So it's been about a month a few weeks since I've played starcraft. I've been playing HoN nonstop and its great, its FUNwhich is something I feel starcraft 2 definatly lacks. I've been playing starcraft for 10 years and yes starcraft (and sc2) can be a fun game.
I simply dont have the same motivation I used to have to be a good player. When starcraft was in it's beta stages I was extremely excited to play it and improve and progress. I'm not anymore. I performed well and won tournaments, beat top tier players and joined a good team. This is all in the past, it's no longer who I am as a gamer.
I want to play starcraft for fun
So most of you know, obviously I used to be part of VT Gaming, no I am not on VT anymore. We've parted ways mostly because of my inability to play starcraft. I don't have a computer that runs it properly. Not having a computer that runs starcraft means you can't practice which leads to sucking. Sucking is not good for teams.
Which is what I do right now...Suck...Terribly.
So, just for those of you who queue up with me on ladder, lets stop the constant questioning and just play...OK?!?!?! To prevent the constant badgering I will answer the questions that most of my ladder opponents have been asking me EVERY GAME.
1) No, I am no longer on VT. 2) I suck because I havent played in a month...Yes, you beat me, fair and square. There is no need to message me afterwards to ask if I was sandbagging. 3) I haven't played on the new maps yet, I'm sorry my build sucked. 4) Coming soon 5) Coming soon
Are you playing HON in pubs or running 5 man premades? i find solo hon to be the most depressing horrible experience ever, simply because of the kind of people who are in it
Yea kawaii, I tried wow for a while. Got to level 40 and wanted to slit my wrists. Just isnt my style. I find HoN very fun. It's nice to play a game and not HAVE to be good. Playing for fun is very pleasing. I suggest trying hon, but I warn you Its addicting as hell.
Arlock, you try bloodline champions yet? I play it pretty casually.. but its a bit like hon.. except no lane pushing and involves pure skill by reading movements.. basically a 3v3 arena.
The best part is, games are not 40min long like in HoN. ((This is coming from someone who played HoN very competitively pre SC2 era))
It's been nice playing with you Arlock on HoN, but I do agree that sc2 gets boring after a while, and especially not having a computer to run the game makes it worse.
Also, the chat channel and clan management system is so much better in HoN.
I'm still clinging to the hope that blizzard will make the right decisions and make sc2 better , although I play bw/sc2 around 30: 70 % now, its fun to just bounce between both games .
when i got sc2... stopped playing it after a week... and then didnt do BW i played total war games. After they got boring it was just ME2 on insanity with 8 hotkeys of squad powers. That was pretty fun till it got easy. Just go play bw and dont use ur old tag.
I can only ever play sc2 for a couple of days then I need to take a break for a week or so. Gets boring pretty fast. Tbh I could see myself getting back into broodwar at some point and abandoning sc2. That's what's happened several times over the past 10 years so..

not to rag on this particular too much, but isn't WoW much easier, and you don't have to be even decent to get like lvl 80+? It's probably the easiest and best made out of the mmos out there. or was the mmo genre not for you?
The Old Republic will be my last hope for a while in MMOs...hope I'm not kidding myself in hoping it'll be good. Hopefully you, I and others can join a TL guild where we can talk about Jaedong raping Flash while raiding ^.^

I just couldn't stand the game, it was so boring to me. Took no skill what so ever to play. So just the genre of MMO isn't for me. Thanks for all the comments and such guys, I'll see you on ladder soon I'm sure. My secret blizz MMR is probably going, "WTF is goin on with this guy, did he sell his account?"
No blizzard its me, match me up with some scrubs plz xD
I agree with the general opinion of MMOs. The genre isn't well-developed outside of Korea. Though it's true that I don't know how amazing or how shitty it is in Korea as well. The MMOs we get outside of Korea are all usually imports of the crappiest ones.
its easy to get burnt out in a game or sport if you feel you have to perform at a high level and not able to accomplish this. Sometimes its better to take a break and let your mind clear so when you do come back you won't have a feeling of " i need to perform really well" because you know you will be rusty and this lets you become a better player than you were before. As long as you play the game for the right reasons you will have fun in the long run. Good luck.
If you say you've been playing SCraft for 10 years, then you could be like myself in that the novelty of video games in general have just simply worn off. 10 years ago, I could find myself playing a game for hours and hours diving deep into the heart of the challenge. Now, 30 minutes is about the limit of my attention. Maybe this is video game desensitization.. maybe that's a new phrase that fits our dilemma haha .
