I hope you're joking because I'm not being pretentious. I sincerely believe that someone's life which doesn't have any connection with mine should be as enjoyable as possible. Even if I did have dictator-like powers to tell everyone in the world how to present themselves according to my subjective beauty, it wouldn't be worth caring about. I'm posting in this thread to give my opinion on her nose job: it's bad but it doesn't matter.

Extrapolate that your girlfriend who has nothing to do with prior situation might get a similar plastic surgery. Claim you will be terrified and won't find her attractive anymore solely based on appearance. Sometimes I hate that my own culture has this fake and ridiculously commercial mega-culture but sometimes I'm not sure if the blame is only on them.

Note: I don't even care that shit got plastic surgery, I just think it's a shame that it obviously failed horribly. I won't rate her out of 10 because that might screw with the thread, but she definitely lost a few points. On November 15 2011 01:57 Ack1027 wrote: See Korean model get a bad nose job. Ack sometimes I hate that my own culture has this fake and obviously ridiculous contempt for people who appreciate beauty. It's fine, some people are superficial - but I wouldn't be happy if my girlfriend got a voldemort-style nose or a tattoo all over her face. Would I still have righteous people telling me I should like her for what's inside? It's perfectly legitimate to like and value someone's physical appearance.

When I look at Kim In Ae now I can't help but feel that something is deeply wrong. So yeah I'm terrified by the idea that I could eventually feel the same when looking at my gf if she decided to undergo a completely unnecessary surgery. Yes, this Korean model is not my gf, and yes, I extrapolate, same as if you're a parent and the kid next block goes to the hospital for overdosing you can't help but worry a tiny bit about your own kids. What's wrong with that? And yeah I like the way my gf looks, sue me if that's being superficial - and losing this pleasure because of an unneeded surgery (as opposed to something you can't control, my gf has scar tissue on one arm because of a traffic accident and I don't care) would make me fucking mad.

I simply read your words which say you wouldn't find her beautiful anymore, solely off of 1 change like a nose job or something. If your attraction to your girlfriend is entirely physical, ok that's fine I don't care and I'm not judging. If you say she is not beautiful anymore to you because of 1 physical change then your relationship is obviously not that big of a deal to begin with so why even worry about it. What if she wants a nose job like that? Are you the property owner of her body parts? It seems like from what you said you wouldn't even talk about what she wants and just break it off immediately. Your point about being able to ' control ' her plastic surgery is confusing. And comparing it to a traffic accident analogy is lol? Why do you think you can control whether she gets her boobs bigger or a tattoo of something important to her? I'll stop posting in this blog to stop offending you though, since apparently you take a lot of offense to my opinion.

I don't think people are taking "offense" to your opinion, but they're dumbfounded by it. 1- His attraction to his girlfriend is not entirely physical, but if she was 300 lbs and hairy, he probably wouldn't like her anymore. Basically: appearance is important. 2- One physical change can be enough to turn a beautiful person into a not-so-beautiful person. This is where you're wrong when you say "the relationship obviously isn't a big deal". My girlfriend is beautiful, but if she got her nose lifted up so that her nostrils would point straight ahead like a pig nose, she'd suddenly stop being attractive. I'm not particularly superficial, but I really really like her and how she looks, and it would be a really big problem to me if she altered her body - especially her face. The nose is the CENTER of your face - changing it is not "just one change", it's a big change. 3- It has nothing to do wanting or thinking he can control what surgery she gets. Again, it has nothing to do with control. Just his personal feeling about it. I can't keep my gf from piercing her nose or tongue (thank god she has no interest in doing so), but I would still be sad if she did.

A Korean model had surgery. Is your girlfriend Korean or a model? If neither, then the risk of this is extremely low. Furthermore, is she likely to emulate a Korean model who you can show looks worse (based on the majority of posts in this thread) or the same as before? This has no bearing on your life so stop worrying about it. If you care because you have some emotional attachment to Korean celebrities, knock yourself out.
