No New Polaris Rhapsody, no good map pool. It is that easy.
Okay, for real: You can like or dont like the maps ( i dont like em ), but still it is the off season. No player is forced to play on these maps, you can host 100 custom games if you want with the maps you like and you feel they are balanced.
If Blizz made a large Map Making Contest with 7 Winners for a new Map pool, that would have been community involved style. Old maps are old maps because they had no use anymore. New maps, we need new maps build by fresh map making faces with innovations and "special tactics"

The game has become incredibly predictable, both in terms of strategies used and players who will inevitably end up in the ro8. Tournament viewership has gone down the drain compared to last year too. I don't blame blizzard for trying to shake things up a bit.
This is exactly why I stopped playing SC2. I don't want to play the same exact game over and over.
But this map change won't solve that.

I cannot tell what is most funny in this thread, sadly... these long posts though.. man.. haha >.>

Looks like someone read my post in the season 4 map pool and that Blizzard is planning something big with it. I think too that they want to bring some other changes too not just the map pool before LotV comes out. Maybe we get a reveal at Blizzcon. Alot of players jumped off cause they expected some more from HotS. Im sure they want to get that players back or get new ones. Heres the link to it if you wanna know a bit more: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/starcraft-2/467779-season-4-ladder-map-pool-voting-begins?page=51#1012

In one hand you have people complaining about how imba the maps are going to be (which is yet to be prooven btw, it's not like 2014 S1 had a better balanced map pool...) and in the other hand people are ranting cause steppes is not in the map pool.
Well guess what? WE voted for these. Blizzard let us took control, WE choosed : metalo, xel'naga, CK, Akilon, Ohana daybreak and shakura. that's it, end of the story.
It's a short season, just play and have fun, cause guess what? it'll be fun if you decide to make it fun.
When things start to matter again, in S1 2015, we'll a new map pool and this will need to be balanced - and hopefully it will.
Until then just play, try to enjoy it and you might even have good surprises...

I think we are taking a game we play for fun.... A bit to seriously

Honestly the best way to improve isnt ladder, but practice games against the same player. When i was in competitive clans usually the best person was the one with the least ladder games cause he played a shit ton of focused practice matches.

I agree that things have become really predictable as far as the auto 3 base meta goes. I think that is largely a combination of map making/inclusion trends, and also the MSC. I'd definitely like for that circumstance to be addressed, even just a little, for the long-term.
