So my stomach just growled for the 5th time in the last 10 minutes. I think my stomach's trying to tell me something.
But yeah, I've had the stomach flu for the last 5 days or so, and I have to say that it really, really, really sucks. Every time I turn on the TV to watch football games, all I see are beer and food commercials. I want some too. =(
But alas, I can't have anything even though I'm craving just about everything. Hell, I even wanted to go to Burger King as I passed by it today, and I hate BK. I just want something besides bread, water, bananas, and soup.
I'm hungry. Anyone have any suggestions on what I can actually eat? I'm like going fucking crazy thinking about food. Fuck, I'd even pay to go eat shitty dining hall food right now.
|
Damn I'm sorry for you man... if you're really so ill that you just can't be eating, all you got is water really. I personally love water, so if I were you (and were healthy enough to drink water) I'd drink gallons and gallons of water and pretend that I'm some parched desert vagabond or something to make it taste better.
I wouldn't ask for food suggestions though, because now you're going to have all sorts of people talking about all sorts of foods and it's going to just tempt you and keep your mind on food that you can't eat even more.

Hot tea should make you less hungry. Eating bananas are good too. Consider drinking some gatorade or sprite(7-11)
|
saltines! with like dip or something don't know if dip is allowed but saltines + soup = good =)
|
Ramen! Even if you puke it out, it was only 50 cents in the first place!
Best of luck with the flu tho.
|
usualy I just accept the pain, and eat what I'm craving. Things that are easy on the stomach...
Ice cram samwiches?
|
Shin Ramyun with egg, meat, carrots

Got tired of crackers/saltines. Been drinking loads of liquid. Doesn't really make me full.
All I'm really looking for is something that doesn't taste bland as hell, and is also filling. Otherwise I'm gonna be eating the same things until I get better, and that makes me

make chicken soup, cut up a tortilla and put the pieces of that in the soup, along with, if you think your stomach can handle it, a squeeze of lime and a little bit of green sauce
|
No one have said this well but here in US, we have a secret remedy that cures all sicknesses (well mostly cold). And that is.... CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP!
Not only it's good, but it's very yummy and have its own song of it! :D
|
Apple sauce? If you like it of course And your stomach can handle that

If someone told you to go on the BRAT diet, stop doing that, it doesn't work and actually has been shown to worsen diarrhea, the bananas and bread should be added to a balanced diet.
Try some non-sugary cereal, saltines and pretzels with soup is probably your best bet, check your neighborhood souplantation

Soup is good. I've been having mild servings of soup. Can't have chicken though. Stomach reacts poorly to it though. I've been having pretty much some bread and bananas in the morning, some soup and crackers at lunch, and a mixture of all that good stuff with some rice at dinner.
Garlic bread definitely no good. Way too much fat and grease. Stomach doesn't like fat and grease atm.

Stomach probably hates spicy too . ew

personally when i had the stomach flu all i did was drink water and throw up eat and throw up after around a day and a half of doing that crap i got better but guaranteed it will hurt after awhile at least in my case i was required to drink/eat stuff just to throw up however in your case i am thinking of doing the same thing since it seems to help your body if you just throw up a bit my word of advice since my flu went away in like a day but i cannot count for every single type of flu so this is only based on that one certain experience
|
At least you didn't have a seafood dinner the night before you got stomach flu
|
Can you eat congee? I always eat that when I'm sick. Get better soon ruffles~
|
My favorite late night snack lately has been fried eggs and chocolate milk.
Sounds strange but it's delicious!
|
Microwave pita for like15 seconds, makes it chewy and good
|
Poor soul Hawtdawg! with no grease. buy some sausages and roast them in the oven, wrap'em in bread for a low-oil, tasty snack.
Sounds like you want tasty, so just avoid the oil and get some meat. Meat always helps
|
I second congee. It is my ultimate comfort/ getting better from a sickness food, but if you need something that doesn't require any effort at all, I swear by Ensure for some strange reason. It give you quite a bit of energy and actually make you feel a little bit full. However, I don't know how your stomach would react to a dairy product.
Also, many people seem to hate that stuff, but I basically chug one every day lol.

Stomach flu should NOT last 5 days afaik. Are you sure thats what you have? Have you looked on webmd or gone to a real doctor? You probably should, as a quick gooogle on stomach flu retrieves
"Call your health care provider if diarrhea persists for more than several days or if dehydration occurs.:"

I've gone to a real doctor. It was diagnosed as Gastroenteritis. If that's not stomach flu, then I really don't know what is.

Just make a simple seared foie gras, with lentils, miso broth, and pickled radish.

It'd be nice to actually be able to eat all of the suggestions in this thread. However, some stuff such as seared foie gras just isn't plausible at the moment.

Its a bitch to have. I was like you. Couldn't eat for several days and was craving literally everything. Just going through days just drinking water and eating porridge makes a man go insane .

You can eat anything you want just start easy. If you can keep it inside eat more.
|
Pepto bismol? I heard that stuff helps with relief. So does flat soda or I suppose ice tea. Something that gets sugar into the body without upsetting the stomach.
I would also eat congee in your situation, but that stuff can get old without anything added to it.
