This week we have our normal weekly video and I'd like to happily inform you that I received the promotion from gold to platinum. It seems like it takes about 2 weeks ~ 100 games of consistently being matched against plat level opponents while still winning more than you lose for the change to happen. That seems pretty fair I'd guess but I did notice that as soon as I got promoted it started matching me against favored plat and diamond opponents almost immediately.
While the metric for match making and league placement is certainly an interesting topic that's not actually what I wanted to muse on today. This weekend, for the first time, I felt guilty for watching a tournament. I spent a large amount of time watching the Scan invitational. Who doesn't want to sit back and listen to dApallo and TLO cast a series of pretty good games?
The issue was that I felt like I should be using my relatively limited free time to ladder rather than enjoy the games from the tournament. Now, I have enough issues keeping track of a SC2 game and remembering to macro so playing and watching the tournament wasn't and option. As a compromise I only watched series that had a Terran in them as well as the finals and laddered when it was another match up.
My question to you each is what do you do in this situation. If I watched streams or tournaments every time they were on I would never have time to ladder but watching SC2 is one of the main reasons I enjoy this game. It's obviously just a question of time management but I'm interested if anyone has any interesting ways they do this.
That's all for this week.
Cheers.
