Sadly I couldn't connect to the characters and thus the most important part (for me) of any medium was lost. 8/10, carried by visuals. 7/10 is worth watching on my personal scale. I would say that there is one great anime and 10 or so worth watching each year. Out of ~300. So the problem is finding the good ones. (First 200 or so anime were all good, then it was repeating a bit too much. After 800 series/movies/ova I have become a bit picky.) I find it sad that most great visual anime are in movies. A medium I dislike a lot due to the episode length. I always want a break after 45 minutes, which is a third of a modern movie.

Yeah, I'm not keen on watching a movie because after an hour or so; I just want to stop. Which piano piece didn't feel right?

Around 1:05 when the height of the notes changes. It is so jarring for me. Around 1:48 when the notes are moving over the spectrum. Sounds like the pianist just misses a note in there. Probably is how they wanted it but I dislike it a lot. That entire piece is one I don't like (has a few short passages I like) though those two points stick out. Probably too strong contrasts or however you express that in music terms.

Makoto Shinkai intentionally directed the film to fit in with the music and not the opposite (I believe)
