I know i'm not the only one who just sat there and watched the whole of the TSL3 final. It was at times, jaw dropping. Game 4 (or 5?) the intensity with the blink stalkers was incredible. My hear was pounding at 200 bpm and I was sweating like mad.
Don't read further than here if you don't wanna get spoiled
And then it happened.
Thorzain made the miraculous comeback and he's suddenly the TSL3 champion and happier than a hobo on crack. His skill was unquestionable and I could see the intense concentration on his face when he pressed e then spammed those clicks over thorzains army on tal'darim. And when Day9 was screaming that the gateway units were so high in count and were about to crush tho....and the moment of inertia when he realised it was stalkers/gateway units vs. marauders with stim and all of a sudden thorzain had killed everything and was on the way to victory completely jubilant.
When I saw Naniwa type GG, everything literally stopped.
Time, my heartbeat, everything literally froze and my mouth just fell out of it's socket onto the ground. Then it hit me, Naniwa had lost.
Naniwa, the nicest person, the hardest worker, the amazing player. I felt sick, I couldn't even watch more. I just closed chrome and backed away from the computer in complete shock.
And I went to the bathroom and washed my hands, face everything with frozen water but I was still frozen. My place of comfort in my home is the kitchen and I sat on the wooden chair by the dining table and stared at nothing.
Naniwa had lost.
Tears began to flow and I wasn't even sure what the hell was going on. I've not cried for years and all of a sudden I was crying for some guy who I didn't even know and I probably would never meet.
I could imagine Naniwa as if he was next to me, shock crossing his face and sitting dumbstruck at his computer while he would listen to the jubilant screams of Thorzain in the other room.
I don't even know why I made this blog. It's stupid of me and probably won't do anything except make me feel a bit better.
Naniwa, on the off chance that you read this...just know you're not alone. Maybe it was just me, or maybe there were others. But one person on this planet cried when you lost.
P.S: I'm a guy

Nothing wrong with being emotionally invested in games (as long as it's not excessive obv). Probably tens of thousands of people cry after eg World Cup finals.
the jubilant screams of Thorzain. Somehow I don't think this happened, though.

+ Show Spoiler +Naniwa was just nervous and with chill lagging, and his first sentry getting sniped you could tell he was tilted by the way his macro slipped and his fiercesome CAPSLOCKS 10 gates no upgrades, no tech past colossus, and 2k money floated. Thats not nani right there, The pressure got to him he wasn't on his game.
I'm excited to see the next rematch was a great series.

I would like to make three points.
1) CHILL GET OUT! and 2) I was rooting for him too, it sucks that he lost, but it was amazing how back and forth the games were. I think Naniwa's mistake in game 7 was he kept his sentries too clumped up. When he harassed Thorzain's mineral line, the sentries were close enough to the cliff to get emp'd, it was a huge mistake, and it kept happening over and over. I think he would've won if he kept his sentries spread out more. 3) As this game matures, it really does go back and forth at the highest levels. This is definitely not the last time we will see Naniwa, he's going to learn from his mistakes and rape face at MLG.

Welcome to the life of a fanboy/girl. We love it when our favourite player wins, we nash our teeth when they lose by the skin of their teeth, we howl when they get thrashed.
I think it's fine. Emotional investment in the outcomes of games is what helps make sports entertaining. E-Sports is the same.

adorable. the driving force of all competition is the fact that it's other human beings behind it all, so i'm quite glad you had the reaction you did.
oooh curiously enough the blog title is a song title of mine!

Incredibly disappointed that Naniwa lost. But the finals were so amazing that I can somewhat get over it. Still, I'll remember this as one of the greatest SC moments of my life

Why Naniwa, why wouldn't you just make the switch T_____________________T

the relevance is that females cry more frequently...

When I saw Naniwa type GG, everything literally stopped.
Then I jumped for Joy as the hero of TSL who knocked out the former TSL champ, multiple GSL champs, had just taken out the MLG champ.

"Naniwa, the nicest person" Seriously?
70k Viewers in stream and Naniwa yelling "GET OUT CHILL" If naniwa have manner,he should say "chill can you leave please?" or act like ThorZaIN

Great -_-
This is the problem with having a troll for a brother...
How should I put this, i'm a dude who's sibling decided to ninja edit my blog when i'm afk due to the nature of it.

I was going for Thorzain. Naniwa didnt know how easily he would be able to finish the series imo and it just fell apart. It wouldn't have happened without Thorzains amazing decision making though, not a chance.

His sentries got emp'd so many times, good money emp's

That's a ban waiting to happen.
I, too, was rooting for Naniwa, but Thorzain's comeback was so epic that I didn't really mind. Such AWESOME games!

I really enjoyed the games even though I rarely watch sc2 games that don't include a zerg player ^^

I imagine Pusan winning something would have been first BOOM

I know how you feel - I too have trashed my room whenever my Fighting Irish get slaughtered by Pete Carrol. From today forward, whenever I see a naysayer who refuse SC2's potential as a spectator sport, I'll simply redirect them to the TSL3 Finals.
It. Was. Incredible.

I was rooting for Naniwa but the quality of the games made up for him losing in my opinion, wasn't sad at all by the end.
|
Wow, good OP. I felt the same way except I was rooting for Thorzain. Still feel bad for Nani though
|
Is it sad that I came into this thread expecting something completely different? + Show Spoiler + http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/User:Inschato/TSL3Bracket Personally though, I've been cheering for Thorzain right from the start (And picked Ret to win against Naniwa ) though I was shocked when it went the ways it did in the first round like everyone else. Completely believed in his ability to win the whole thing after downing FD. I got rather (read: extremely) nervous when Thorzain went down 1-3, and did not believe it either that he came back, wow.
PS: I'm kind of amused that my bracket has basically the two strongest Koreans right now taking 1st/2nd, my picks weren't actually based off any sort of skill opinions or such hahaha...

Feel your pain, I cry a little inside everytime Bisu loses, thankfully this SPl and WL seasons have been kind to me.

You're a piece of shit. Sorry.
It's really good to see that even the spectators are emotionally attached to their favorite players and the game itself. I personally was really struck by how Day9's voice started to tremble once he realized that Thorzain had pulled such a ridiculous comeback off and made history. So frigging inspiring. Definitely one of the absolute best Starcraft moments out there. The TSL delivered.
Poor Nani I feel so bad for him as well....chin up! You'll be back out there in no time snapping nerd necks!

PS.I'm a Male I really don't understand this. He's playing the last game in a very important match, winner gets 15k$. That's a fucking lot. And during this a caster starts lagging the game, sure, might not be the biggest blow to you sitting at home in your comfy chair watching the finals, but for some players this is a huge deal. Lagging can really throw people off their game as it interrupts the rythm in their play.
I fully understand Naniwa reacting like he did, people shouldn't mind it as long as it doesn't go too far. It shouldn't even be regarded as BM.

i absolutely loved the series, a month or so i wondered if there ever would be a more epic series then mana vs nama, especially game 3. And then the games began, i was so worried thorzain was going to lose because i was rooting for him. I was absolutely amazed it got to game 7, and game 7 didnt go that well too. But then, all of the sudden, with his 3 rax army vs a 10 gate protoss, he won. Most epic series in the whole of starcraft
