For serious brothers. My game time is fucking five and a half hours and I can't even find the first dungeon still. Maybe my parents aren't kidding when they call me retarded.
Stats so far: (At the second town; most expensive weapon is 400 LOL)
So here I am, sitting in my room alone in the dark with a 2 liter of coke and a bag of chips. Trying to beat this game in one sitting but can't find the first dungeon. Mother fucker.
Then it got me thinking. What was the most glorious gaming moment of my life? And that moment was easy to remember: 5th grade I played Perfect Dark on the N64 for 20 hours straight. Seriously, that game was my life. Every single day after school I would throw my bookbag on the floor, start up the N64, and play some meatsims on the combat simulator. My license had well over 250,000 kills before I retired.
And the memories. OH THE MEMORIES. In fact Perfect Dark was probably the start and blossom of my bad mannerisms today. My cousin came over with Goldeneye, which pissed me off. I told him that game was just a shitty version of Perfect Dark with horrible multiplayer features. So he was all pumped to own me in PD. Was like alright lets do this bitch. So what did I do? I put on 8 meatsims and hunted them and won! And he never came back to my house again.
GoldenEye is 100 times better than Perfect Dark you fucken skilless noobie.
Perfect Dark was only good because of co-op.
I dunno about my most glorious moment, but my brother paid me and my friend 100 dollars each to 100% Super Mario Galaxy (get all the stars) when it came out. God knows why he did... But it pretty much made the game not fun at all... I couldn't get the music out of my head for days...

HO-LY SHIT.
Well maybe the storyline was better for GoldenEye, I don't know. I never play storylines unless it REALLY catches my interest.
Never played Starcraft campaign and never will. But imo Perfect Dark's multiplayer just rapes the shit out of GoldenEye's. I cannot tell you how accomplished I would feel after railing the fuck outta noob bots with the farsight gun or slayer missile-controlled shots. Life owned.
I can't though. I want to do something by myself for once!
Self independence baby!
Omg I'm the same way and most memorable gaming experience is champions of norrath for ps2 or monster hunter for ps2. Those games were fucking awesome. As a matter of fact I just bought champions again to play it over. Sick game.
Horrible, horrible placement. The townspeople said NORTH and gave me a ship. Turns out I didn't need to use the ship and it was southeast. I think there was some Japanese to English translation errors. Or the NPCs just thinks its funny to make me royally pissed. Good news is the next quarter of the game should be super smooth sailing since I'm ridiculously leveled for the area I'm at. GLHF!
Goldeneye came out in 1997 when multiplayer games on all platforms still pretty much sucked. Perfect Dark came out in 2000, and even if it was a little better, it couldn't compete with Quake 3, Counter-strike, Starcraft, etc.

OMG and how could I forget playing Wolfenstein ET!
BLEGH again I forgot legend of dragoon. Possibly the best playstation game EVER.
rofl this game was ezmode dude, if i remember correctly first dungeon is north west, like a lot tho ... at least 4-5 random encounters till you get there ... But i obviously wouldnt bet my life on it it's been years since i finished that game
Faust I now know why we've always gotten along. I used to play Perfect Dark for N64 for hours and hours too! I was really sad when Perfect Dark Zero didn't come out for the Gamecube because it was originally supposed to.
I don't have many regrets in life. But wtf was I thinking when I bought that gamecube. I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to get a PS2 or an XBOX.

Oh, and I am now extremely curious as to what you named your White Mage and Thief.
No I did that already.
I'm assuming 4 crystals = 4 dungeons though. And I don't even have one yet. Found the elf village though!

Omg tell me about it.
I remember when the Gamecube was still codenamed the "Dolphin" and Rareware was making "Donkey Kong Racing". It looked amazing. Donkey Kong on bumble bees and stuff. The graphics were so mind-blowing back then. But for some reason the company moved to Microsoft and made games exclusively for the XBox and the Gamecube got shafted for Perfect Dark Zero. Apparently it sucked dick anyways.
I wish I could find the original trailer for Donkey Kong Racing.. it has been so long that most people don't believe me when I talk about it.

The first crystal is like, north westish? Just keep sailing north westish till you find the most north westish docks, and then run around for a while. I don't even remember. Took me a while too to find it.

The Gameboy Advance version he's playing is much much much easier than the Nintendo one.
I think I had the Nintendo one before.
If I remember correctly once a character dies he is dead for good, right? This is still kind of hard though. Phoenix feathers never cost this much in any FF game.
They cost more than the equips for the love of god...

hHAhHAhA so they pointed you in the wrong direction? Douchbags they are
I played through FF1&2: Dawn of Souls a couple months ago. Haha, and no, there are not 4 dungeons. There are like 20, but there are 4 special extra dungeons where you can get amazing weapons and such. And they are really hard.
yeah, you gotta get spells early, cuz they're really powerful. Then just kill ogres and stuff/rest. Actually if you're level 12/13, you're past that point. Anyway, if you just got to Elfland, you need to go to the March Cave to the West, and a bit south. There's lots of poison and rapage. That's like the first tough part of the game (unless you're really high lvl).
edit: oh yeah 29fps is right. You gotta talk to astos first.
Hahaha, coincidence a week ago I was like I'm gonna play FF1 and completed it in 1 day, was such a drag after a while (VBA speed button ) but yea, a lot of the things you get a few hints to where to go but it's not that easy to work out so I agree with Gamefaqs

This made me spit ice tea all across my room! You sir are too funny.
You are in the wrong dungeon, its not the NPC's fault. Once you know where to go in FF1 it is an awesome game, especially if you do the extra dungeons in the Dawn of Souls edition.
How much fun could a remake of this game be? The real challenge came from needing to play the game a dozen times to beat it. If something bumped your NES, you lost your save game after weeks of progress.
I can't though. I want to do something by myself for once!

I love these threads. We almost sound like the noobfaqs threads but its just because we are passionate about the games from our childhood.

Not a chance. It sounds like you just liked playing against computers.
For HUMAN multiplayer, GoldenEye is still something my friends and I play. Proxy mines are so damn fun in that game, not to mention all the levels are much better designed and the controls are more customizable.
I mean... I guess GoldenEye would suck if there were no License to Kill because everyone kinda takes forever to die otherwise, but with License to Kill there's no way PD is funner... Gameplay is way better.
That's not to say I didn't have fun with PD multiplayer... trip mines and laptop sentry guns were fun to hide in a hole with against an unstoppable hoard of CPUs with your friend but... It was no where near as competetive or skill-oriented as GoldenEye /w License to Kill on. Which for longterm value is important.

Onion ftw
The GBA version is retardedly easy. Essentially the only leveling you have to do is the battles you'll end up fighting between bosses / towns anyway.
Compared to NES or those other remakes that use the same numbers is ridiculous. I'd venture to say it's the easiest RPG I've ever played
Isn't that how all RPGs work? It's never actually mandatory to grind levels.. That would be stupid and boring. I remember playing FFIX all the way thru with two friends and they kept saying 'we have to grind blah blah blah' but I'd refuse to endure that... And you know what? We were pretty much good to go at every boss fight anyway. Grinding in RPGs is like building up to 200/200 in the SC campaign so that you can kill the computer massive 3 sunken 8 hydralisk and 3 ultralisks army. As long as you choose your attacks with some degree of intelligence, the game is meant to be winnable without grinding.
Well, first off I disagree with your premise that RPG's should all work that way, but obviously there's no problem that we differ regarding that. But in FF1, you had to grind, or be really smart. There are vids on Youtube of beating Chaos at like level 8, but even when you do grind there are plenty of monsters that can kill you in one hit, paralyze your entire party and then kill you all etc.
It was a lot harder and definitely required some leveling (for people like me, maybe the crafty ones wouldn't have to).
I remember an N64 emulator allowed people to play online together.
Me and StalinRuSh played Super Smash Bros for a bit after it took me forever to configure the online technical stuff. If you guys are up for it and someone can figure out how to do it, we should find like 4 people to stay up all night and play Goldeneye or Perfect Dark. Maybe even a tournament!
Edit: I fell asleep while playing FF1. But I'm glad I did because when I woke up to play it my game glitched and froze. Would have been so mad if I played continuously to have all that shit fucked up.
