I think that is pretty cool. Reminds me of those shows in Universal Studios where you watch it in 3D, and like water gets thrown onto you whenever you watch it on screen.
Haha, that actually looks kind of fun. It would be more of a one-time experience for me, though, as I wouldn't want all cinemas to have this fourth "dimension", or even 3D for that matter.

If I'm remembering correctly, it's time but not as we know it. I think it's like you would see the entire life of something at once or something like that.

Its not actually 4D.
Isn't the 4th dimension time?...
Yeah basically if you want to give the position of an object you need to give its x position, y position, z position, and time that you are locating it at...

Everything is in 4D as the 4th dimension is time. That does make it sound a lot more badass if you don't know what it really means. Smells =/ the 4th dimension lol.
Welcome to Sound: the 5th dimension.
Coming soon: Touch: the 6th dimension.
Edit: It truely is a better name for smell-o-vision.
Since the whole movie is animated in 3D, theoretically they could edit all their software so that the animations of objects are used to map an additional w-position to all of their characters and objects. Then, all they would have to do is figure the sound out somehow, use a 4D camera projection algorithm, make 4D camera paths, and voila... A flyaround view of a 4D world in stop motion.
It would make no fucking sense though, when you watch it.. Plus, since 3D models are really just 2D surfaces defined in 3D space, it would look like a bunch of hollow shells floating around with pretty colors.
