Just watched it, clearly not in the style of the other LOTR movie but i appreciate the fact that they try to use CGI less, and where the dialogue and battles were lacking the personality and character development kept me watching. Didn't want to give in to the hype but damn it, it's a very good movie, those guys really outdid themselves this time .Spoiler if you haven't watched it . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . ..

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The narrator and the dance scene at the end kinda made it seem pointed at a slightly younger audience than the first movie, or at least trying to cater to that audience a bit more, but hey, still a great movie.
Huh, never heard of that animated movie. I have to check it out some time. Never made it to Germany I suppose, Tolkien wasn't big over here until the Peter Jackson movies.
The old school animated movie was great. I had the Record and book combo. With the ogre songs and everything!! So great. Sad to say I sold it a few years back for a pretty penny.
Gotta say while it has the LOTR sound, it lacks strong new themes except maybe for the Misty Mountains song, but the old LOTR themes are as powerful as ever. Maybe because the LOTR themes grew on me, IDK... Anyway the true soundtrack is the one that pairs with the movie, and I still have high expectations.
