What the hell Blizzard? Ever since you were bought by Google everything has just gone fucking crazy. Zealots that fly and explode? What were you thinking!? That is so imbalanced! Don't get me started on marines being able to build their own bunkers. Yeah great idea, Blizz, I thought we left free bunkers behind in SC2.
Do you know what pisses me off the most? The SCIV strategy forum is total garbage! No one knows what they're talking about, it's just a damn noobfest where all the comments by anyone who is any good get drowned—not that anyone can ever be good at SCIV since user input has been simplified so much.
When did we decide Nexuses that can pick themselves up and walk to other expansions was a good idea? Ok, ok, so in SC III we let Zerg Hatcheries burrow underground and move very slowly, and in SC:BW we let Command Centers fly, but why let Nexuses do it as well? Is there no more diversity between the races? Are we back to Orcs vs Humans, where every unit has a near equivalent counterpart?
And what about TL? Why is TL picking up every new game Blizzard makes? SCIV is a piece of shit compared to SCIII. SCIII was a piece of shit compared to... well, not SC2. Everyone knows SC2 was a total joke. But SCIII and SC2 were worthless compared to SC:BW. Now that was a game I could get behind. Twenty years ago, when I was but a boy with passion and dreams, there was SC:BW. But now what do we have? Carriers that can harvest minerals for 25 energy? C'mon, that's fucking stupid.
I don't even care if all the best foreigners have moved onto SCIV. They're finnicky bastards. Can't even stick to a game if their lives depended on it. Who the hell even follows foreign StarCraft? Korean BW has been the only scene worth watching for the last thirty years. Trust me, I'm forty and wise—I know things. SCIV may have the best graphics of any game yet, but the game play has been lost in the mists of time, and Blizz/Google doesn't know shit about making games anymore.
Pfft, you didn't even mention the Mutalisks that could land and morph into flying lurkers. And here we were thinking TERRAN was imbalanced in sc2 - ever since they added lumber into SCIV, terran has never stood a chance (I mean, creep automatically mining lumber?! What were they thinking?
Edit: God, don't even get me on how they removed the need for keyboards - the fact that you can input your buildorder before the game and it carries it out automatically is COMPLETELY absurd! They are making this game friendlier and friendlier for noobs!
I hate how people can’t just let SCIII go. It’s an old, worn out game that only has nostalgia working for it now. Hell, half of the battle in it was just trying to navigate poorly structured interface. Having to select units before issuing orders? Who thought that was a good idea? And don’t get me started about the time before unit production facilities had the “make units” and “stop making units” switches. Having to select buildings and click on a picture each and every time you want to make a new unit is just barbaric. It’s people like you who are fragmenting the starcraft scene and weakening esports as a whole. Just look at the graphics. Clearly the graphics requiring 3d glasses is superior to the trash from SCIII, Why can’t you see it is just a better game?
And Carriers HAVE to be able to mine minerals, how else will we be able to reenact chapter 12 from book 15 “the rise of reinfested Kerrigan”?
There are lots of people new to the scene that have never played SCIII, and they all think that SCIV is the best game ever. You are in the minority and therefore wrong.
What I love is how Blizz officially killed chat channels in sc3. I mean come on they were a joke in sc2 so they fixed it by... taking them out? I mean WTF. I'm not buying sc4 I can tell you that much.
I agree. The addition of being able to issue orders telepathically as protoss has once again, for the fourth time, made protoss the easy race. I mean cmon, now you don't even have to press 1a, all you have to do is think of the term "protoss" and all your units attack.
I also feel that the addition of the fourth race, the Xel-Naga, is obviously imba. Seriously, they are the father race of the Protoss AND the Zerg, it's obvious that they would be a counter to both races. And ever since tanks started shooting SCVs...
dude the auto-micro command in sc3 furthered strategic play sooo much. And now the auto-build order command takes care of macro and adapting your style in order to bring the level of skill needed to be pro to a whole new realm. I'm glad that now you don"t have to grind for hours to learn stuff that only the "I have no life" koreans can actually get down.
With these awesome changes ... a pro doesn"t have to focus on micro or macro or multitasking or planning or disicion making or having fingers...at all to win. Now he proves he is the best by be top-notch at all the other stuff.... the really important things.
This furthers e-sports imo
EDIT: I hope in SCV blizzard finally manages to permanatly close the gap between pro and casual. it's not fair that people who play all day win more. They don"t have more skill than me, i just play less than those grinder kor noobs who have no creativity. If i want to only make flying units bliz should make it possible for me to win vs anyone i want!
SCIV sounds like the shit but is the format of your post a copy from somewhere? I'm getting a very strong sense of deja'vu. Or maybe it's just the madness.

When the Cylons and Skynet rebel and turn off the internet, only one game shall remain.
Brood War, with its brilliant use of LAN technology and innovative performance scaling that allows it to run on computers built many decades ago in 1998, will be the e-sport and game of choice for the human resistance. With SC2, SC3, and SC4 controlled by the machines, Lee Young Ho and Lee Jaedong lead a dual-pronged attack against the heart of the evil menace: cyborg Kotick.

Well idk man for me Starcraft 4 is like Warcraft 5.5 i mean it is good but it is not starcraft -.-
I mean i had like 10 apm in Starcraft 3 ( not as fast than the pros but still quite fast ). Now look at the new players coming from Warcraft 5, those guys have like 120 APH, this is absolutly terrible...
Well I stopped caring about competitive gameplay after BW. To me I just play it for the campaign and occasional custom game. I just think it's stupid that they still haven't optimised for quattuorsexagenuple core processors and 256-bit operating systems.
sc:bw eh, that brings me back. pot was illegal at the time, and insane greedy religious people ruled the earth. dunno if i would go back to the sc:bw though since i'd be dropping down 2 whole dimensions; the the new time travel feature in SC4 makes fixing your worker split so convenient
Frankly I am glad to hear you did not complain about the pre built bases that you can purchase for a one time payment of $10.00. You can chose from so many of them. Start the game with full worker saturation, a barracks, a factory and a fresh expansion! Many more options for all the races of course. If your opponent did not spend the $10.00 he will start with 2000 minerals and 2000 gas to catch up to you as fast as possible.

Yeah seriously give it some time!! BW had like 12 years, SCIV only has been out what a year?
have faith in bloogle man, they know what they're doing. when it comes down to it, they make great games. all their other games were smashing successes! give it time

This is should be in the OP. Adds a lot to the table.
All I see are a bunch of hardcore SC3 fans that are jaded by their nostalgia.
Who actually tries to play the new game or watch some of its games to form an opinion? I mean, come on. It's not like you actually tried to play and enjoy the new game or watched some of its games in the Blizzoogle StarLeague. If you hate it, you obviously just hate it for the sake of hating it.
Give it a try guys, because I somehow KNOW all of you diehard SC3 fans never tried SCIV.

wait..doesn't that make the current company blacktivision?
BWar was worth the $20 bucks 20 years ago, but 5 expansions @ $80 dollars a piece for SCIII (which only added 5 new units btw) and now 10 expansions for SCIV @ $100 bucks a pop! Jeez, I retired this year (65) and well good thing I never bought into that stuff otherwise I'd have no social security. Yep, been saving up for that new Megan Fox pleasure android (you know the full size unlimited edition if you know what I mean!) Oh well, if only it wasn't illegal to play BW here in Blizzafornia, USA.
On a related note: Did any of you happen to catch that news flash last night of the dude in the Milk Factory that now has been sentenced to 10 years for tampering with the cartons? Apparently he put a picture of a lurker and a reaver on the "have you seen me - Missing". Ya pretty dumb move considering its been illegal to talk about those units for the past 5 years.
I think you forgot the most costly part about SCIV. They stopped cross-country play.
At this point, I have five copies of SCIV. One for America, one for China, one for Korea, one for Ukraine, and one for Germany. I'll need twenty more to play with half the people I want to play with.

They say it's for antipiracy, but I'm skeptical...
Whats even worse is when they took out internet support. Now we have to buy shitty blizzard wireless modems just to play . Those god dam pirates just don't know when to stop...
But i love both SC IV and III. Honestly, how can you just chose a side like that? The game has only been released to the public as a beta for 3 years, give it more time.
But yea I'm paying for the modem anyway, think of what it is doing for esports.
What is up with the Bladder in SC4. I mean I can understand in SC3 letting you choose your own division and ranking, that made some sense. Especially since it matched you against bronze level players but displayed them as rank 1 1337t uber grand master division.
I really think that the auto rank up by just being inactive has gone a step to far.
I'm just happy that marines and marauders are still killing every tier three unit that Protoss, Zerg, and Xel Naga have to offer.
Ever since that stimpack nerf in SC2 was countered by the legendary "Terran T1 units automatically have stimpack pre-upgraded, lose no life when they stim, are infused with regeneration capabilities, and have haste, flying, and can't be the target of spells and abilities" buff in SC3, even IdrA has switched to Terran.
I can't believe we still have such whiners. Finally after waiting for 60 years since SC3, we finally get a sequel to fix the horrid 3D holographs that are soooo 2040s. Seriously why would I play any game where I have to look at a flat screen that gives a pathetic simulation of the 3D experience? Any game worth anything uses the new virtual realty holodecks.
Thank God I grew up in an age where video games involve actually moving your body around some to control the game. I can't imagine how many nerds died of poor health back when you just used a keyboard and mouse to control the game.
You know, what I like most about sc4 is that now even players can enjoy the game more like spectators. Btw Zergs, don't whine all the time! Blizzgoogle wrote they are gonna make a patch each day. The week will be divided into four parts. Sunday, Monday - Protoss buffs, Tuesday, Wednesday for T, Th, Fr for Z and the rest for XN. It's fair in the end.

Blizzard thought giving hydralisks +2/+2 and trample would have balanced it out

Don't forget first strike, and vigilance.

Disciple has a good point, by the way. You should really have used SCV instead of SC4 and made a joke about that.
He has a good point? Did he ghost post, because afaik he didn't even post in this thread... O.o
