Seems a bit harsh to just desermate an entire colony of ants like that, but I don't know whatever. Are ants good for ecosystems I have no idea. As long as thier not in your house I would leave them to their own. I'm not an expert we just used to have a small colony in my garden which I would watch when I was a kid (like real young). edit - Oh my god that mayfly storm looks horrible.

The window guy said "you guys have some kind of an ant colony living below this window... there's gonna be a lot of them when I pull up this board." So everyone gets ready, then he pulls it up, in the process of which ants go flying in every direction from the momentum of lifting the board, and then the guy also looks down at the solid wall of ants and says "HOLY SHIT!" Most hilarious shit looking back at it. Good luck!

The ants get vicious and will attack any other bug that comes near no matter how harmless. They were coming into the apartment building =\. I forgot to mention that a few years ago, same apartment complex but different apartment, I started to hear a rustling sound. I have no idea where its coming from until a few minutes later I see a ton of ants, the same type as this time (a ton of the flying kind), streaming in from a crack in my window sill. I used the vacuum to suck them up as they came in, which they did for the next 15 minutes or so. It may be time to move.
