My exam was a 7 question exam about a Public Relations Case which I had to examine Boeing (The aeroplane manufacturer) and its crisis situation about the 6 year delay of the launch of their new Jumbo jet 787.
It isn't super hard but damm its tiring.

That said my A levels weren't exactly brain taxing so I can't imagine any exam 5 hours long that actually required you to think. Must actually hurt after that long!

Oh yeah they were usually about statics. Bigass problems. And they were hard as hell, I was always a little afraid about rechecking my solutions because if I found a mistake in one then I would have to do it all over again. And the paper they gave us to write in was some recycled trash that looked like total shit if you ever considered erasing in it.

morning: 4 hours of exercices afternoon: (1.5 hour writen theory and 0.5 hour oral exam ) x 2 although you had more time than you needed for the theory so it wasn't a full 4 hours of hard work. Longest without breaks was probably history and chemistry on 1 day in high school: 4h40 non stop.

That one was more painful than the time unlimited honors linear algebra take home final, which took 2 days.

My longest in class exam would be the comprehensive exam at the end of my masters, which was six hours long. Fortunately there was a one hour break in the middle.

Worse days were 4 hours morning and afternoon, especially when it was that during basically 4 days. 4th week it started to be pretty annoying. And two years in a row, thanks to my brilliant choices^^ But the worst were orals. One hour a day was enough to exhaust me :/ Ahhh, the good old days. I'm not through with exams, but I'll never see that again.

My own mistake though, I was finished quite early but wanted to make very VERY sure I didn't make any stupid mistakes. Little did I know the second part took that long... I learned my lesson after that one. An interview is always some sort of an examination, but an actual job has a lot longer examinations. In November I spend 3 days in front of a jury of customers defending and proving my designs during a design review. On March 02 2011 19:38 annul wrote: i've taken a 12 hour final exam before. Say what? How does something like that go down: you start at 8amand the deadline to finish is 8pm?

EIT (Engineer in Training) Covering all areas of Engineering, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Computers as well as Physics, Economics and a few other topics. PE (Professional Engineer) Specializes in area you work, electrical for me, with further specialization in either power, computers or circuits. Passed both easily. Once you learn how to take exams, the length and subject really becomes irrelevant.

I've taken college exams that are around that long too. The worst was probably my math analysis (read as: Calculus 5) exam, which was about 3 hours and 30 minutes, and wasn't ridiculously easy like the SAT was -.-' Isn't that the old length before they added the essay section, which is like another 30 mins plus downtime? Most of my finals have 2-3 hour time-slots, but generally it's not all needed. iirc all AP tests are about 3 hours, too.

Mixed with the breaks and logistics on top of the test itself this ends up taking an entire Saturday where you come in early in the morning and leave at 6:00 p.m. or so. The test is fully comprehensive so I had questions on a huge range of coursework from basic chemistry to strengths of materials to heat transfer/fluids. Thankfully, since the test covers such a huge breadth of subject matter they don't tend to have incredibly in depth problems and the pass rate is actually quite reasonable.

I know its subjective since some can remain all calm and dandy about exams while others including me get really nervous, essentially the mind gets clouded.
