Well that's not the point, why the hell does it matter that they have nicer phones? You are probably the only one who thinks you are weird for not having a smartphone.

Ultimately, although they are convenient I don't see them to be worth the price, and most of the people that have them, like most of the people in high school, are vapid.

Apple treats their workers horribly overseas (china) Horrible working conditions. I like texting but First off, i like BUTTONS more than a Touch pad... wtf there are reasons that we have buttons. second, they cost a LOT third, they don't give you anything except instant attention gratification lol don't do it. iphones are a representation of the financial divide sweeping across america.

I find it sad too when I see people don't talk to each just because they're glued to their phone. I've even seen couples having dinner at a restaurant and not talking. Playing retarded games and checking their facebook comments instead. Seriously wtf ?!

For reference here is mine, but throw in used and abused look.. with a crack in the screen. I have picture messaging... but the phone is too ghetto to receive picture messaging. + Show Spoiler + Really tho.. ive never felt i needed a smart phone. I have a computer for the internet, the only thing that a smart phone would give me is the ability to look at TL more than i already do.... and have more games on my phone which isnt really necessary. Other than that its still just used for texting. Big deal? If i was working in a business that required me to check my e-mail for work related purposed at all hours of the day this would be different, but at the moment i have no actual need for one outside of distracting me with games and such.

I got myself an HTC Sensation XE 5 months ago, because my phone broke anyways (Nokia 2700, before that I had the best one ever: Nokia 3200~ ;_;). I wasn'n never really in need of a smartphone but got interested in it. So a few weeks ago I got tired of the touch screen input and bought a HTC Desire Z (which has a hw keyboard) and it was so worth it. I'm not on facebook or any "social network", so I mostly use it to surf when I'm bored and waiting for a train. XD And for everyone who knows it: Cyanogenmod ftw~!

Now seriously: I don't have it neither. But hey, what's wrong with that? I use my phone to call and text, maybe write down something quickly when I dont have a pen with me. And I am not gonna pay so much to be able to view facebook 24/7 lol. When iPhones will be able to make a hamburger whenever I want and for free then I will consider getting it.

You don't really need a smartphone, true. However, it's definitely awesome having one, and as long as you keep your discipline together, you won't become one of the billion phone zombies flinging little birds on their phones.

The message from this commercial is very clear, the more you use your phone, the less you see around you. (To a certain extent, it could also be applied to facebook). Ironically enough, this was done by a phone service provider company.

In terms of productivity, I don't see it making much of a difference. I bought myself a tablet after much consideration and with the help of TL as well, and I got to say its fun to have. But not productive, but it met my needs in terms of mobility when I'm commuting.

LOL Anyways I do not own a smart phone and hell I don't even have a cell phone. I really should get a pre-paid phone though for emergencies though, but besides emergencies I see no reason for myself to have a phone. I receive all my calls through Skype. I have a Skype assigned number for $60 a year.

My last cellphone contract expired a few months ago. Right now I have no phone/cellphone, been using Skype. I have never bought a smart phone or iPhone. Could never bring myself to follow trends to "fit in" and drop a huge sum of money for something that I would hardly use for it's intended purpose. That's right I'm a rebel >

What did I buy? A featurephone with no "smart" capabilities. As is the case for you, I'm either at the office with a computer, at home with a computer, at a friend's place with my laptop, or at a cafe with my laptop. Sometimes I don't have internet access, but most of the time I do. If I don't have internet access, I pull out a book. The worst that can happen if I don't check my email for 12 hours is that I miss a meal with someone. Not that big a deal, especially since most of my friends know that I don't have a smartphone so they'll often just text me. >HerebeDragons That's an awesome video, thanks!

Personally I hate them. There's nothing worse than walking into the common room at polytech and seeing 5 people staring at their iPhones not talking to each other. The same thing happens to people who get laptops. It's pretty pathetic.

i dont have access to a laptop at all times because my laptop is too bulky to carry around with me and a phone is quicker and faster for dealing with time sensitive stuff and on-campus computers are too slow, buggy, and randomly located (or full up) but most people not doing admin kind of stuff really dont need to shell out the cash for a smartphone and data plan, it's ridiculous how much useless shit people do with their phones when its really not necessary

I only use my phone to occasionally ring and text people, I don't want or need any more than that. I just use a good old reliable Samsung MP3 player to entertain me on the commute to work. I got a big sexy desktop for all my internet needs. Besides I'm sure those sorts of phones are heavily overpriced... especially the Apple ones.

But to suggest everyone get a laptop and learn to hide it.. at work..? lol what. Pretty silly.

Let's see, I own and love the iPhone because I can check/respond important e-mails on a timely manner such as change in meeting time or location, Facetime call with my family members far away whenever I want, organize schedule and be alerted as I want, use it as a GPS navigator, get instant update on weather with one button, watch CNN and ESPN videos as they come, check bank account whenever I want, get live updates on buses so I know when to go to the bus stop, find the restaurant I want whenever and wherever, and surf the web without carrying a laptop. Yea, you don't need a smartphone to get by. But it makes life much easier, and it serves a definite purpose apart from laptops. It's AWESOME.
