will be nearly impossible to reverse. The United States, by eNoq's opinion should never donate any money in the near future because our economy is decreasing. Why the hell should we help people when we have more and more people unable to get ANY job.
But guess what? We donated $100 million so far, and are going to donate up to 3 or 4 times that amount. I have recently donated to Haiti, only a couple hundred dollars, but I know that at least one person will be able to get some food for a day.
Want to know why people want to help people like this? Why should people at all help those in need? Why should I give money to someone I don't even know, who lives in a shack in the poorest country in the hemisphere, when I can use that money to save for a new car?
Well maybe these are some reasons as to why I should wait a little bit longer for that car. + Show Spoiler +(yes those ARE dead bodies)
Is your country as bad as this? It doesn't matter where you live, I seriously doubt your life is as bad as this right now. Do you really need that $1.50 that you were going to spend to upgrade your Big Mac from McDonalds from a small to a large, more than they do? I seriously doubt it.
Anyone who says otherwise I will believe is a self centered, egotistical, shit talking, sympathy starving, spoiled bitch. Your life is NOT as bad as theirs. You CAN help them. Telling other people not to help those who are fighting for their fucking lives, is one of the worst things I think anyone can do.
Edit: Sorry to continue derailing the thread.

You don't get it do you, I made a little map for you take a look + Show Spoiler + Oh and btw 86.000.000 Euro is 121.569.600 Dollar (so we gave more then you guys did AT the moment)
Our point is why are we in The Netherlands giving such an INSANE amount of money compared to any other country in the world. If anything WE Dutch people should be complaining about HOW YOU GREEDY AMERICANS don't give shit compared to us.
Why is a country that has 20x as less people living in it donating the same amount of money.

fyi American's give almost $300 billion annually to charity privately. That's more than every countries government aid combined, including our own. It's also the highest % of GDP given to charity by any country. I don't think you can do too much complaining about how Americans don't give shit compared to you
