I'll be giving a TEDx talk on SC2 and ESPORTS at TEDxUCI today. The event begins at 1:00pm PST but I won't be on until later in the day. Fore reference, I'll be on after a video clip of an athletic runner. I've been waiting for a live stream link before I made a post, so here it is:
For those of you don't know, TEDx are TED events organized by local communities with the support of TED proper. TEDxUCI is being held at the University of California, Irvine campus and is organized by student leaders. TED talks are essentially people getting together to present new and cool ideas. If you haven't seen TED talks before, I highly suggest you check them out. Here's the sample reel:
I saw a call for auditions, and decided "why not" and was interviewed about what I would present. I gave a general overview of ESPORTS, SC2, and how it impacted my life. A week later, I got an email saying I would be speaking at the conference and I've been working on my talk for about a month. Hopefully I can do the community some justice, but I hope people pursue similar endeavors to spread their passion for ESPORTS to their local communities - as one 8 minute talk won't sum up what makes SC2 and ESPORTS worth paying attention to.
Wish me luck, I'm pretty nervous but excited.
HUGE thanks to everyone on TL who helped me with the ideas for content and what I should focus on.
Special thanks to the photographers who let me used their pictures: NeverGG itsjustatank GHOSTCLAW
I love TED for the way speakers are able to blend the most simple and advanced concepts of technology and apply them to the basic human condition. I hope you will live upto the reputation and not just "explain" sc2/esports to your audience.
Only thing I don't like about TED talks is when they get people up there saying they invented a cream you can rub on cancer tumors to make them go away...and that you can change your diet to cure your cancer...but I'm sure your talk will be great .
