Thanks for this thread, nothing can turn a bad day around like seeing giant piranhas and sharks leaping out of the water and devouring helicopters and airplanes.
Bus companies love to show pirated DVDs of movies like these in my country on long overnight trips. I'm sure there's a bus out there that's probably screening these movies right now, lol.

Although the movies might look terrible, they are just making films that people enjoy. And money speaks louder than the quality of work.
Responsible for such classics as Transmorphers and Snakes on a Train:
actually I love bad movies so this pretty much made my day
I remember this was streamed at tl.net a long time ago. Was so hillarius when I saw the shark jump up in the air and kill the airplane just out of no-where. Shit was so cash/lol.
My cousin is a director for the asylum. Apparently they make a lot of extremely low budget movies that are terrible, but as long as a few people see them/buy them, then they can make some profit. Often times anytime a movie is announced, the asylum will make a parody and try to release it right after the other one, so people will be interested and watch both. (For example, my cousins directed a sunday school musical and a knock off sherlock homes movie right around the time their counterparts were released). Extremely low budget and fast filming/production make the costs very low for making these types of movies.

And ALL of them get aired on Sci-Fi Channel (I refuse to use that stupid fucking name).
I hope they never stop making these movies. They make fantastic drinking games.
Preliminary idea for Mega Snake vs. Gatoroid:
Take a drink every time one of the two female leads calls the other a bitch. Take a drink every time someone sees a monster and instead of running, stands there screaming. Take a drink every time there's a catfight and a male character just stands there and watches. Take a drink if a character dies through their own chronic stupidity. Finish your drink if one of the monsters takes down a plane again.
Ouch, thanks for the laughs. But then you cannot blame the Asylum for making a quick buck or two, there will always be people watching this kind of silly stuff. /rolleye =3

lol I think this would be the only reason for me watching it >.>

lol why is his marriage line even in there, and one more question the plans landing gear is down when it hits the water, that pilot has some sick reaction time. Gonna watch all these movies this weekend
I played both videos in OP at once, and some of the labels came up simultaneously, which gave me chuckle.
Seriously, these movies are so ridiculous that they are borderline satire. I assume that SyFy is going for the shotgun approach for trying to churn out "so bad it's good" movies, though at what cost. Heck, maybe in the future when they have the sequel to Mystery Science Theater 3000, we'll get a very nice commentary on these ridiculous movies.
The best thing you can do with these movies is try to predict what happens next and make a contest to see who si the most accurate (reward is up to you to decide for a winner of a round!)
My personal favorite cliches are..
1) "Creature Cam" Whenever the group of racially diverse men and women are walking around in some wilderness, there is always a shot from the creatures "eyes" following the group, usually modified with some filter.
2) Only one male and one female making it out alive.
3) There are two possible endings for a movie like this 1. the monster really isn't dead and in the final scene of the movie, it zooms in somewhere and the creature attacks the camera, credits roll. 2. the monster had babies and they are the subject of the next movie. I've seen several occasions where both of these happen at the same time. Double points!
what the asylum does is, see a good movie coming out in theatres, then release their version of it straight to dvd right before or at the same time the real movie comes to theatres lol. Their films tend to break even after about 3 months and dont cost over a million bucks, seems like a good business lol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Asylum Check out their films lol.
I love how the Asylum is so straightforward about making movies that blatantly ride on the coattails of blockbusters. I actually almost confused "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "The Day the Earth Stopped" at the store once lol
actually "acquired" megashark vs giant octopus and sat thtough it, but then again i did the same thign with john cenas "the marine"....pro-tip: if the starring actors in the movie look more like porn star actors (cue:deborah gibson) than anything else you can be sure youre in for a treat.

lmfao it is Jaleel White, wtf why is thats the one movie he chose to be in after his successful career in TV? Stevie Wonder could see that these movies are shit lol
Me and my friends are running a Swedish Creature Feature-blog! We recently watched this movie, but it hasn't been reviewed yet. But there's alot of other reviews available, check them out!
I just dont understand why syfy continues to fund crappy movies. Are they really that desperate for viewers that they can make a mockery of themselves?

Some of us love watching terrible movies for comedy sake. SyFy is completely aware of it's niche. It's a great channel to turn to when nothing else is on. I watched Megashark vs. Giant Octopus with my roommate one day. We hadn't heard of it before, just thought it was another SyFy movie.
Then......
I don't think we've ever laughed so hard at a movie.
Edit: already been posted, but w/e. It's that good.
....HOW MANY OF THESE MOVIES ARE THERE? I thought I was getting trolled at first but nope...there really are like 18 sequels to mega shark vs giant octopus. shaking my head.
