The ds is really really popular over in asia. Probably becuase people need ways to pass time in the trains.
I wish our trains had sc on tv inside.

It's definitely the whole 'thing to do on the subway' element; also I think because they're pretty cheap and you can find secondhand games easily here (even some titles in English.)

It was the first time for me too - such weird timing especially considering I actually went to that GOM TV match too.

There weren't any older people around when I saw it, but these two office workers began chatting about SC immediately (I could recognize the words zergling and game at least lol.)

Not as much as I want to spend on my upgrade once I have a new job - the body was about $750 and the lens $900.

Woo, $1650 for a camera. More than enough for the average user like me.
I'm pretty sure there are higher end ones that are a lot more expensive too. Since I'm starting to gain interest in photography, I guess I have to invest more money into a camera.

I think with cameras in general you get what you pay for. We're not allowed to use flash at esporting events (I wouldn't want to either.) so a good solid lens was an essential. I wasn't very knowledgeable about DSLR when I bought my camera though so I'm hoping to upgrade to a model that is more on par with the photographers from fomos/Fifo (Who all use Canon EOS types in general.)
I'd recommend checking out Nikonians Forum for the best information on Nikon cameras It's really a case of what situations you'll want to use your camera in the most and finding a model/lens combination that suits them.
As for higher end ones - yeah I've seen models in excess of $8000 which is way to steep for my budget - I'm hoping to make the jump to a $2500 body and $2500 lens combination later in the year.
