I've been a long time lurker, but I've decided to become more active recently, so, I'm writing this blog to introduce myself...
Hello! I'm Steven "AxMDelta" and I've been playing sc2 for almost a year now. I started playing with very little rts experience. I did play starcraft vanilla and broodwar, but I never enjoyed the ladder, mainly because I was young and sucked ^^. So, coming into starcraft 2, I immediately started playing the ladder, initially I picked zerg as I've always thought they were pretty cool, as I didn't want to fall back into my custom game slump... And I went on to lose my first 50 games as I had no idea of the tech trees or any unit counters or really anything. I was pretty terrible, but I kept at it. I finally won my first game and it was one of the most addictive feelings ever.
A short time after this, I discovered the day[9] daily and started to improve my play greatly by having build orders and knowledge of things such as timings and how your economy should be. I came into the first season bronze losing my first 50 games, and finished that season gold ranked 1 with about 1100 points. The next season which came around, I was placed in Diamond and I was ecstatic.
I continued to play and practice and strove for masters! I played and played and ground out games, sometimes 60 a day, until finally, I saw that amazing promotion screen. I had finally made it into masters. I was so happy I didn't really know what to do though. So, I continued to play. My ZvT was never strong, but I was always good at ZvP. But my most frustrating match up has always been ZvZ because it is so fragile and can go either way with one baneling hit. I continued to play and due to my competitive nature, began to become very frustrated with ZvZ. I eventually tilted - falling from rank 26 masters to about rank 50ish. It was then that I realized how seriously I was taking the game.
On that day, I decided that I would play the game for fun and no longer in the stressful way I had been playing recently. I decided to switch to protoss just to see how it was, but, as I went on to lose my first 25 games because I had no real clue what I was doing, I decided to switch to random and just stick with it. The next season rolled around and I was demoted to diamond...
This demotion fueled my desire to improve and I began to play like I used to in previous seasons when I was lower level. I love learning new match ups and trying to improve my mechanics and play with each race. With random, I get to learn 9 match ups, and learn them I love. I eventually made it back into masters, where I am currently, and loving it. My terran was always my worst race, but recently, it has seemed to click. My TvZ has gotten better and I won my first real TvT today.
This is pretty much where I come from and my experience so far. Basically, I just wanted to introduce myself to TL and hope to make some friends here!
Thanks for reading :D you're the best!
