Im traveling full time since 2014 and usually update my blog with written reports and videos. Now I am in the unfortunate situation of having a broken Laptop screen, forcing me to use Instagram for the time being.
Since most people are interested in pictures, I wanted to start to share them here as well. Below are a bunch of my recent shots and if you like, I am happy to post updates
Sitting between the #atlantic and #indian #ocean at #cape #agulhas near #capetown in #southafrica. It's actually the most southern point of #africa.
34)
The first #shipwreck we came across in #southafrica. This one is moving around all the time, we could see it from the more interesting back side. It's at #suiderstrand near #cape #agulhas, not to far from the #gardenroute
Watching the #sunrise at #hermanus, one of the best #whale watching spots in #southafrica! Sadly we were there out of season and didn't see any in the #ocean. Next stop: #gardenroute!
Starting the #hike to the #robberg #nature reserve on the #gardenroute in #southafrica. There is actually a #shipwreck close to the #beach, only visible during low tide.
My first #bungee jump finally! At some point I'll have the video up too it's one of the highest bridges to jump from at 216m - #southafrica #gardenroute #bloukrans #bridge
Say hi to chuck, one of the #lion brothers at the #cheetah reserve in #southafrica near the #gardenroute. A picture from Norris will come up next #wildlife #safari #africa
We obviously came very close to a #cheetah on the #danielcheetahproject. Sadly we were not able to touch him. #africa #wildlife #southafrica #safari #bigcat #gardenroute
Finally reaching the #valleyofdesolation in #southafrica near the #gardenroute. We made in just in time for the sunset #africa #adventure #travel #hiking
This place was is awesome, so glad we made the detour from the #gardenroute! #valleyofdesolation #graffreinet #southafrica #nature #sunset #adventure #travel #africa #rocks
Glorious last #sunset on our way back from the #valleyofdesolation towards #capetown, leaving the #gardenroute behind us. #travel #adventure #africa #moments #nature #light
The starting day of the big #roadtrip through #namibia, #botswana and #zimbabwe, #wildcamping at a great spot just before crossing borders. #adventure #travel #africa #southafrica #boulders #rocks
Pretty cool first stop in #namibia on the way to #luderitz: the #canyonroadhouse, really tasty food here too and worth stopping by even just to check out everything there is to see in and outside the place! #adventure #roadtrip #travel #africa
Entering the #ghosttown of #kolmanskop near #luderitz in #namibia. Pretty spooky to walk through the #sand filled rooms of the old #German #mining #village.. #africa #travel #roadtrip #couchsurfing
We arrive after a short but strenuous #hike through the #sand, you can spot the dead #tree of #deadvlei in the distance! #sossusvlei #namibia #travel #adventure #africa #couchsurfing #desert
Loving the #shadows casted by the setting #sun and the dead #trees in #sossusvlei! #deadvlei #africa #namibia #desert #adventure #couchsurfing #travel #roadtrip
Back in #southafrica, I was about to explore the #drakensberg #mountains with a first stop at #highmoor #nature reserve. This is the view from our lodge at the #lake.
Well, here you would be looking at the second highest #waterfall in the world after #angelfalls in #venezuela... Sadly the #tugela falls were completely dry when I visited in June.
Creedy squirrel during one of my breaks on the wonderland trail around Mr rainier it's actually a nice German word to learn too if you are bored, Google it up: Eichhörnchen.
Enjoying the close up view on mt rainier at the second Burroughs viewpoint. Lots of people do day hikes to reach it while I included it to my wonderland hike itinerary.
I also just created a newsletter for my blog, featuring all updates outside of the Instagram world such as travel reports, my favorite collection of Weekly Pictures and also live video updates from my current locations. I am catching up with those and will start uploading the first ones from my recent sailing trip through the Caribbean (November 2016)!
Bryce National Park has been one of my favorites in the states, such an surreal landscape in there! Next time I'll come you can find me down there in the maze!
I also had a brief visit to canyonlands national park in utah and although I wasnt the biggest fan on the park in general, I really liked this specific view here. Maybe I was just getting fed up by all the parks
The great sand dunes national park in Colorado, pretty awesome to have a tiny dessert right next to a big mountain range! The blowing sand gets stopped from the peaks and then piles up into the dunes in front of them. We slept a night in the tent on the dunes
My last park in the states: the garden of the gods near Denver. Picture taking from the visitor center, which was certainly the nicest of them all I have seen on this trip, it even smelled rally good in there haha.
The water at Bahia De las Aguilas is truly amazing. Not only is it crystal clear, but it also felt really comfortable swimming in it. Takes a bit of effort to get there, especially when hitch hiking, but it is totally worth it!
The famous Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, pretty impressive structure! Also really the only thing I checked out in the city, not too much more to see there for me as a more nature oriented person.
Some dark clouds coming up on the perhentian islands, making for a great atmosphere to take a picture of the actually pretty nice and only mosque on the island.
One of many great viewpoints in Thailand's climbing Mecca Railay (Rei Leh). This one is looking down to the eastern Beach, just on the way to princess lagoon.
God Bless, that looks absolutely gorgeous. I'm incredibly envious of you. One day I dream of just taking off and just travelling around the world like im on some kind of JRPG adventure.
My last picture from Thailand already, a complete empty Phra Nang beach in the morning after camping there the night before. The first peeps to come in were some monkeys trying to steal my stuff!
Looking down from the Pagoda on top of Mount Zwegabin in Myanmar's Hpa-an region offers some incredible views into the wide landscape below. It was possible for tourists to sleep on top with the monks until a French backpacker committed suicide a few months ago. Luckily, they made an exception for me and I could enjoy the sunrise in the morning as well!
It is incredible to witness the fishing techniques on inle lake in Myanmar. Keeping balance on a long thin boat with just one leg while stearing it with the other while fishing at the same time... Wow!
Another sunrise at Bagan in Myanmar. Every single time I had to get out of bed extra early because I was hitch hiking into the temple area and every time it was worth the effort!
Just one of many caves in Laos: Tham Poukham near the backpackers hub Vang Vieng. This one is fairly small but if you have the right equipment you can venture into the dark parts. I didn't go there but still had a great time wandering around and capturing the incoming light from the entrance!
The stunning rock formation seen from the main bridge in the tiny village of Pha Tang. This was actually one of my favorite places in terms of landscapes in Laos!
Kuang Si Waterfall near Luang Prabang in Laos. I came here with high expectations and was not let down, truly a great piece of nature and worth the effort. Just don't take the horse if you don't mind wading through a river to get there.
The Ha Long Bay is probably the most iconic landmark of Vietnam. Despite not being so lucky with the weather, it was still breathtaking to pass all these majestic peaks rising out of the water. This picture was taken just after departure of the public ferry going to Cat Ba.
The amazing Ban Gioc Waterfall in Vietnam. It takes a bit of time to get there and China is right on the other side of the river! Totally worth it, one of the best waterfalls I have seen in all of Asia!
The simply stunning reflections at night make Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin one of my favorite mosques on the world! I would say it is the main reason to visit Brunei's capital Bandar Seri Begawan.
The amazing Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park in Indonesia. I found a perfect spot for my camp and had an amazing sunset and sunrise. This is the view from the tent, just far enough away from the official viewpoint where hundreds of tourists are taken up with Jeeps every day.
I was driving in the rain through bali's country side when suddenly the clouds opened up and the sun reached this Temple gate, showcasing it in the most amazing light.
Great sun rays coming in through the morning mist on the rim just above Danau Buyan lake in the northern mountains. Pretty awesome for an early morning bike ride!
A young women practicing yoga during sunset on Indonesia's Gili Air Island. I was at the right spot to capture this moment and maybe I should try it some time too!
206)
If you snorkel around Gili Air island in Indonesia, you will see these guys sooner or later. I went in the water 3 times and saw at least one every time!
A scenic trip through the Antarctic Peninsula is probably one of the most expensive trips you can get, but believe me when I say it is worth every penny! Cant wait to get back there
The amazing Pulau Padar Island in Komodo National Park, Indonesia. To get to this amazing view, turn right after leaving the boat instead of going to the butterfly viewpoint on the left. It's worth the side trip to get a different angle!
The final view on Indonesia's Pulau Padar island from the butterfly viewpoint. It's such an amazing beautiful view and Instagram can't even handle the full Panorama of it
A close up of a big 3m long Komodo Dragon in Indonesia. Pretty impressive creatures, but also a bit boring at the same time since the big ones do not seem to move anything other than their eye lid!
The amazing colors of Indonesia's Mount Kelimutu. The volcano in the far east of Flores island actually has 3 crater lakes with 3 different colors and is certainly worth the effort to get to!
Some surprisingly stunning rice fields on the way back to Moni village on Flores island in the East of Indonesia. Had no idea about them and it was one of the prettiest I've seen in the country!
My first encounter with the kids in East Timor, our planet's newest country. I only spent a few days there, but it felt like a much longer time and I quickly became part of the local community. This little fella apparently liked my company too haha.
They say everything in Australia wants to kill you... However It's certainly not as bad as it sounds and you will barely get across any of the really dangerous animals. This snake is probably not even harmful, but still makes for a good picture in Gregory National Park.
The pool at Lake Argyle was probably the highlight over there, pretty awesome view for sure! It's only this empty in the morning before they open it
217)
This amazing climbing tree can be found in Lake Kununurra, just around the corner of Lake Argyle in Western Australia. Great spot to cool off for a while before hitting the road again!
The beehive shaped hills in the Purnululu National Park form the bungle bungles range and offer a few nice hikes. This one is on the way to whip snake gorge after losing my travel mates, took a while to run into each other again!
One of the palms in the Mini Palm Gorge in Purnululu National Park. The hike was probably the least interesting of our 2 days in the park, but this picture of the palm bending in the wind still turned out nicely.
Absolutely stunning atmosphere during sunset at my all time favorite free campsite and also best unexpectedly awesome place in all of Australia: the Boab Quarry Campsite! More pictures to come...
The view from my little sunrise spot above the Boab Quarry camp site in Western Australia. There is no path up there but with a tiny bit of scrambling, you can make it to the top easily.. we'll worth it for sure!
The Tunnel Creek National Park in Western Australia. Pretty cool hike through little caves and water, my favorite spot was actually this one right at the entrance looking back.
Another picture from the Tunnel Creek National Park. Coming out on the other side of the cave after wading through some water, you get to these cool looking Stalactites up on the roof.
One of the reasons why people flock in to Cable Beach in Western Australia: riding the camels during sunset! Nothing I wanted to do myself, but certainly a great motive for a photo.
The staircase to the Moon in Western Australia is basically a full moon rising over muddy sand bank in the ocean during low tide. The main location to see it is Broome, I missed it there though and see it from Port Headland. In the end, it probably looks exactly the same anyway.
Our first campsite in the Karijini National Park, Western Australia was the Albert Tognilini Rest Area. Got a really cool spot to chill out during sunset before preparing the usual camping dinner.
Coming down through the spiderwalk hike in the Hancock gorge of Western Australia's Karijini National Park was probably the most fun thing to do in the area, don't miss out on it!
The Thorny devil is a pretty rare reptile to look out for on the roads of Western Australia. Our awesome couch surfing host actually spotted this little guy while driving when he tried to cross the road!
The Hamelin Pool Stromatolites viewing deck at Shark Bay, Western Australia. We could see the pretty small Stromatolites in the crystal clear water during high tide. Pretty cool stopover to Monkey Mia!
A small selection of Shell Beach in Western Australia. As an another obvious stop on the way to monkey Mia, this place supposedly has so many shells that they stack up to 10m! I still find that hard to believe though and did not bother digging a hole.
Mother nature never ceases to amaze. Beautiful sun rays coming through the clouds just before sunset on our whalebone Bay camp site in Western Australia.
Dolphins are home to Monkey Mia in Western Australia as they regularly get fed and looked after here. Tourists can come every morning to get very close to them and feed them some fish!
If you go to the other side of the pier at the beach of Monkey Mia in Western Australia, just jump into the water and see if the dolphins come by to say hi I waited half an hour and saw 3 of them passing, such an awesome and truly wild encounter this time!
It's basically guaranteed to run into a Kangaroo at some point on your trip through Western Australia. Kalbarri had hundreds of them hopping around everywhere!
This was one of my favorite wild camping spots in all of Australia! Just below the Eagle Gorge Lookout In Kalbarri, I found a perfect sheltered overhang and made it there just in time for an amazing sunset while looking at the whales migrating below.
I don't know exactly what kind of jellyfish those are, but the covered the complete beach at Hangover Bay North of Perth, Western Australia. They made some funny sounds when you step on them which is nearly guaranteed.
Amazing waves crushing in to the Injidup spa area near Margaret River just south of Perth. The complete coastline is great for a 2 day Roadtrip with plentyful spots to stop and check out.
Back to Australia, trying to catch up with my "live" pictures... The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Australia is surfing. Even without any surfers, observing those gentle waves during sunset was always a treat to the eyes, just as here from the mutton bird viewpoint.
On top of the hanging rock in the Blue Mountains National Park near Sydney, Australia. You actually have to jump over a little edge to get there and most people are fine seeing it from the distance
A panoramic view of the hanging rock in the Blue Mountains National Park near Sydney, Australia. You can spot the little edge on the left side which you need to jump over to make it on the rock.
Every big fire starts from a small one. There is something about this pic from my mini tipi set up to get the fire going that I just really like. Don't know what it is, but there is something nice about this shot!
