Despite having this semi-newfangled thing called a work life and obligations, I was able to make it out ot UC Irvine for a little bit this past weekend in order to attend SoCal Regionals 2014 on its final day.
This year's event was the largest that SoCal Regionals has ever been. The event spanned over four days in total and there were tournaments for a large number of game titles. The typical favorites such as Marvel and Street Fighter made their appearance, but they were also accompanied by a supporting cast of other titles such as Super Smash Bros. Melee and Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme vs. Full Boost. The sight of Universal Century units fighting against inferior Cosmic Era trash suits to the sounds of Victory Gundam music was quite spellbinding.
It's taken a while to edit and publish these photos because of the aforementioned obligations. I hope you enjoy this slice of the fighting game life.
PS: #FGC, please don't let sidebets die. Keep the flame alive!
Wish I could've made it out there, but was sadly busy that weekend and the rain was nuts. SoCal residents know that these fools can't drive in drizzle, much less heavy rain. Thanks for the pics.
What was your favorite moment from SCR? Snake Eyez against Norcal? InfiltraChun against Wao and KBrad? My personal pick was Snake Eyez, but that was before you got there unfortunately.

I haven't been able to stop watching it for long. Was it the most memorable reverse OCV (reverse all-kill) that you'd seen? Because this is Team Liquid, we can obviously talk StarCraft too - for example, MarineKing, Hyun, Symbol and Jaedong (I'm going to Liquipedia to try and dig names up of people who have done this.)
unfortunately, because of dumb tournament design, he was forced to try to do it again in a second best of nine and it didnt end up working out for team liquid
Ah, okay. Thanks for straightening me out - I only got into watching StarCraft this past year. So basically, TaeJa did, erm...a Justin Wong vs. Filipino Champ at Canada Cup (won the set with a comeback but lost the match)...? That stinks.

Two Bo7 or bo9 series. Taeja carried liquid. hard. Via a series of comebacks, terrible stream management, an occasional blackout on the big screen during major teamfights, some stupidly good engagements.
He won the first series but couldon't finish off the second one.
I ran into sheth near the restrooms and somebody asked him how. He just responded with a "I don't know man, I don't know... Taeja..." Including stuff like this:
