Maybe they feel strongly that voicing their opinions to the group of nobodies they hang out with is not worth getting into arguments. Just because they don't express their opinions the way you do doesn't mean they don't have any.

In their head though, they are constantly analyzing what you say, and even if they outwardly agree with you they may disagree with some of your points in their head. Partially it's a defense mechanism for not feeling comfortable socially. If you're not comfortable, the last thing you want to do is say something that makes you sound stupid, so you will agree to allow yourself time to think about the issue. When people like this do speak for themselves it tends to be worth listening to though. I know because I used to behave like this a lot socially (and to a certain extent still do). There's nothing wrong with it, and calling them out for it in a social situation is just a dick move. (He may have been "speechless" but I'm sure he thought you were a dick, or at least was hurt inside). i'm an introvert and if i hvae something to disagree with i'll say it. I'm not gonna keep nodding my head to something i completely do not believe in. I called him out cuz at the time my friends were just making fun of me for laughs, and he came in obnoxiously bandwagoning when he had no idea what was going on. usually i dont call him out on it, but this time i did cuz If i didnt, i would be disrespecting myself for taking bs from other people.

I like being a nonconformist. I feel those "yes man" people are just bandwagoners without their own independent train of though/lazy/fearful of being different.

I was wondering why the origional post was written, this clears it up a bit. So you called the 'yeah' man out on 'bandwagoning' because it was 'disrespecting' you, but you didn't call out your friends, who were the true initiators of the 'disrespect'. I know you qualify that they were making fun of you just for laughs, a strange seperation, as from your discription he would just be mimicking them... indicating the insults would be similar. Guess it sounds like the guy just doesn't know you don't count him as a friend.
