So it's been a fair while since i did one of these, so i figured i should knock one out while i was relaxing on this fine weekend (by fine i mean rainy and miserable).
The game itself was a random melee match i played on fish getting the 30 games i need to play ladder on my new smurf account. I chose it because i thought it was fairly exciting and felt really drained after it was done.
Anyways, enough ramble, on with the battle report!
The game was a Protoss vs Terran match on Fighting Spirit.
I was fortunate enough to spawn cross positions from my opponent, warping in at the bottom left corner of the map while my opponent landed in the top right corner. Unlike i've been doing on my stream lately I decided to play a standard 1 gate goon + range opening, instead of the 2 gate range no goon expand.
My opponent opted to go for a factory with a quick vulture before any addons to do extra scouting and harass.
Soon after dropping my nexus the vulture appeared in my main while my goons were in transit to harass the bunker at the front of his base, luckily a goon soon popped out of my gateway to prevent significant damage being done.
In the fits of panic dealing with the vulture in my base, my first goon died to a bunker =.=
I dropped my third nexus along with 2 more gates and a citadel after pumping goons from my 2 gateways
Unfortunately my opponent saw this and came out with a speedy 2 fac (he had a CC up at his nat already) push with 4 tanks and vultures with all the trimmings.
Feeling cocky i decided i could break this with just goons. Unfortunately it turns out vultures are pretty good. So are tanks.
Luckily i was able to clean it up with reinforcements from my 4 gateways
After dropping his third command center and going up to 5 factories, my opponent came out to push the same spot again
I cleaned this up easily but while i was doing that my natural was sacced by vultures. Unfortunately i had also just transferred the probes from my 3rd so i was left with about 1 nexus worth of probes
I proceeded to drop my third, and ran into him pushing again but managed to clean it up!
Finally, the time to counter attack! my goons easily broke his third and forced a lift and the scv's to flee
Unfortunately i couldn't stay and finish off the CC, because, you guessed it, he was pushing me again This time killing my nat CC and alot of probes.
After cleaning up the attack, i went and finished off his third, and on the way back part of my forces got cut off his tanks, that were on the way to push my fourth base. Settings up in a great position I was unable to break this line
I finally managed to clean up this force with the help of my first arbiter but lost the nexus in the process
I decided enough was enough, after cleaning up the push at my fourth I had more than enough forces to break his natural.
And the GG (or ]ww in this case) came soon after.
gg
I hope people enjoyed it, i know my opponent had terrible macro but he made up for it with his micro and tactics in game to make it really tense the whole way through
This makes me a bit sad. I did something similar with a game in TvP (though nowhere near as much damage as this one)...and Protoss is just stubborn in terms of losing.
How tense were you when you lost your goons in the first attack, in the ss it looks like 9 goons T_T Looks like a back and forth-ish game with the expo wiping. thanks for the BR
haha i was close to leaving the game. i hate losing my third. having an obs over his factories and at his third gave me hope tho. if he had a third up i probably would've just gg'd.
with that attack, i tried to close too quickly on tyhe tanks, all his vultures laid mines and they pwnt my goons without really splashing the tanks

I know that feeling bro. When you feel like the game is lost and want to leave, but you suck it up and play it out. good job man
D: that was intentional. the gateway is still close to the ramp, and it lets me put a nice group of 4 gateways supported by pylons near my nexus while keeping my tech out of the way
