"Time is going to pass regardless of whether you're spending the time productively or procrastinating and pissing the time away so may as well make the most of it."
So it's my time to live what I preach and be a little different... starting with a $5,000 bet that if I fail, I will donate $5, 000 to a charity of my choice (Kiva).
I'm making it public that for the next 100 days, I'll be going to the gym 6 out of the 7 days each week.
On top of this I'll be doing a ton of personal development habit changes which I'll add to the bet as time goes by but I thought that seeing some physical changes would be a great starting point.
So here is my day 1. Wish me luck and why not consider joining me? Message me if you're keen to finally make a positive step towards making your life kickass.
Or... stay quiet if you're too scared and happy being average
If you wish to join me great! Comment below.
I'm going to make either a private facebook page or a subreddit so you can share your story, your pictures and we can all help and support each other... but for now show your support and jump on my facebook page and give me a cheeky like and a cheer Cheers!

I bet you don't want to see my day 1

mmhh 6days week sounds overkill. also i hate doing stuff "forced" so i wont join. but its def about time to start again, been lazy since christmas ;P
you have program/nutrition planned out?
|
Been goin to the gym 5-7 days a week since i started college last september and it has been great. Also I spent 6 weeks over the summer canoeing in the arctic. Being active kicks ass.

Unless you have a massive split, you will burn yourself out or injure yourself on that schedule.
|
I've found after a couple of months of solid workouts I get over the incredibly vain expectations of body building. However I do not like it when I put on weight, which tends to happen when I don't exercise regularly, regardless of what I eat. The solution, a recreational sport.
Shit blog, have fun being another person who chooses to spend most of his free time lifting heavy things, to impress other people......
Also spend 5 fucking minutes looking up the most basic exercise routines recommended by professionals. You will notice they all share one thing, YOU WILL MAKE FUCK ALL GAINS IF YOU EXERCISE every day. Sleep and rest are just as an important part of the bulk up process as lifting.

Your other arm looks surprisingly small by comparison.
+ Show Spoiler + good luck

I'll be going to the gym 6 out of the 7 days each week.
don't do this, there's literally no point in going to the gym 6 days a week. Make a good plan and a schedule and there's nothing you can't accomplish within 3-4 days of going to the gym, your body will get the rest it needs and you won't be risking injury, especially now that you are just starting. If you want to "stay active" than just take on a sport or something
Or... stay quiet if you're too scared and happy being average you also might want to look in on how not to be an asshole on that off day you got
|
How is spending that much time in the gym going to make your life kickass?
PS. you look like a buff little Tasteless.
|
don't donate 5,000$ to charity..donate it to a sc2 tournament!
|
100 days isnt much, I've been going to the gym 6 days a week for about 8 months, you gotta enjoy going man don't force yourself or youre bound to fail. Just set strength goals and work towards them and you should be fine. Gl op
Also damn wish I had 5k to just throw around haha

Every other day is much better than every day. Unless you've been training for many years already, and even then, what you do is train different muscle groups each day, not a full workout; and vary the difficulty between days so some of them are actually "rest". Oh yeah, also psychologically it's more beneficial to go slow and keep up for a long long time, than go really fast and only for a short period of your life. The results in the second case won't be as good.

I wish I could be that vain.
|
6 out of 7 days a week? For 100 days? Either I missed you at the last Olympics, or you just can't bear to wait until you're 80 to be wheelchair-bound.

Well...as much as I wish you good luck, I have to say that most gym trainers really recommend against doing this sort of thing because its really easy to burnout and give up. Its much more effective to exercise a little bit every other day or so, and gradually you'll see improvements (and it really doesn't take that long to notice that you can lift much more than before!). That's what I did over the summer and it worked great. Lost weight, got stronger arms/legs/abs, not superman, but definitely lost the majority of the excess "subway" fat I got at university . Only thing that's annoying is the last few pounds, but oh well. I'm back to an acceptable state . Oh yeah, and also I just remembered to only eat when I was hungry and eat slower, so that I never overate.
And happily its largely stayed off since then. This upcoming summer I'll probably get back to it and keep improving. You just have to be careful with these dares; you might want to believe that you can do it, but whether you really can and whether your mind is ready, is another thing. But anyway since $5000 is on the line maybe you'll stick to the routine!

I'm assuming Steven is planning on going to the gym to look pretty, but I go to lift heavy ass weights so I can lift even heavier weights.
Now, I don't do the exact routine that I linked, but going 6 days a week lets me hit each exercise 2-3 times a week. I can't imagine making anywhere close to the same strength gains on 3 days a week.
And if you think that the amount of training gym go-ers have to do is disgusting, wait until you find out how much they eat...
And sure, that sentence came off assholish but that might be because of who is delivering the sentence.

People never seem to mind when it comes from a famous guy.

How about Rippetoe's starting strength program? Or 5x5? Both have incredible strength gains for those who do them and are only 3 times a week. You do realize that muscle is built while resting? 6 days of lifting a week does not provide enough of a break. To make things even worse, as a beginner your body is not used to lifting frequently. Want a quick way to burn out, injure yourself and make mediocre gains as a beginner? Go to the gym and lift 6 days a week.

Posts about improving his life...gets shit from everyone.
even if its for vanity reasons..who gives a shit.
Doesnt look like he is "beginning" as a lot of people here are suggesting, noone has ever randomly woken up with arms like this guy has, without having done some exercising/lifting previously.
Also he says go to the gym and do some sort of work out 6 days a week.
doing 3 of lifting, 3 of stretching/cardio (even something as simple as walking on a treadmill for 20 minutes) would still constitute one day of doing something physical/healthy
And if you dont like the fact that he is doing it for attention, with the whole FB thing, then just focus on the positive aspect of "he is trying to make his life better" and why should you be frustrated about that?
bah. The internet is so cynical its depressing =/
by all means you can be upset about stuff.. if you are upset about the fact that he is simply promoting himself for attention, fine be upset about that.. but some of the comments so far are just incredibly callous/mean and i dont understand why
