France is full of Bed and Breakfast, they should be ok with your budget. So Bed and Breakfast (but often they dont speak english) for 40 euro, it wont be shitty, more like a normal room with a bed for two usually rented by people who have just one or two rooms... Usually friendly people. Eating out in France also can be quiet good quality/price but you'll need local intelligence. Yeah, you'll do just fine with your budget. Tourist attraction are not very costly, so you can enjoy the food. And some day, just buy some good break, cheese, ham and enjoy wine for less than 10€... That will cut the costs also fast.

Also if you're planning on staying for a long time in Paris, be aware that life there is much more expensive than outside of Paris, as prices can be 75% higher in Paris, when compared to your average French city. My main advice is : no matter how smelly and disgustingly looking is the cheese, try it, it often comes as a good surprise. And if you stumble upon Mont d'Or somewhere (it's a cheese aswell) buy some P.S. PM me if you come to brittany, i'll show you round and we could go to some nice places

You can't expect it to be that great but it should be good enough so that you don't have to worry about it. I would avoid one star hotels.
