Have you returned all of your beaten/bad games? I take all the games I know I am done with to a GameStop or something of the sort and trim off a good 30-40$ off a big game I know I will love. I traded in NCAA2008, Heavenly Sword, The Darkness, Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction and I think a few others.. it helps a lot!
Those are all good games (save for ratchet imo) that I enjoyed thoroughly but I knew they had run their course.. I was ok with parting with them in the name of a big game. I think I got GTA4 with one of those trade ins and Mass Effect.

Did you play through fallout 1 and 2 recently just to warm up? I mean the new one plays differently but seriously those games are still pretty sweet.

I didn't but if I could I would...
Those 2 games are revolutionizing games. I don't have them on this cpu and my torrent attempts were done in vain.

I'm saving this spot so that I can go back and time and play Fallout 1 and 2 and then return and make a fanboy comment about how the the awesomeness of the first game can never be reproduced

I haven't played fable2 online yet.. just doing the main story or w/e atm offline.
Fallout3 will be for the PC but not until a bit later iirc.
G5: I could never leave SCBW I don't play it anywhere near actively atm but I will always be here!

Fallout 3 is coming out for the PC on the same day. I'm wondering if I made a mistake not ordering a copy. I figure most people would probably go for PS3 or Xbox 360 versions- do you guys think the PC versions will sell out on opening day?
|
man, don't trade in any games into Gamestop, they rip you off like no other. It takes a little more effort, but selling on ebay or something will get you a good amount more money.

probably true but I am a lazy gamer nerd who wants his immediate gratification.

Yeah I'm really pumped for Fallout 3... Problem is I am soooo into Far Cry 2 right now and need to finish it before I get Fallout 3, haha. I'm loving Far Cry 2 so much, it's seriously the most immersive gaming experience I've ever encountered, and as a game designer it really makes me excited in ways I shouldn't be getting excited from software.

I've heard good things about that game. Something like you can start a forest fire to catch the attention of the bad guys then counter from behind n shit.. sounds nice.

it's gonna be a buggy holiday this year...when are they gonna patch clear sky so I can finish the damn game??

apparently stalker: clear sky is buggy? haha...
also, are you going to get littlebigplanet?

what do you expect from a pc game? fallout3's gonna get patched 2, 3, maybe 4 times, fable2 has already confirmed game stopper bug.
everybody's rushing to get their mofo game out for the holiday QA's all fked up.

I will probably get little big planet as well.. I cannot resist what is probably the best game to play with girls OR high as fook. Both situations sound optimal for gaming.
|
I'm excited for Resistance 2, the first game was really good.
I was playing it over and over again, I had some crazy dares like killing all Angels by successfully attaching an air-fuel grenade to it, and I was successful.
|
I just bought Fable 2 and Midnight Club LA. Both great games. I like seeing WRPGs pump out new material every now and then, and so far it's been a really immersive experience. As for Midnight Club.. I'm just sick of companies creating conventional racers with the same take on realism. It's nice to play an arcadey street racer that still looks fucking good.
Looking forward to LittleBigPlanet and Fallout 3 this week. Resistance 2/Gears 2/Banjo-Kazooie N&B/Mirror's Edge/MK vs. DC are all maybes based on whether I can find time to play more new games with university and all. @.@

Fallout 3 is not a fallout game (non canon)
you cant buy Godfather rights for example and make it cat.B horror movie
|
can't wait for resistance 2 wheeeee hope fallout 3 is sick, never played the first two though
|
If Fallout 3 is half the game Fallout 1 & 2 were it's going to be fucking awesome.
I understand that you can play it in either FPS-mode or in turn based third person mode? If that's the case then I sure hope the turn based-mode will work much like the previous games, you really need it when it gets hard. FPS-mode could possibly own pretty hard when you're grinding or just messing around, although it sort of feels like they try to buy non-hardcore fallout fans into the series.
If it has the style and humour of the original ones it will own though, the details and small jokes made at every possible opportunity... Great Series!

Friend of mine managed to get fallout 3 downloaded for his 360 a while ago. He said it's "Oblivion with guns, the only thing oblivion had going for it was its graphics, and they're not even very good in fallout"
I'm not sure how any of you can have faith in Bethesda after that pile of shit Oblivion came out.

I'm as exited for Fallout 3 as I would be for Starcraft 2 if Westwood made it...
And if it came out for PC after consoles Bethesda would probably get even more flack from F1/F2 fans than they already get :p
Who reads reviews anymore, 90% is the norm these days, after all every new game looks great. I think NMA sometimes goes too far in their negativity, but then again Bethesda seems like the opposite of Blizzard when it comes to involving the fans, or remotely listening to their advice.
In my view NMA has done more for Fallout than Bethesda has

I heard very good things about fallout 3 too, about it being probably one of the greatest games out there right now (by my friends xD), but i never even played fallout 1 or 2. are the first two any good? (judging by the responses here, they make it sound like it's better than sc xD) I think i could use a break from sc..
|
So i got Farcry2 - really good game in my mind. Oh and why don't you game on PC? I'm disappointed, for the price of those two consoles you could have built a beast putting both other platforms to shame, loosing resistance and fable would be a small loss compared to the graphical and controller benefits of the PC, at least that's my opinion.
Granted - i do have a PS3, mostly as a blueray player with two titles, MGS4 & GTA4, oh and resistance and motorstorm, which came bundled. There are *some* consol titles that warrants the purchase of said platform, but only if you're a franchise fanboy like myself in the case of metal gear.
|
Can't wait for fallout 3 but far cry 2 is keeping me busy when I have time, incredible game. The fire system in far cry 2 is so awesome, you can basically start a fire big enough so it spreads into a camp flushing all enemies out.
|
Anyone else waiting for mirror's edge more than anything else?
Fallout 3 is a great franchise stuck into an engine that shouldn't be able to contain its basic design. Its like Starcraft 64 2.
Far Cry 2 is the new quality FPS, probably very exciting but you only get what your waiting for.
Little Big Planet, I must admit I hardly looked at the game, might be fun.
Mirror's Edge just might be the new Portals, a new refreshing "genre" that really bring back the excitement of discovery in games.
|
Yeah but portal was only fun for 1 or 2 days. Spore wasn't even fun for more than an hour. That\s the thing with innovation, it's great for gaming in general but it doesn't mean shit for the actual game when it isn't fun.
I really think fallout 3 will be awesome as hell, everything I've seen from the gameplay so far looks incredible.

I just finished Lego Batman...

did it hurt when that horse kicked you in the head?
And on topic, fallout 3 is brilliant! Just as absorbing as oblivion. Lovely sounds, dialogue, atmosphere, combat system, delinearization. Awesome in general!

wow
I cant believe how his comic manages to be worse every time I look at it.
It's like a hundred page of drama that's completely unfunnny and retarded and not a single game related comic anymore, which were at least bearable, what a hack.

Btw to those not following the "sports and games" forum "Fallout 3 Release" thread I will write what I think about the game thus far:
I have played around 20 hours of it and I am absorbed. I love the cinematic experience of this game. V.A.T.S mode is essentially slow-motion killing with some amazing cinematic effects. Sometimes the camera will go to the villains point of view as they get blown apart and other times it will chase the bullet as it enters the head of the victim. Really makes you feel like you are playing a movie.. an experience that a lot of us (myself included) try and pursue.
Aside from the stellar fighting I enjoy the weapons. Being able to create entirely new weapons, repair existing weapons from the parts of others or buying schematics for new weapons to be put together at a workbench are all fun characteristics of the game. I especially enjoy the weapons themselves.. they have the flare of a post-nuclear ravaged world while stilll imbedding some of that style that you can only find in a Fallout game. Take the "fat boy" for instance.. a mini-nuke shooting rocket launcher. REALLY fun to shell a cluster of super mutants from a distance and watch the gratifying mushroom cloud rise up on the horizon over the gorgeous ruins of Washington D.C. My staple weapon however is Abraham Lincoln's repeater. Shoots .44 magnum rounds and.. well it's fucking lincoln's gun of course I use it.
The dialogue in the game is not top-notch amongst games overall but for this game I find it quite fine and fun. I love that with levels of speech you gain new dialogue but also can "win over" people by accessing attempts at goading them to give you better rewards or to skip a mission entirely. The fact that I feel like I have some say in how this game goes does a lot for me. I also really like what this game does story wise.. I feel like the road warrior roaming these lands finding little clusters of people or cities of ghouls.. all wary and welcoming at the same time. I love interacting with the brotherhood of steel or literally sitting back and watching 3 brotherhood of steel paladins duel with a group of super mutants.
I have played for a good 20 hours and have done very little in terms of the main quest aside from find a Doctor who had recently seen my father. I have detonated a nuclear weapon in a city. I have a strange visitor that helps blow away enemies with a giant magnum. I have had a mercenary group ambush me trying to collect a bounty that was put on my head for being too evil. I have helped the brotherhood of steel search the national archives...
I love this game.

btw I will be trading in Too Human and possibly (still debating on this) Mass Effect on November 4th to get Resistance 2.
I trade in the games I feel have little or no replay value or aren't that good of a game to begin with. The only game I miss that I traded in has been "The Darkness." Realy short game with a LOT of class imo. Loved it.
