Hi all,
Lately i started 1v1 laddering again after a long time so after a few dozen games i landed on mid diamond, which is obviously not much but still was a lot of fun with some great games (in terms of competition). What i immediately noticed was that on average the manner of my opponents was suprisignly good, much higher than a couple of years ago. So after a while i decided to give team games (2vs2) a try only to be shocked at the sheer amount of BM! At first i ignored the signs but after just 30 or so games it was obvious that for some reason players in team games tend to be really BM to both their teammates and their opponents! Specifically i have had many teammates who have left the game way too early, have put the blame on me for loosing (like half the times), have endlessly bitched about my play during the game and of course are waiting for the game to turn in our favor to start BMing the opponents. The funny thing is that all these guys are 90% of the time not ranked in 1v1 and have always refused to 1v1 after they BM me (and i always challenge them). I have even had a teammate who said after we won that "you are very low..." even though i never said anything to him during the game in which he sat back and waited for ever to attack trashing my timings, when challenged he said "no, i have already wasted too much time with you". I mean you have to have some serious issues to trash talk your teammate after you have won without been provoked. Anyway, i am just wondering is it just me or is this the sorry state of team games on bnet at the moment, what's your experience?

that sounds like every game i've ever played that involves teaming up with random people lol

Ok, but i still can't understand the whole bitterness that's oozing out of this. And ffs, if someone doesn't want to depend upon a random player on bnet why the fuck doesn't he/she play 1v1? I ll tell you why though, so they can blame the teammate for the losses. However that doesn't explain the BM on the opponents which is a lot higher as well

Yeah, I don't play with randoms, because everyone has a gigantic e-penis. I only play with my friends.

but 1v1 ladder, which is random too is mostly fine. wtf?

I wouldn't either, why waste my time with you. Why are you even challenging them, to prove something? Even if you won 1v1 that wouldn't prove anything. It wouldn't change the fact that they may be better 2v2 players. Or even if they are worse 2v2 players, that wouldn't change the fact that in that particular game you may be the reason why your team lost. I can smurf to some silver, royally f*up every team game and then beat them in a 1v1 challenge for reductio ad absurdum.
Now that's a relatively minor point in this context, I brought it up just because I have a real allergy for such silly challenges in every game. What you said is very true, BM is more widespread than it is in youth detention centers, and to play with such people is not my idea of fun. So I only play StarCraft 2 with real life friends, most of the time against other real life friends.

I really think it's as you stated earlier, people who play team games are able to blame other people for their losses. The number of times my friend and I have won games, and the opposing team whine about each other is ridiculously high. 1v1 takes away any sort of excuse, and makes people admit that their loss is their own fault.

You answered yourself. Play 1v1 Ladder, play teams with a friend. Problem solved, feel free to paypal me.

seriously, who cares about BM anymore.

It's sad but true. I see it a lot as well.

You must be new here.
1v1 loss is the fault of noob opponent cheesing, rushing, getting lucky, their race being OP or combination thereof

but if you insult someone during a game, you automatically invoke CHALLENGER MODE. this is why only games where you can actually play 1 on 1 to determine who is the better player (and in every RTS game, that's how you determine it) are actually competitive, because in every other game, you can blame someone else for your shortcomings.

this happens to anything that involves teams on the internet. if u get frustrated enough that you have to create a thread on teamliquid, then the problem might be on your side as well. i dont understand why some players play sc2 for the team games anyway, i play it only for the 1v1.

I have completely other experience in teamgames, extremely positive one. I really enjoy bm/trash talk about units.

hey i can still call people maphackers

Who asks such a bm question?
"Anyway, i am just wondering is it just me or is this the sorry state of team games on bnet at the moment?" Either answer is very negative. Its like listening to fox news.
I actually feel the opposite. I think that neither is actually the truth. The underlying assumption is that its either your fault or their fault. The reality is that you have poor communication with your teammates, and low flexability in your play, and this is why you feel this way. You need to make sure your builds compliment each other.

I can also ask them to apologize for playing that race. Unless it's the same race as me, and then I can just call it imba.

actually, accusing people of maphacking during a game means you have been absolutely destroyed. Either because you're wrong, and accusing someone of cheating after they beat you means they must have destroyed you in a way that was incomprehensible to you, or because you allowed a cheater to make you upset enough to make you throw wild accusations that you actually have no way of knowing whether are accurate.

yeah but then they ignore you after they tell you to kill yourself and that you've been reported

Random team games that require any sort of cooperation and have a chat option are like this - it's not just StarCraft 2. The amount of team blaming and BM that goes on in Dota 2 is incredible.. just think SC2 but with everyone yelling at the top of their lungs through the mic.
I never play 2v2, 3v3, or 4,4 unless I'm playing only with friends. At least that limits the amount of BM between you and your allies. People on the other team will still BM you but there's nothing you can do about that.
Happens in Counter Strike, happens in every game really. Sore losers are sore.
