And I found it very interesting.
It has been up for almost a year, so many of you have probably seen it already.
But for you who haven't. Take a look, it brings up very unexpected studies.
Also, really sweet drawings.

the first part reminded me of TLO saying that whenever he thinks about the money in a tournament, he loses. Which is something other SC players have said as well. thx for posting this

(Guess what I'm doing right now...) But clearly it isn't, I do love the RSA animate series, and this talk in particular.

How do people feel about this in their personal experiences? I think I've always thought money was an ineffective measure of prosperity. It's like when you say money can't buy you love, or money doesn't buy happiness. All those studies that show people's happiness aren't affected by money anymore after their needs/financial stress have been accounted for. I suppose if you do anything for TL, you're basically doing it for free because it makes you happy etc etc. We're kind of a perfect example.

as for the actual results, they are a little weird. i agree with them to an extent, but i have trouble believing that all other things equal, people offered more money did poorly in any task at all. i would expect at least equal performance. just strange; it's kind of implying a reaction similar to "whoa thats a lot of money. good thing i dont want it" or something. but the compensation on the job, i agree fully. get enough money so you don't have to worry about your payments, future etc, and any more money won't really motivate you to do anything, at least in my experience. similar to how google does their 20% work-on-whatever initiative, i can definitely see how motivational tools like increased independence or potential for improvement/mastery will be better motivators than a slightly bigger number on the paycheque.
