Hey guys, I haven't written here in a while but I still follow SC2 with interest and had a great time watching Blizzcon. Right now I'm a full time poker player and I've been doing well recently. I am a completely different person since I used to post here everyday, I became more positive and overall less judgemental and loving life a lot at the moment :D Had some of the best years of my life and becoming more aware and responsible as time goes on is a great thing.
Anyway I got really interested into LotV because I really like what Blizzard is doing with this game. Can't say anything for certain right now but I think this is the direction SC2 needed to go from the start. After criticizing SC2 a lot for several reasons when I was a progamer I am also ready to say that right now I really appreciate how Blizzard is working with this game.
I mostly had a great time as a progamer but I'm not trying to make this game my profession again. I am enjoying what poker is giving me and I will keep it as my full time job. At the same time I think there's room to practice, become good again at Starcraft and do stuff and visit tournaments without the need of having a team to back up any of my financial needs. I think it will be great to have the freedom to play this game as I did with BroodWar and most importantly the game right now feels way more rewarding than it was in Wings of Liberty. I have been playing and studying poker mostly for more than 80 hours per week in the past year and taking some of that time to go back to Starcraft a bit can definitely be beneficial and entertaining.
It would be really cool to go to some tournaments again, that's something I am definitely planning to do on my own in the future. I met lot of great people when I was active and now that the game is better there's no reason to stay away from it. I will probably look for some coaching to catch up a bit (dunno from whom though, was gonna ask Morrow but he switched to protoss - valid suggestions are appreciated) and aim to reach GM in ladder. I don't think this will happen within the next 2 months but with enough consistency it's can be possible in not too long.
I hope the people I knew who are still playing are doing well. Right now I'm super busy (otherwise I would have gone to visit Take for LotV launch) but I am planning to meet again some of them next year when I can take some days off poker and I am so looking forward to that :D

Sick. Great to hear you had some success in poker. That game isn't what it's used to be when I played back in 2007

Been a fan since BW, I believe I remember you playing in ascension tourney as inF.ClouD before joining ToT). But after everything I remember you for in BW and SC2, this blog is that I remember most about you LOL TT Good luck yo

Thanks for the welcome boys! Love seeing some of you still here after such a long time
I'm going to play protoss and a-move adepts shamelessly into victory
Jk not sure if protoss or terran. Most likely terran because marine micro has always been one of the coolest things to do in sc2, but protoss and zerg both look so much better and demanding than in WoL. It's just so likeable that they developed a faster game, more units based on splitting players' attention and harass and more expansions. All of this goes in a direction where they make the game more entertaining to watch and rewarding to play regardless of balance.
I think the strategic component should always be very relevant in RTS but the mechanical aspect was too different for each race in WoL and HotS causing very different learning curves. LotV brings all the races closer in the mechanical regard and it's also more demanding, which I think is extremely positive both for playing and for watching the game..

Goody vs cloud, some more of that please.

Gl with everything! I said hi to you in AdrianFenix's twitch stream but you ignored me.
|
Sorry mate, I didn't want to ignore you but it's his stream and I think it wouldn't be polite to speak about anything unrelated to poker in his chat
|
Glad to have you back ClouD! One of my favorite players since BW!

Can't wait to see you in action again. Please stream some matches.

It's cool that former players (and especially pros) are coming back for LotV! I too stopped after WoL, I played terran as well at a decentish amateur level so even though I didn't have the pressure of being a pro, I still had to play frustrating match-ups (TvZ at the broodlord infestor era, TvP felt like battling against the clock, TvT could be cool but sometimes very boring vs campy mech players) so it was hard to keep a positive and productive mindset. I think the game has quite some potential and it's the final extension so I'm eager to play again, with a better mindset this time, so I share some feelings. Since you won't be playing full time it will be easier to keep that positive mindset, plus you'll be playing for the game and won't need to rely on it for your income, I think you'll enjoy it much more than on WoL and could still find some success despite playing less . Gl hf!

Nice. i hope you come to a homestory cup again. :D i remember that once i was pretty drunk at the homestory cup 7 or 8 and met you and targa at the bar. i don´t remember to much but it was a nice talk. And good to here that you lost a little bit of your anger mentality.
edit: especially nice because i belive that we need more community figures from europe and america again.

Gonna stream the games of sc2 you manage to play?
Probably will be at a terrible time for me, but I always liked watching you in the past when it was possible
|
where do you live nowadays cloud, you left germany when you stopped playing right? would really love to see you at something like homestory cup
|
You don't have to say this if you don't want to but what are you playing? I see you don't have an hendonmob, so I'm guessing cash games, online? Casino?
|
Can't stream boys sorry, internet in Italy doesn't allow it, upload is too low. I live in Italy atm but moving to Malta/USA and possibly Asia later next year.
I play NL100 zoom cash game atm. Went up to 200 but my WR at NL100 is too much better compared to 200 so I will go back there in a bit when I'm better. I also go to casino sometimes for variety but playing online brings more value imo.
