I guess Arcanum is a bit more well-rounded, it doesnt have any parts of the game that felt inferior to the other parts of the game. It has such a cool interactive world

They are pretty decent, it's just that the ratio of combat-to-story is higher than it is in Baldur's gate for example. Still, there is tons of cool lore and locations to explore. You'll probably miss out on some bits of info that's tied in from the first game, but you can play it stand-alone and not feel totally left out of the loop.

Damn this is tough, new games keep poppin up. I've never heard of Sacred 2 for instance Arcanum, what's that? I looked it up, I like the graphics etc...then again I'll be the first to say that a good RPG does NOT rely on good graphics. Hell, I've spent a ridiculous amount of hours on Nethack, Angband, Moria etc and those games are made up of ascii signs lol

I'm not a big RPG fan/player and I recently started playing Fallout 3. All I can say is WOW! I'm loving this game so much. After I finish the main game and all the expansions I'm gonna play 1 and 2. edit: You mentioned you don't like 3D graphics. Someone recently made a thread outlining some great RPG's. Download a SNES/PSX emulator and play some of these. http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=115883

Is it science fiction? It seems a little bit steampunk imo, which is pretty cool

I'm not too into Japanese RPG games either, probably because I never had a nintento (but instead a kick ass Amiga 500 and Atari) growing up. Also I have chrono trigger and those games and a SNES emulator, and I've already started playing them. I think they have potential, thanks for reminding me.

It seems a little bit steampunk imo, which is pretty cool I can relate. I honestly haven't played a lot of rpg's to begin with, but if it wasn't for a mixture of extreme boredom and curiosity. I would of never started playing. It's a post nuclear fallout/apocalyptic/science fiction setting/story, but it's really good! If you love The Road Warrior, you'll love this game. It's smart, edgy, and just does it for me compared to Japanese RPG's. At first I was overwhelmed due to the size of the world and amount of choices in game play you could choose(note: I haven't played a lot of RPG's to begin with), but after a while I seriously started getting into the story/loving the setting/ and being able to choose my play style with my character. I definitely recommend you get the Game of the Year Edition and just go for it. I'm glad I did.

Although there's this optional/ and sometimes necessary V.A.T.S system. It basically lets you pick what body part to aim at and gives you a percentage of possible success. Although boring after a while, it does come in handy. For more info check this out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout_3#Gameplay Don't read the plot spoilers! Why ruin the game right

Probably one of the few which is capable of changing how you look at the world. Epicness guaranteed. Wow you almost sold the game to me right there. I'm seriously considering choosing Planescape: Torment now. I like stuff that changes your outlook on things, whether it be books or computer games.
