This is the nomination phase. Please, don't spurt out the first thing that comes to mind. I want to know what is possibly the most american movie, ever.
Clearly the end game is a decision on what movie a person should be watching on this, our Independence Day.
I'm going to withhold my opinion for now, and just see where it takes us. Feel free to defend your choice. Do your American Duty, and make your opinion be heard. Thanks for helping out!
I would put Top Gun in the running since they prevail over the commie MiGs. Also they have that cute behind the back high-five in the beach volleyball scene.
Some good contenders here. I'll throw out some nominations that have done their best to spread the American Spirit across the globe and teach others about our wonderful, rich culture.
Lesson #1: Don't fuck with America or "Americans":
Lesson #2: Don't be Russian
Lesson #3: American Presidents are not only the best Americans, but essentially super heroes.
In this case, I'm going to go with Platoon, because it showed, to an accurate (I believe) level, of the shitstorm that American soldiers went through in Vietnam. And that was quite the shitstorm.
I'll explain anyways. Mel gibson spends the movie shooting rifle rounds into the whites of those redcoat eyes. When he's not doing that he's probably being even more patriotic by murdering more brits with a fucking TOMAHAWK to save AMERICA
Im outside on my balcony in DC, clearly the most american place, watching a killer lightning storm. the rain is subsiding, there hasnt been any thunder to speak of, and there are like enormous flashes of lightning across the sky that look like spider webs. it is phenomenal.

This one's definitely a good fit.
That said, if you really want to celebrate Independence Day, watch La Fayette and remember that without the French, the War of Independence might have gone very differently.
Its a really sad movie that gets quoted only for its comedy scenes which are opposite from funny once you done watching. This mistake is mainly made by youtube warriors.
I got a Q - why are the most "american" movies done by immigrant bodybuilders? I think something like Police Academy captures the spirit a lot better.
On a serious note - Pulp Fiction. This is the most distinct pure american movie I have ever seen.

I BET YOU COULD SUCK A GOLF BALL THROUGH A GARDEN HOSE ONLY STEERS AND QUEERS COME FROM TEXAS, AND YOU DONT MUCH LOOK LIKE A STEER TO ME.
This post is true american by the way, for reasons stated above.
My vote goes to Forrest Gump. And you could make a case for Casablanca (it takes place in Morocco, but the anti-Nazi sentiment and classic 40s American feel more than make up for that). Maybe a Western like High Noon.
Oh, I'm going to add a suggestion for Air Force One. There's nothing more American than wanting to see your president take out a cadre of terrorists in hand-to-hand combat.
Have to go with Indepence day as well: 1) the whole godammn world is suppose to celebrate a event that only relates to one freaking country. (relating to what the president says before they do the assault on the aliens today is the day when every country will celebrate.." etc etc 2) Check the goodamn title of the movie lol.
3) the fucking dog survives, why the hell does all the animals always live while thousands of people around them die.
Any movie where a badass American beats the shit out of terrorists and single-handedly saves the day. Good examples are Rambo, Air Force One, Die Hard, etc.
