Even though it'd be really cool if this turned out to be a success, I just don't think it will be. I think the chances of it not being a massive flop is A LOT lower than 1%.

I hope the best for this game but I dont expect anything great.

Too bad it's online, I just hope they won't fail, or if they do, at least to keep developing single player tes games, because nothing can replace that feeling.
No mods is also a big reason I'm not exactly excited about this. There are always so many issues with tes games that can be fixed with mods, and now we won't be able to

Personally I dont like the "just a very limited number of spells" way of MMOs for the simple reasons that you cant have support or fancy spells in such a setup. No levitate to jump off a cliff, no water walking, no water breathing (GW2's solution with a permanent "aquabreather" is terrible IMO), no teleportation spells and so on. Being limited to just a few slots also means there wont be any consumables OR they solve that "problem" like it worked in Skyrim, but in an MMO you cant hit the pause button, so there cant be that multitude of potions in the game ... which is terrible.
The whole "left and right mouse button" system stinks of too much console, but I hope they realize that you cant have that for an MMO and keep consumables in the game. Without consumables an MMO is terrible and Skyrims system basically reqiures the existence of three types of potions at least.
I really hope they keep the mounts from Skyrim without the fast traveling, because "teleporting" everywhere disconnects you from the land.

I feel the other way, I'd rather they went super light on the magic and did something different. I hate the traditional MMO model of tank, healer caster, but TES games have always suffered from magic > ranged > melee (a little less with skrim but its still the case that a casted elemental often does the same damage as an enchanted weapon/staff and doesn't need recharging). A more LOTR (book) style application of magic that enhances the others with buffs rather than sits behind them and nuking everything as some kind of super artillery would really work for me. They'd have to sort out that melee model though. Sadly it ain't what the kids want. They want big magic fireballs.

Couldn't agree more on fast travel. Much better if it was such that convoys would form to get groups safely thorough the wilderness from city to another. Makes the world big and scary.

The art shown during the slides in the video, with the exception of those taken directly from Skyrim, REALLY sucks, I fucking hate cartoonish shit like that.
This game doesn't deserve to be called TES, the art itself already fucks everything.

But then please tone down the quests where you have to go from one end of the country to the other and back and forth and back and forth and back. Btw how would you guys handle 'camping' so letting the time pass by quickly? In an MMO that shouldn't be an option, but it's a necessity in skyrim, because otherwise you'd have to wait 8minutes for an NPC doing nothing. Or quest people who walk from one city to another. You'd have to wait for them to actually walk there. That would mean, you'd have to wait 50 reallife minutes :D

Haha OP perfectly described how I feel about this game. I'll get it because it's sure to be gorgeous. And I totally agree with removing fast travel, that would be awesome. Maybe just Morrowind style, where you can go to cities, but quests take you far away from the nearest hubs.
Can't wait to see more in any case

Hmm, I want to believe indeed but I won't until people reach max level and see how the endgame holds up.

I want too believe aswell, it just looks absolutely amazing. Anyway, does anyone know a good MMO for someone who has never played an MMO before? I'm thinking about getting GW2, is it good?

I wanted to believe as well. Believed in GW2 for years. I'm never making that mistake again - from now on I'm not buying a single game unless I try the gameplay out for myself first. For all of GW2's hype, it didn't manage to hold my interest for longer than 2 weeks when it came to gameplay.
I am looking forward to seeing more of TESO in the future - I just hope that they make an open beta before release.

Why was GW2 so dissapointing? I haven't seen anything of it yet..

I don't want to rant about GW2 in a TESO blog... but for me it was just a complete absence of anything that would compel me to keep playing the game. Once you explore the world (which is already extremely repetitive) your options are terrible dungeons, the zerg-fest known as WvWvW, structured PvP - all of them feel extremely grindy and unsatisfying. I basically spent $80 on an MMO that I played for less than two weeks and even that is generous, since I spent most of that time trying to find some facet of the game that I'd actually enjoy.
